I was watching that Dutch liveried 31 pull into the yard! I was 7 years old at the time, and I still remember it - I was so excited! I must go back to Worksop now that I record trains to use as percussion in my band; I think I owe it to myself to go and stand behind Tesco to capture the sounds of the happiest place of my childhood.

    Coal was king then

Lived in Worksop for 25 yrs and remember the sound of loco's pulling 10's of Merry Go Round hopper wagons going past Worksop train station towards Retford and towards Sheffield. When when one was coming you could hear them from a mile away and when they got nearer you could feel the ground vibrate. As a kid i used to watch them pull away from Tesco's car park where the glassworks was.

Cracking video. those Class 58's certainly sounded awesome. All the traction we took for granted back then too :(

All those trains are now razor blades, except for the 153 and some of the 58 still in Spain. Even the power stations are gone.

Another wonderful collection Brian, watching with headphones, all the sound track is through the left channel which is a shame...Bob

now there's one, last shot at Worksop, top and tail with 58's on an MGR...I have never seen that over the years, that must be if not unique, then a VERY rare shot of such a working.... try modelling that on a train set and they'll all tell you ' I think you'll find that never happened ' well, there it is on vid.

Hi,there was a regular diagram from Worksop using top n tail 58s to one of the local collieries,so a local told me when I was there, there was also one diagram out from Toton again top n tail 58s,of which I have video ,not great footage though.
