  • Trader Vic's Pink Cloud cocktail was served in this statuesque glass.
    I acquired one of Trader Vic's more rare cocktail glasses recently. It's not often that you build a whole cocktail video around the glass that it was originally served in, but the glass is so incredible, how could I resist? I couldn't help but dive into the history Trader Vic's glassware.
    You'll need:
    --------------------------------------
    • evaporated milk
    • creme de cacao
    • creme de noyaux
    --------------------------------------
    - The quantities for the recipe are in the video -

    This is similar to a Pink Squirrel..is there any history of how these drinks spin off each other ?
    You need to due a whole pink series with Pin Up Palmer.

    Yeah, cherry is not my favorite flavor either but based upon your reaction, I'd be curious to try it.

    Crazy - $5.50 for a drink in 1975 is equal to $26 in today’s money

    I’ve really enjoyed the cocktails I’ve had from this show so far! Doing a great job! Is that a Shriners fez in the bottom right? What’s the story on that? Being a Mason myself I’d love to hear about it

    • @BreezewayCocktailHour
      @BreezewayCocktailHour  3 года назад

      Sam Wilson thanks! The Shriner flex has been synonymous with tiki in that the Shriners saw their prominence in the mid-century... there is an exoticism to their outfits and mythology too. Kinda fits in with the escapism of tiki. That's as far as it goes.

    Spike - BTW What you are calling 'glassware' is correctly referred to as 'Stemware'. Seems you may have mispronounced the essential Hawaiian term Kama'aina. And one always uses a 'church key' (never a can opener) to open condensed milk. Nice Mix Bra. Digging The Outtakes. Big Mahalo!

    • @BreezewayCocktailHour
      @BreezewayCocktailHour  4 года назад

      Don Wanderer thanks for the tips. How do you phonetically pronounce kama'aina?

    • @BreezewayCocktailHour
      @BreezewayCocktailHour  4 года назад +1

      Oh, and as I was referring to the mugs and glasses too, not just champagne or coupes, shouldn't that all encompassing term be 'glassware' and not stemware?

    • @padraic8873
      @padraic8873 4 года назад

      @@BreezewayCocktailHour kamaʿāina, the first "a" in the second syllable is a long like in "cake" practice it at first as two separate syllables, moving them closer together as one word. It's literal translation is child of the land, but ʿāina doesn't translate well into English

    • @BreezewayCocktailHour
      @BreezewayCocktailHour  4 года назад

      Padraic Gallagher is it 'Kama eh nuh?'

    • @padraic8873

      @@BreezewayCocktailHour More like Kama eye nuh, emphasis is on the third A with okina or the single quote mark. Look up Hawaii Public Radio's Hawaiian word of the day, they are da' bestest!

    You used the wrong type of can opener. Use the pointed piercing side of a old style bottle opener. Same way you had to open oil before screw caps came along.

    Great video.
    But where did you get this recipe from? I’ve got the same Vic’s book as you, and on page 255, the specs are equal parts for all three, not 3/4, 1, 2 oz. ratio.

    • @BreezewayCocktailHour
      @BreezewayCocktailHour  3 года назад

      Craft Tiki you know, I think I found that recipe online. I must have written it down before I got the TV's guide! I just looked at the book and you're right about the recipe... I usually try to be really precise with these things. Shoot!
