I own two WiiM mini's and a couple of months ago purchased the WiiM Pro Plus. I compared it directly with the Cambridge CXN V1 and the WiiM pro Plus has the huge advantage of having multiple native streaming services, especially Amazon HD and Qobuz. Plus using the WiiM pro plus connected to an external DAC (Wyred4Sound and a Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista) was very good sounding, even better than the Cambridge Audio CXN. I then added an external power supply, the Allo Nirvana, and that added even more resolution and clarity. So, it has replaced the Cambridge Audio CXN in my system.
Thanks. You answered my question as I have the Nirvana hooked to my Allo Digione streamer, and it improved the quality there as well. Sounds like the Wiim PP may have a little less edge than the Rasp Pi based streamers so I may give it a chance and use the better power supply. It will be hooked to a Soekris 1421 DAC. BTW 1951, the year I started this audio journey. 😊
Same experience here, I like the WiiM Pro much better than the CXN v2 I owned. The WiiM software is simply light years ahead of everyone, and the EQ and PEQ simply take it over the top. Listening to mine right now, through a PS Audio DAC/Preamp and Sansui 4000 receiver/amplifier through the Zu DW6 Supremes... A little 90's Funk, Us3 Hand on the Torch via Qobuz... ;-)
@@kenr9447 Please comment if you are able to compare the digital sound quality of the Allo Digione to the Wiim PP. I have the Digione but it is such a pain to use as I was never able to get the Bluetooth programing to work and using the IP address in a browser is such a pain. Now I need to change the WiFi network name and I dread having to relearn how to program the thing.
Thank you very much for another excellent review. For those who want to use the Wiim PRO Plus only as a streamer, using an external DAC, the Wiim PRO is the best option because it usually costs €145 when it is on sale and has the same streamer as the Wiim PRO Plus.
I was about to ask that. I have an external DAC but I haven’t gotten a streamer yet. So the Pro Plus doesn’t make any difference over the Pro if I out only digital, right?
Great channel and excellent review. I never gave any thought about power supply to a streamer. I have a power strip with USB socket so I didn’t bother to used the switched power supply that came with WiiM Pro Plus. As soon as you mentioned, I dug it out and plugged into the Furman surge protector that was highly recommended by pro audio engineers. What a difference! Your voice became more 3D. Now I couldn’t wait to get a LPS to bring it up a level to match my Burson C3. Thanks again
Great review! You are the only reviewer I have seen who compared the digital out of different streamers with an outboard DAC. Other reviews compare streamers using their included DACS, but most of us audiophiles use external DACs and don't need the included DAC.
@ruger6049 I have a Wiim Mini ($90) and it sounds great. I use it with a moderately priced ($150) Schiit Modi DAC. A couple of reviewers have claimed that the streaming performance is very slightly better from the Wiim Pro vs. the Mini. It's hard to get a good comparison of various streamers though, as hardly any reviewers compare using external DACs, bypassing the streamer's internal DAC. Why? I have no idea! Unless possibly, it's because they will all sound identical.
Amazing channel! Once again great review. I like how you can explain differences in sound quality between products. Its understood for rookies and for those how had more knowledge about audio equipment. Sometimes there is no reason to spend 5-10x times, much more money to get hardly noticable sound quality.
Hi! I can't wait for an audio reviewer to review the Denafrips Arce. It's a dedicated streamer that doesn't have all the streaming services yet, but I'm told it will come. Comparing it to the iFi Zen stream would make me happy... Congratulations for your very good videos like: British Audiophile (Tarun): which goes further on a technical level; Hanz Beekhuyzen: who goes even further on a technical level; John Darko; Steve Huffman: based on listening to Hi Hifi references; Jay Iyagi; Cheap audioman; and a few others. Keep up the good work!
I've had this a couple of mths now and it is a great device but if you want to take it up a notch buy the ifi power2 it adds to the sound quality voices are much clearer and sharper. My home is only 11yrs old and it definitely cleaned up the line noise.
I did the same with iFi iPower supply as well with great results. Unfortunately I returned my pro plus yesterday. I turned off Fade-in & out Effects in audio settings to get/hear music gapless, and every time a new track plays through either WiiM streaming or over optical input, there’s a distorted and noisy beginning for about a second or so, every time! It’s an unfinished product and they tried to mask that defect with the fade-in-&-out setting turned on by default, when using it as a Streamer/DAC. Otherwise it sounded great, but only as background music, it won’t give you great sound for dedicated listening experience as other inexpensive DACs would do. And I used an iFi iPower supply on it. Great as a transport, tried it, but there’s WiiM Mini for that! WiiM Pro plus is a great quality background music playback streamer/DAC, but nothing more. I got it for $175 during Amazon prime deals in October and still returned it, worth maybe a $100 in this development stage. Wonder if I had a defective unit 🤔🤷♂️
