Used a 2060 for 3 years without issue. It's a higher-end 1080p or low-end 1440p card at most, and that's just fine. I never had an issue with VRAM limitations. Most AAA games at 1080p high settings hovered around 4 to 4.5GB RAM usage.
Buying the 2060 and expecting any kind of playable performance at 4K with high-res textures is a misunderstanding of the card's intended segment.

6gb has started to be a problem at 1080p ultra in some games like doom eternal, Valhalla, watchdog legion etc it's fine for now but future cards have to be more hence the laptop 3060 is a bit yikes with just 6gb while 6600M comes etc 8gb

      1) Optimization costs money. You need to put the effort into making the least powerful version as good lookin as you can, that rarely happens because 2
      2) Tech developers are in leagues with game developers, they need new games to push new cards, not old 2nd hand retail ones, so some games are lacking on purpose. Others not, like GTA or Skyrim, for the sake of lasting years. It's a creative and monetary decision, not lazyness imo.

@@MiguelBaptista1981 monetary yes ,creativity honestly not as much anymore. I get that it's hard to come up with a creative game nowadays but smaller developers have shown there are still many areas to explore like splitgate and their portal/arena style shooter. Companies are just too afraid of change because if they change wrong that means monetary change. Then there is esports aka the cancer of gaming making a lot of online games just not fun anymore because of how esports oriented it is and people taking it wayyy too serious. This also makes a lot of companies want to have their own eSports games and listen to their eSports community rather than making fun games because that's what makes them money. It's hard to find a game made with love and passion. But yeah you're right it's not the developers, its the directors. Like cyberpunk 2077 being rushed to release and having to cut a lot of content and releasing an unfinished mess. Why? money. There's also over reliability of DLSS, because as a matter of fact even high-end couldn't run some games without DLSS and it's honestly ridiculous. Then there's ray tracing that is demanding and can look good, but some games have it implemented purely for marketing reasons, and others rely on it and get lazy when making the non ray traced lighting, because everyone has ray tracing on right?. Not to mention it's a noisy mess in 1080p and still is in high resolutions in some games. And again, this is all due to money.

Watching A TON of GPU related videos since the release of RTX 3000 series there were a lot of voices saying that it is simply not profitable for Nvidia at MSRP so this may be a reason, though with the price crash happening I expect it to reach MSRP. Same for the 3060 MSRP, I think starting with 3060ti and up the MSRP is ok and profitable.

unfortunately, although rx 6600 is faster and cheaper, there are some monitor compatibility / black screen issues and nvidia typically are more being used due to its stability. also, people do not care about the $/fps or cost efffectiveness. They simply look at what's "affordable". they probably would not get 3090 even if it is listed for 600~700, because it is simply out of their budget.

Even at same price point nope. 50 series cards have 128-bit bandwidth vs 192-bit. You might wonder what's their importance?
      Say, if we take example
      2060 6gb - 1920 cuda cores (192-bit) - Say gets 60 fps
      2060 Super - 2176 cuda cores (256-bit) - Gets 72+ fps
      2060 12gb - 2176 cuda cores (192-bit) - Gets 61 fps.
Same with 3050, It has cuda cores enough to go over 2060 super but due to bandwidth it's even slower than 2060.

    • @prateekpanwar646

      2060 Super - 2060 = 15 fps
      2070 - 2060 Super = 10 fps
      ...
It costs around 80$ for 10 fps (It's very rough estimate and difference changes per game and gpu). So in short, Pick 60 series card.

So you have to get to the 8th most popular card before you see a card with more than 6 GB VRAM, and a good 1/3 of the gaming population uses the first 7 cards, and many of the other cards on the list have 6 GB or less, too. I don't see a world in which gaming manufacturers will decide out of the blue that 6 GB VRAM is not enough and basically make the game unplayable for most people.

I would prefer when you do the side by sides if you would match them by settings and not by Card type. So for example, when you had 4 side by sides between these two cards, I'd rather have the 2 1080p panels side by side then the way you had it here where you put the panels side by side based on the card. It just makes it easier to compare the frame rates when they are next to each other than when there is a 1440p or dlss panel between the 2 you want to compare.
I know this was a comparison of the 2 nvidia cards but I'd probably still prefer the Rx 6600 especially now that you can find it for 250 to 260. The value is just too strong. The only reason to consider the nvidia cards in my opinion is if you have an application based need for them. And even then at the price difference it might not make sense.

On the 3050 release I've seen some point that it had an abnormal amount of pop-in and stutter when loading new areas, maybe you could see if that's cause by the slower VRAM on the 3050 or if it maybe was just a driver fluke from early drivers? You could compare the 3050 to the 2060 12GB as to eliminate the amount of VRAM issue.

I have a laptop with the 3050 and its definitely driver problem I too was having some problem when I updated my Windows machine somehow it also update of the graphics card, the one working the best with the 3050 right now is Version 512. I used this machine basically only for editing and not gaming, I noticed the problem when my Premiere Pro timeline can handle 4-8 Layers of graded adjustment layer and the Next day it suddenly lag like hell, like it slows down the whole machine when it comes to editing my first guest was performance mode: so I change to Perfomance and Turbo same thing. Then I then Check my drivers: and see that the Nvidia was updated: update to the latest one around 570 I think. Luckily I always do a system backup and Restore my System. Then I downloaded manually the driver of 512 to see if its the culprit, and download a latest one, I manually install the latest one and turns out its the culprit. To make sure that my assumption was correct I reformatted the Machine with 20h1 Version of windows, install wu10man to make sure no windows update will happened, Install the latest one then find its still the culprit and then I uninstall and put back version 512, it solves the problem.
So for People having problem with 3050 its mostly the driver is the Culprit. I've tried both rtx2080 and 3050 and I must say in terms of 4k heavy editing 3050 gives me the upper hand. So I Don't get people calling 3050 a garbage, probably they suck at optimizing windows and their setup or they don't have a clue about computers.

