Yeah, I think Angel got kicked out of his mob family for being gay and there are rumors that his brother punched him in the eye before he died and that's why one of his eyes looks like that so they could bond over being cast out by a strict and abusive family
I see Vaggie as the sister-in-law that moved into the house that her significant other shares with the irresponsible younger brother - at first they can’t stand each other, but then they begin developing a genuine bond with one another in spite of their myriad of differences.