I use the Wiim pro plus with the same ifi power2, it is a better one than the standard psu. I use it with a separate dac via coac, the only thing I miss is a usb socket to cinnect a harddisk with wav or flac files instead of using my nas ( and perhaps apple music support). The software and the price is what really distinguish these from other streamers, don’t underestimate the software, the Wiim app is very good and stable, better than a lot of other streamer devices.
I saw some analyzes of the Wiim pro plus, all very interesting, however your analysis added 2 important things: The issue of replacing the original power supply and the comparison with the EverSolo, which I consider to be a top of the line device with a very high price. I've been wanting to buy the Wiim for some time and your video helped me decide. thanks!
Great channel. I bought one. I already have a Mini, which has been great, so I had high hopes for the Pro. I bought the Pro because I wanted an extra optical input for my TV. The Pro was a headache and I returned it. It would not stay connected to my WiFi network, nor would it maintain a stable connection to my phone. Apparently this is not uncommon based on many reviews on Amazon. The Mini works flawlessly. I got around the optical input requirement by using an optical to Coax converter and running the TV optical out to the coax input on my DAC (SMSL D300).
Thanks for this great review! I was one of the people who requested this review and I appreciate it! I bought a Topping P50 linear power supply a few weeks ago which has 5V and 15V outputs which allows it to work with both my iFi Zen Stream (15V) and a Wiim Pro Plus (5V). It made a really big difference with my Zen Stream! My plan is to now buy a Wiim Pro Plus (using it with the Topping LPS) and compare the two! Thank you again!
@@haydenbull6622 I’m aware but there are several people on the WiiM forums using a P50 with the WiiM with no issues and also someone contacted WiiM about using the P50 and they said it will be just fine. I’m going to try it.
Thanks very much another great review I recently owned Audiolab 6000N Play Streamer great build with linear PS also purchased other CD trasport and 6000A intergated amp. I just didnt like software is not very usefully. Slow and clunky using stream music app my phone . With Spotify always pause after 30 mins streaming I sold recently and purchased Wiim Pro + and used ifi Audio Power X PS the sound was great not at same level as Audiolab 6000n . I just purchased used Atto Shanti Dual Linear Ultra Low Power supply for $C125.00 compare to retail price from $C230.00 plus HST here in Canada . My currently budget build as follows : Audiolab 6000A intergated Amp with B & W 685 S2 Bookself speakers and my external DAC Denafrips Ares 2 now sound is on par with 6000N Play other than build .
I have two Pros and two minis. The pros feed into an upgraded Geshelli J2 and a SMSL A500mkII. I use an Ifi power supply on one of the pros in my reference system. Absolutely awesome products and great software updates very frequently.
Thanks for sharing. Were you having any hum/noise in your system before using the ifi power supply ? Are you also using an ifi with the J2 or the smsl ? Which ifi ipower did you buy ? Thanks.
The J2 was better in my listening room (more natural, deeper soundstage). But the SMSL is super good and I have it in my living room where it bettered a Modi+
@@leodesforges161 Were you able to tell the difference on the J2s with the sparko opamps rca vs balanced ? Since you have the ipower 2 & the ipower x and the J2s with sparko opamps have found a big difference or just a bit with the ifi &J2s? Thanks
I run RCA out only. So the sparkos is on that output only. It's impossible to A/B those components, as it's too slow. All I can say is I got more of that "magic" effect with the setup as it is now vs stock. That could all be psychosomatic. But I had the opamp already and for $100 for the power supply, I'll take any gains, real or fake, at that price. @@deadline7610
Just finished setting up with Spotify connect through a Yamaha as2100 and JBL L52s via RCAs, maxed out the streaming quality 192/24. For the price I am very pleased. Previously Istreaming from my phone via aptx Blutooth, Arcam rblink. Now no Blutooth compression, phone DAC etc. I can thoroughly recommend.
Hello...very nice review, and thx for tip....I have Wiim pro, via coax out to Marantz hd dac1, via analog out to my amp Musical fidelity m5 si, with b&w 703 s2....Today i get ifi I power mkIi..., and I can say it is a big difference in sound...really big improvement...very satisfied....
Thanks for the review. Have seen and heard multiple positive reviews. Fantastic to see quality equipment that is relatively affordable. Will allow more people to stream music including upgrading old systems that don’t have a streamer and/or DAC.
I have been weighing whether to buy the Wii Pro Plus and your review helped me with my decision. What was the icing on the cake was the daily deal on Amazon today that had the price at $186.00!! I Could not pass that up.
The only negative for the whole wiim family is the absence of USB ports i.e. lack of portable storage access (USB Disks, HDDs etc) as well as a USB port for accepting external USB DACs. And this is only thing stopping me from buying Wiim pro as I dont use any streaming services but only locally stored files.
WiiM listened, they are coming out with the WiiM AMP. It has USB input and HDMI ARC, along with other features. Will sell for $300 USD. It can be used as a stand alone streamer or all in one integrated amp/preamp. Very cool. Should be available in a few weeks, or even days. They are already on sale in Europe.
I tested the Wiim pro plus alongside with the Argon SOLO. The Wiim was nice, because it had EQ and a native app. But to me, the sound quality is the most important, and the Wiim sounded a bit more harsh and flat than the Argon. So even though I liked the app, I kept the Argon and returned the Wiim.