at the 400$ and below price point you would be an idiot to buy nvidia. The 6600 is gtx 1080ti level performance at 1080p while the rtx 3050 is near identical to the gtx 1070. thats two full tiers of rasterization performance between these cards with the 1080ti equivalent AMD card being cheaper. when you move up to the 6600xt and the 6650xt it gets even more astonishing. The 6650xt was a bad card at 410-450$ when it launched but they are selling for 350-370$ now and these cards not only OC to 2.9ghz consistently but they also have faster 18gbs memory giving them a solid bump in bandwidth. The 6650xt overclocked and undervolted runs very close to a 3060ti at 1080p and at ~350ish dollars that would be my purchase if i was buying right now. A 6600 (nonxt) for 280$ and below is also a solid budget option.
EDIT: this is based on buying right now prices for new cards. I still recommend you wait for prices to go even lower and if you start seeing 3060ti's for under 400$ then that would change the equation.

Lower power draw than in other games is typical for Forza Horizon series. I've noticed that long time ago in Forza Horizon 4, where my RTX 2080 Super was drawing 200-220W instead of ~250W. The same situation is in Forza Horizon 5.

People in comments and even person who made this comparison keep forgetting about one important thing here.
FPS is not everything. Look at 7:36 for example, this is NOT a tie, sure 2060 has a 1 or 2 FPS higher, but look closely, 2060 has a very noticeable stuttering, while 3050 runs much smoother.
2060 may be more powerful, but 3050 uses newer technology.

  • @LurkingLarper
    @LurkingLarper Год назад +2

Other than the power usage which is around 50% higher for 2060 for similar performance as 3050, it's a buy. Still, 3050 seems quite power efficient little bugger and with little undervolting and tweaking it would be a terrific card. Too bad it costs way too much to be a real consideration in current market.

2060 SUPER with 8g vram resolves this vram issue. Also has much better performance than a 2060 non super and much better performance over the 3050.
Personaly, if I was in the market for a budget GC, and would like to stay in the NVIDIA architecture, I def would go with the 2060 SUPER instead of the 3050 and the 2060 non super.

So i think it's a no brainer to go for 2060 rather than those 2 gpus, but every country has different pricing so i think suit whats best with the budget. On Cyberpunk, try 1440p high, Ray traced lighting off, but turn on ray traced reflections with DLSS Balanced. DLSS balanced will net you a considerable bump in framerate in Cyberpunk 2077, but while there is a quality difference, it's so small, you'd be hard pressed to spot it in most scenes. Really hard pressed. So while on the 2080Ti , I opt for DLSS quality with ray tracing, on the 2060, I don't really see using the Balanced preset of DLSS as a downgrade. You'll definitely get better quality than 1080p and possibly a better overall performance. If you do get better "overall" performance at 1440p high, with RT reflections and Balanced DLSS, that may just be the way to go. If you can maintain 60+ FPS at those settings, then try turning on interior and exterior ray traced shadows. Those really aren't that expensive. But don't waste your time with raytraced lighting on the 2060. It runs crap even on the 2080Ti.
This recommendation to try, is based on my own testing from a couple weeks ago. Ray traced reflections and shadows in Cyberpunk are not that demanding on the cards. Ray traced Lighting on the other hand, is brutal on the cards and generally not worth it. And for some reason in Cyberpunk, even when you can maintain a 60+ FPS with RT Lighting enabled, there's still a notable and "feel"able lag in the game. To the point where I just gave up on it. Plus, the global lighting in Cyberpunk is so good, that while there is a difference between enabling and disabling RT Lighting, it's really small and only really noticeable in very select scenes. To be blunt, just using RT reflections and both RT shadows (there's two RT shadow options now) while leaving RT Lighting completely off, will get you 90% of the Ray Tracing experience, at a fraction of the performance cost.

The card has no other purpose compared to older 20 series cards, unless for some reason your self imposed TDP limit was staying under 150 Watts. Then it is an energy efficient card. But in this budget segment you wont ever be able to run ray tracing properly, so you might as well have gotten an AMD card for the same price as a 3050 and gained more FPS.

when using dlss on 1080p are u using native 1080p monitor ? or above
to me its not noticeable when playing game using dlss (if the game implemented dlss correctly)
example shadow tomb raider its better to use dlss than native

      @LegendZzFTW GTX 1080 TDP = 180 W
      RTX 2060 TDP = 160 W
      Sure... Huge difference.
FSR works fine with older pascal hardware just check videos gtx 1050ti FSR 2.0 cyberpunk example.
Also pointing out that RTX 2060 is 6gb only with lesser memory bandwidth. Meaning some tasks/games that ask more memory bandwidth suffer a bit with 2060

Im kind confused, I got 80-95w RTX 3060 laptop and while it should be performing roughly same as 2060 desktop, I still get much better result in Cyberpunk. I get same exact 76 FPS but at Ultra preset with DLSS Quality and I get around 90fps on High with DLSS quality which is pretty huge difference and I cant really figure out why its the case

Is it just me, or the 2060 is frame skipping/tearing at some point in the benchmark? sure it doesn't reflect the FPS during that frame skipping/tearing, but that is very noticeable is you pay attention to the display.

Side note: It is slightly better the RX 5700 in some things but not in others due to AMD ensuring it was not DOA.

You can overclock the 3050 to eliminate the 2060 performance advantage and that still give you lower watt consumption , once games push vram usage higher than 5GB, the 2060 will lose to 3050
the 2060 perform 10-20% better, so even with 3050 overclocked the 2060 will still have 10% more advantage with 20% more tdp still looks good to me
