Angel telling Val were to shove it was definitely the highlight of his character growth in S1. Telling off your abuser in defense of your friends while also showing the public how fragile his power over his "stars" truly is badass in so many ways. I can't wait to see Angel break free of Valentino completely.

In Charlie’s defense, we did just get done with a clip where Angel literally said to Vaggie that he’s here for the free rent because he doesn’t believe in redemption.
I get why Angel’s hurt but like, he never really shows any actual interest up to this point. I get why Charlie has such a strong reaction to someone actually wanting to be there after being immediately dismissed even by her own one guest.
Now of course, Sir Pentious didn’t want to be there at the time but hey, Charlie didn’t know
I get that but at the same time, he WAS her first resident as she was proud of that in the pilot... until he started committing 'territorial genocide' as Vaggie said. No Charlie hate btw, I know she means well.
@@catpeasant106 Of course, and no hate to Angel either, I’m just saying I understand why she referred to Pentious as a “real” guest. It’s definitely gotta be hurtful to hear that, but at the same time Angel is practically saying he doesn’t wanna BE a “real” guest. Through both his actions and just direct words sometimes.
I understand where Angel’s coming from, but I wouldn’t say he was done dirty, I would get pretty exhausted too if my only resident actively acted like they didn’t wanna be there

@@lampsharki get what you're saying but i think it's important to note that Angel's tough and sarcastic personality is a defense mechanism. if he acts like he doesn't care then he doesn't have to be vulnerable, something he fears likely because of his abuse from Valentino. him saying he only is at the hotel because free rent was shitty sure, but i don't necessarily think it's true. if we look into it, he's there to get away from his abuser.
of course, Charlie wouldn't know this though because Angel hasn't opened up to her (because he doesn't feel like she's created a safe space for him specifically to do so) BUT also because she doesn't have the proper knowledge and experience to even understand trauma and psychology.
a big thing about Charlie that i feel like is kinda overlooked is that while she does want to help people, she doesn't know how. a lot of what she tries to do is very generalized and surface level (trust exercises, apologizing, boundaries, etc) which comes from a very naive and sheltered upbringing. she's a people pleaser, which (in my experience) can be really toxic to herself and others. she tries to avoid her own problems by controlling other people and unintentionally hurting them, which isn't good. i really hope we see her work on this in future seasons
and i would disagree and say that Angel WAS done dirty, even if it was unintentional. it's the irony of Charlie making him play "the crackhead" when he has an addiction problem, AND blaming it on him "never getting enough hugs". that's really insensitive to anyone who is struggling with addiction whether or not they want to change. it just goes to show that Charlie is pretty ignorant sometimes about how people suffer just because she has a rose colored view of her world, probably again because she's a sheltered princess.
I love Angel Dust so much!!!! He's very funny and flirtatious also I'm still proud of him for standing up to his horrible boss Valentino 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