@@bebidos5923 i tried both ways. The internal DAC of the Argon was the best to my ears. I also tried both via optical cables to my audiolab 6000a. But the Argon DAC sounds better than the Audiolabs.
As always, great work! I'm just curious, did you connect the Wiim to the Shanti using the 1A or 3A output? Did you notice any differences between the two outputs? Thanks
Thanks Srbo for this review! As a WiiM Mini user and a former BlueSound owner, I can relate to your points regarding both the software and the hardware. WiiMHome is not at the same level as the BlueOS, but it's pretty darn close. And since WiiM is constantly upgrading it's software, the gap will close in the end. Regarding the sound, I couldn't really find any negative differences when I switched from Node 130 to the WiiM Mini. And for a 5x price difference, there should be a significant sound difference in favour of the NODE. There isn't...
@carlose.martinez545 I was referring to the sound of streamers, connected to the same DAC, using optical connection. I did not hear any significant difference between the two
One thing I don't know is if the Wiim has an USB output to connect the DAC too. The last time I checked they didn't. USB interfaced to a DAC is better than optical or coaxial.
@@carlose.martinez545 I have a Wiim Mini, which only has an optical output. As far as I know, Wiim Pro and Pro+ have a coaxial as well. No usb outputs on any of them
A very well presented ,honest informative review , at present, I don't own any streamers ,and I'm on a budget , so I am going to purchase the Wimm Pro + and see what the world of streamers offers. Cheers mate.
@chrissomerville2625 To be honest, I purchased the wiim pro and have had it a few months now, and regret it. Only because I still end up playing my cd and Vinyl collection more , so in fairness I just wasted my money on another gadget that I didn't really need.
Great review! I picked up the standard pro version since I’m feeding this to an external dac and wont use the upgraded internal dac on the plus model. This is a great streamer.
Hello and congratulations on the review. It would be interesting to have a video with a complete system with Wiim pro plus, amplifier and headphones. Bye
I have not experienced it, but if it is true that the only difference between Pro and Pro Plus is the DAC/Analogie-out section, then “basic” WiiM Pro should even be a better value as Digital Transport only.
The Plus has a better internal power regulation as well. Also the Plus can do DSD 512 from the analog output. I only wish they added USB out so one could get DSD 512 digital out.
I had a mini optical into SU-1 and it was terrible. I ordered a pro plus and cant believe how good it is. I prefer the internal DAC to the SU-1. The SU-1 is going to my home office bookshelf.
Enjoying your reviews and helping me decide whether to add a DAC to wiim Ultra or not. But I have a question, once you take the DAC out of the equation with these streamers what is affecting sound quality in respect of streaming as you mention here there is a difference. I thought bit perfect is bit perfect transmission of the signal.
If you just use your phone, the app is great..Windows version is not up to scratch and doesn't yet offer a search function. It has been in Beta mode for a long time but hopefully they can get it to match the android app capabilities one day. Other than that it's a great streamer.
Great video, and so true in regards to the Pi2 products, I found the same with the Mercury v2, that edgy sharp sound, rather thin and too detailed to my liking when compared to the WiiM Pro. Also agree on the Node comparison, the N130 was not as enjoyable as the WiiM pro. I am using the WiiM Pro with a PS Audio DAC/Preamp out to a vintage Sansui 4000 receiver/amp with Zu DW6 Speakers and it sounds fantastic. Much better than the other streamers I have had through here. Oh, using the LHY Linear Power Supply, that really cleaned things up and took the WiiM Pro to the next level.
I like your setup. I'm running the Wiim Pro Plus through my vintage Pioneer SX-1080 receiver, Elac Solano speakers and Elac Varro Reference 10" sub. Sound is truly incredible. I'm curious about your LHY Linear Power Supply, can you elaborate, please...thanks.
Hello thanks for this great review. IT is a good Combination the chord Mojo 2 to use at external dac on the wiim pro plus.I will try this perhaps.Sorry for my bad english,Hope you understand IT.
Wait, when comparing the digital outs, why would they have different qualities?? They should be the same when digital, it's all just ones and zeros when they're converted to PCM. And should all be the same until they're sent to an external dac.
I have the Wiim Pro Plus myself. The internal DAC is terrible, but who cares. It connects to almost anything. I use the digital coax to connect to an external DAC. It works out great and it is high value for money.
How do you define terrible. See the objective measurements on Audio Science Revew. 120dB+ S/N, dead flat frequency response, excellent jitter rejection: the DAC is nearly perfect. It is transparent. Subjectively iWii says it sounds great. If you hear terrible there is expectation bias in your reaction.
@@goodsound4756 I do think that about speaker wire.....and DACS. Science can prove that a $25 cable performs exactly like a $500 one, and that $200 DACS can measure exactly like a $2K or more one. Perhaps there is some tiny tiny difference we cannot measure. But....if you say a perfect measuring DAC is TERRIBLE...that is in your head. Expectation Bias is real for all of us.

Hi Srboljub. Does the Wiim Pro Plus as a digital transport with linear power supply sounds better than ifi zen stream with linear power supply? I would appreciate your feedback. Thank you! Marcin
No difference in sound when I used an iFi iPower supply or plugging it into anything else like my couch usb charger when used as a transport. When used as a DAC, yes. But not as much, sounds almost the same as with the included charger
I recently picked up a Topping P50 linear power supply for my Zen Sream and made a big impact on the sound. It has 15V output which works with the Zen Stream. It also has a 5V output as well, which the Wiim requires, and so I plan to pick up a Wiim soon and compare, I'll post back here and let you know!
Verry intresting review but would be even more intresting to compare pro+ shanti vs blusound 2021 side by side they are same price. Memory is not good at audio 😉
Thanks for the review it was informative and helpful. One point though has the digital output of the Wiim Pro Plus been upgraded? Is it the same same as the digtal output on the Wiim Mini?
Hello! This is exactly the question I was going to ask, as a WiiM Mini owner. Would I get anything by upgrading to a Pro/Pro Plus from a Mini, using the Opt out to my SU-1? Apart from having a Coax, is there any other difference? Has anyone compared this?
Thanks for the review. Just purchased this streamer, should get in in a week or so. Main reason is that I have an Denon X3500h AVR (the DAC integration isn't super) with Heos, which I thought I would love. Buy I am getting irritated with Heos more and more. The UI sucks, they don't support Deezer HIFI, don't support FLOW on deezer and can't use the Deezer/Tidal/Spotify 'Connect with Denon/Heos. I can attach my Denon Cd Player to the Wiim and see if the DAC is an improvement. I can use any Alexa/Google speaker and let it use the Wiim multiroom, so i can place a simple speaker in the bathroom. I decided to go with the plus since it has a better DAC and internal clock. Not sure if i go for a upgraded power supply.. since that would get the price above 350... But even in EU i could get the Wiim Pro Plus for 220 delivered on my doorstep. Thanks for all the info!
iiWi Reviews - I'm a little confused. I am seeing multiple people that claiming that using an external power supply with Wiim provides no improvement when Wiim is using the Digital connection, but you are saying that using Wiim solely as a streamer gets a big improvement from a better power supply. If I am using the optical out connection from Wiim should I be hearing an improvement with an external LPS?
Hi. My reviews are regularly coming out on this channel as always (every 5 days on avarage). Everything is free to watch as always. Maybe RUclips stopped showing them to you for some reason. Try clicking the bell button and see if it will change anything. Cheers!
Thanks for another great review. I have the Allo Digione with the Nirvana SMPS power supply which improved the quality. Might this PS with the Wiim PP be an upgrade over the Digione?
Thank you for the video. I have a Yamaha AVR and want to use the Pro Plus to connect to it. When you say Digital outputs VS. Analog outputs, what does that mean please.
Hi! I like your reviews very much because from the way youre discribeing the way component sounds I know that you know what are you talking about if this make sense 😂 Im asking you for advice now... I have this little thing Wimm Pro Plus. DAC section sounds very good. Im looking for new amp right now. I like density in midrange. Wet sounding vocals. I like to feel some heaft in migrange area. Should i look for Dac with this kind of sound and neutral amp or warm amp and stay with DAC inside Wiim? Could you give me some example devices that saounds like that? Thanks!
If using anything other than USB, the clock used is in the source. USB uses the clock in the DAC, but there is no USB out on the Wiim, so this information helps. Thank you!
I delved into this more, and it looks like the digital board on both the Pro and Pro Plus are the same, and that the Amlogic A113x holds the clocks (identical in both).
I am orientating (not yet sure on getting one) on the option for a decent budget pre-amp with sub out and integrated streamer to connect to a 70s Pioneer amp. Arylic had one but seems now a bit difficult to find in Europe.
With your vintage Pioneer, I would go with the Pro Plus with the remote before going with a proper preamp. The Pro will work as a preamp with the remote. Or, WiiM has their WiiM Amp coming out soon, will retail for $300 USD. It has sub woofer out, along with USB input and HDMI ARC. You can use the WiiM Amp as a stand alone preamp, or fully integrated amp/pre. For subwoofer output on your Pioneer, if it is like my Sansui 4000, which I run two SVS SB3000 subs with, I use the Speaker A+B selector switch and use Speaker Cables to RCA Plug Adapters. No issues and the subs, they perform flawlessly.
Hello Srboljub. I'm following your channel for some time and I like very much your videos. May I ask an advice ? I have at my workplace a Mojo2 and a Chord Poly streamer. I like the Mojo2, but the streamer is a pain, I mean sometimes the battery won't charge, or the streamer won't connect, I like though because it is compact. I wanted to change for the Eversolo A6 but my problem is that I like very much Mojo2. So after seeing the vide on the Wiim Pro, it seems that this as a streamer might be as good as the Eversolo if I 'm correct. Would you find the combination Wiim Pro + Mojo2 a good one ? Will be the streamer at the same level as the Mojo2 ? Thank you
Just got the Wiim Pro Plus, and what do you think would be a worth while upgrade for an external DAC over this internal DAC? Is something like a Denfrips Ares 2/Enyo high enough or do you recommend something cheaper/more expensive?
I agree with your assessment of the Pro Plus as excellent value for money. Before the Plus came out, I started using the Mini/SMSL-SU1 combination. I found the Wiim software less functional than Bubble and nowhere as good-sounding as UPNP from Audrivana Studio. As an alternative to the more expensive power supply options, I'd like your opinion on using an Apple iPad/iPhone power adapter. My hunch is it's better than what Wiim provides and can be purchased for around $15.
If you don’t need an upgraded input on the RCAs as an ADC source or use it as a DAC then no. I returned my pro plus, has gapless noise issues when used as a DAC, not as transport though. Find my comment if u want more info 😉
I asked this question to Wiim support, and they agreed that it wasn't worthwhile to upgrade if using an external DAC anyway. So I'll wait for the Wiim Pro ++ (or maybe +++).
Hi I have a Wiim Pro Plus, it sounds good but wanted to know how much I would need to spend on a new DAC to make a notable improvement on it please? I'm still within the retruns windown for the Plus so could always swap out for a Wiim Pro to just use the optical out. I have the Kef LS50 speakers and Arcam A39 amp. My budget is up to about £500 for a new DAC. Alternatively I could get the Eversolo but I like the Wiim software and the fact it does auto source swicthing and has a good track record for updates.
Hi, thanks for the review! One thing that I have to understand, the WiiM is Bit-Perfect by definition, that means the digital information goes directly to the DAC with any change. So how can you say that better power supply improve its digital ability? I thought bit-perfect is bit-perfect ;) thanks for your answer
Electrical noise has a way to creep in not into the bits and information, but trough the electrical signal carrying those bits or in a form of jitter. There are more versed people on this topic like Hans Beekhuyzen. I don't care much about why, I care more about how much it effects the final result. And in good enough systems it affects the sound noticeably.
Other than Spotify could you recommend another one because I have noticed that the same quality like you said isn't so great on Spotify this is ever since I've had a wiim pro + as I'm a total novice to a streaming for me it won't ever change what I love most of all which is CD and vinyl .
Tidal has really good quality and big library. I would try it at least. Qobuz has fantastic sound quality but the library is not as good so it's not ideal choice unless you use multiple services.
Wiim is better to my ears. Tonality is fuller and more natural. Zen Stream appears lean and bright in a direct comparison. Also, Wiim has much better software.
@@iiWiReviews huge thanks for this. Is there any difference in the streaming portion of Wiim across mini, pro, pro plus, etc.? I don't need the dac (already have a good Audio-gd R2R and DDC), just ability to transport music from Tidal / Spotify / AM, etc.
thanks for your recommendation regarding power supply vs eversolo. i had 2 questions: i cant find allo shanti. can there be some better or same level replacement? 2. wiim cant stream local dsd files even via roon. is mac mini directly to musician pegasus via jriver/audirvana good enough?
If one have multiroom system based on LinkPlay boards (Wiim, Arylic, and many others) is it possible to involve WiimPro in the network and connecting CD player to WiimPro (digital or analog) strim music from CD (and attached WiimPro) to other renderers in network?
Does it make sense to upgrade with LPS when using wiim pro plus as a stream/dac? Is it also a obvious improvement in terms the sound quality compare with its own?
It's not as clear as Rivo, especially if Rivo is used with the USB out, but it's not that far behind as price would suggest either. The rest of the system have to be very transparent for Rivo to show its skill.
Thank you for your quick response. I am using a zen stream at the moment as a streamer only feeding a topping d70s. I wonder if the wiim pro will be an upgrade. (Schiit Freya pre amp, xtz edge A2-300 amp, Triangle comet EZ speaker).
I have a Wiim pro plus however it’s connected via coaxial to an Audiolab 6000a amp. I find it’s an improvement on the Wiim’s DAC. It still doesn’t sound as good as my Audiolab cdt cd transport. Would a linear power supply help ? 🙏

No, I just checked and I'm running the app's latest version. They're always updating the app and adding new services so perhaps one day. You can check the development roadmap on their website of upcoming features.
@@funcionyforma I get that. My question involves the comparative value of Wiim Mini (and SU-1) to Wiim Pro Plus - in other words I want to know if I can get better sound than the Pro plus out of the Mini using SU-1 external DAC. To answer this needs someone who knows if the Wiim Mini with SU-1 would sound same as Wiim Pro Plus with Su-1. In that case you can get better sound for $50 less. On the other hand the Wiim Pro plus is a single unit with better bundled features.
@@kimmidgley5525 no, you won´t get better sound from the pro plus because it will only work sending the same digital signal as the mini, through it digital output to the su-1. In both cases, the su-1 will processes the mere digital signal (threre's no difference where it comes, it's just 0´s and 1´s) converting it to an analog signal. It's stated in the video as well, the improvements on the pro plus are in the internal dac and the analog output. If you send the signal to an external dac, the internal dac of the pro plus won't be used, hence you you will not benefit of it's improvements, Maybe, just maybe, the su-1 could sound better trough it's coaxial input, wich can't be used with the mini (it only have optical output). But surely the difference will be so marginal, it won't justify the pro plus extra money.
I have a SMSL SU9n DAC. How do you recommend using Wiim pro (not the plus) and the linear power supply with my SMSL DAC. Or is there any difference between the Wiim Pro and Pro Plus if we are not using its internal DAC
Pozdrav...super recenzija...moze pitanje...ako koristim wiim samo kao digital out coax, da li je razlika ako koristim ifi power za napajanje, umjesto original charger...hvala
Does it have the same functionality issues as the wiim mini with the built-in apps where you can't browse all content which is fairly useless. You can use tidal connect etc however I don't see the point in the built-in apps if they don't work properly.
Having owned the Cambridge CXN v2, I like the WiiM Pro much better, and it all boils down to the software.
Juicer sounds? Lol
Thank you very much for another excellent review. For those who want to use the Wiim PRO Plus only as a streamer, using an external DAC, the Wiim PRO is the best option because it usually costs €145 when it is on sale and has the same streamer as the Wiim PRO Plus.
@@user-jp3vl5jx1j I ended up buying my Wiim Pro for €116 on Amazon's Black Friday and I'm very happy with the purchase.
The input section is different than the wiim pro with 192 kHz/24-bit vs. 48kHz/24-bit.
I was about to ask that. I have an external DAC but I haven’t gotten a streamer yet. So the Pro Plus doesn’t make any difference over the Pro if I out only digital, right?
Yes, thats right.
@@PauloFerreira-hh6zv I wondering if the new wiim ultra would make any diference in digital output.
I love how you explain how these can be used in all capacities for those of us trying our best to grasp the subtleties. Much appreciated.
Excellent review. Cool runnings
Thanks for your support! 👍
Your review that the sound quality through optical output is very good is very very true....thank you very much
Amazing channel!

I've had this a couple of mths now and it is a great device but if you want to take it up a notch buy the ifi power2 it adds to the sound quality voices are much clearer and sharper. My home is only 11yrs old and it definitely cleaned up the line noise.
Thanks for sharing.
Were you having a hum problem from your outlet before the ifi power 2 ?
Thanks
I saw some analyzes of the Wiim pro plus, all very interesting, however your analysis added 2 important things:
The issue of replacing the original power supply and the comparison with the EverSolo, which I consider to be a top of the line device with a very high price.
I have used my pro on two different wifi networks and it has been easy to link with great app guidance - and rock steady. My experience.
@@anxiousapplianceI ordered a replacement and it works perfectly.
Please let me know what your results are.🙂
@@irisfinchmusic Will do! I don't know exactly when i will get a Wiim, maybe black Friday, but will post back here when I compare!
The Topping P50 only outputs 1amp on 5v which is not enough for the Wiim Pro plus, only good for the mini
@@haydenbull6622 I’m aware but there are several people on the WiiM forums using a P50 with the WiiM with no issues and also someone contacted WiiM about using the P50 and they said it will be just fine. I’m going to try it.

Were you having any hum/noise in your system before using the ifi power supply ?
Are you also using an ifi with the J2 or the smsl ?
Which ifi ipower did you buy ?
Thanks.
No hum before or after. Ifi silent power 2 on the WiiM and Ifi ipowerX on the J2 dac (which has sparkos upgrade and the AKM single chip).

Excellent and informative review! Thank you for such a thoughtful analysis of the Wiim Pro Plus.

Thanks for the review. Have seen and heard multiple positive reviews. Fantastic to see quality equipment that is relatively affordable. Will allow more people to stream music including upgrading old systems that don’t have a streamer and/or DAC.
@iiWiReviews a fantastically dissected component/feature review. Couldn't ask for more. Thanks a bunch!
Did you use them with internal or external DAC?
@@bebidos5923 i tried both ways. The internal DAC of the Argon was the best to my ears. I also tried both via optical cables to my audiolab 6000a. But the Argon DAC sounds better than the Audiolabs.
As always, great work! I'm just curious, did you connect the Wiim to the Shanti using the 1A or 3A output? Did you notice any differences between the two outputs? Thanks

But what about just the digital streamers of both units? How do they compare?
@carlose.martinez545 I was referring to the sound of streamers, connected to the same DAC, using optical connection. I did not hear any significant difference between the two
One thing I don't know is if the Wiim has an USB output to connect the DAC too. The last time I checked they didn't. USB interfaced to a DAC is better than optical or coaxial.
@@carlose.martinez545 I have a Wiim Mini, which only has an optical output.

I have two pros, one with an Ifi power supply. A great device, for sure.

I've been looking at this device too. Thanks for your review. Love the guitar analogy!

Hello! Very interesting when used as a streamer. iiWi, what is your current Reference Streamer??
For USB, AES, I2S etc it is EverSolo DMP-A8.

How does it compare to Zen Stream? USB on Zen stream much better than outputs on Wiim pro Plus?
I have one of these, and it works well for me, as I use it to cast Soundcloud, as I don't have an optional input on my Lampizator Pacific.
Thank you, but the real question is: How does it compare to the Wiim Mini as a streamer using optical out to external dac only???
The pro plus is upgraded from both the mini and the pro input and output. The wiim website compares the specs.
Have the WiiM Pro and you’re correct on LPS as I run it that way.
There are still people who think they can buy something for $200 that is supposed to sound like 2K or even more, that’s not realistic…

Hello!
This is exactly the question I was going to ask, as a WiiM Mini owner. Would I get anything by upgrading to a Pro/Pro Plus from a Mini, using the Opt out to my SU-1? Apart from having a Coax, is there any other difference? Has anyone compared this?
upgraded.

I have this little thing Wimm Pro Plus. DAC section sounds very good. Im looking for new amp right now. I like density in midrange. Wet sounding vocals. I like to feel some heaft in migrange area. Should i look for Dac with this kind of sound and neutral amp or warm amp and stay with DAC inside Wiim? Could you give me some example devices that saounds like that? Thanks!
Does anyone know if the Wiim Pro and Wiim Pro Plus sound identical if used just as a streamer with digital out to a dac?
Hans Beekhuyzen says that the Pro+ as a better CLOCK than the Pro. so it should have less jitter.
I guess you don’t get an opinion. Shame I was wondering the same thing.
Is it worth to pay for the Pro Plus compared to Pro when connected to an external DAC(Gustard R26)?
I have Wiim pro and Wiim mini and they fail to multiroom playing. They sound with delay
Well done.

@@iiWiReviews big thanks. Will I hear an improvement over node 2 on digital coax?
@@iiWiReviews If I was using an external dac would you suggest an IFI power supply better used with the Wiim or the external dac ?

Other than Spotify could you recommend another one because I have noticed that the same quality like you said isn't so great on Spotify this is ever since I've had a wiim pro + as I'm a total novice to a streaming for me it won't ever change what I love most of all which is CD and vinyl .
Tidal has really good quality and big library. I would try it at least.
Qobuz has fantastic sound quality but the library is not as good so it's not ideal choice unless you use multiple services.
So add LPS and DAC and it's not really very far from the price of the Eversolo?
What externals dacs in the 300-500usd range would you pair to the Wiim pro to equal or better the analog sound qualities of the eversolo dm6?
If you're in the US then Geshelli J2S. If not then SMSL SU-9 pro for example.
Great channel!!! What are your opinions on Wiim Pro streamer vs. Zen Stream for just the streaming purpose? I have dedicated dac and ddc...
Wiim is better to my ears. Tonality is fuller and more natural. Zen Stream appears lean and bright in a direct comparison. Also, Wiim has much better software.
@@iiWiReviews ok great info- thanks!!!
Many thanks for this great review . I am just wondering how does it compete as a streamer only vs the volumio Rivo that you review earlier on?
It's not as clear as Rivo, especially if Rivo is used with the USB out, but it's not that far behind as price would suggest either. The rest of the system have to be very transparent for Rivo to show its skill.
Thank you for your quick response.
I am using a zen stream at the moment as a streamer only feeding a topping d70s. I wonder if the wiim pro will be an upgrade.
(Schiit Freya pre amp, xtz edge A2-300 amp, Triangle comet EZ speaker).
🤔
No, Zen Stream is equally good.
@@craouiI think using usb(IFI stream) to D70s is better.
Hi, can i connect it to active speakers?
I would be using an external liner supply for both my Topping D50 DAC and Wiim Pro +. What other affordable DAC would considerably input that system?
I have a Wiim pro plus however it’s connected via coaxial to an Audiolab 6000a amp. I find it’s an improvement on the Wiim’s DAC.
It still doesn’t sound as good as my Audiolab cdt cd transport. Would a linear power supply help ? 🙏
DAC aside, like for like (with and without PS upgrade), is iiWi upgrade from Wiim Mini to Pro Plus?
I returned my pro plus yesterday.
Does WiiM support RUclips Music premium? Thanks for the review.
No, I just checked and I'm running the app's latest version. They're always updating the app and adding new services so perhaps one day. You can check the development roadmap on their website of upcoming features.
ano, je mozne sdilet pres ikonku v youmusic
@@spamcan9208 thanks man, I appreciate your answer, still looking for a stream device compatible with you tube music...
You can cast YT music to it over chromecast, but no dedicated app for it, will need a separate device like ur phone to cast to it
Just got it. The DAC is so good that it is my end game DAC.
What ifi volt would you upgrade the power supply to on the Wiim pro plus , 5, 9, 12?
If I remember correctly it is 5V. Look at the power brick sticker and it will be written on it.
As a treater how Wouk you compare the Wiim vs the Google chromcast audio dongle? I have a external dac so I’m thinking about the streamer
Thanks
Why instead of buying a linear power buy the smsl su1 dac? Thanks
how is the sound of wiim pro plus compared to an allo boss2 dac?
What type of power supply did you purchase to make it sound better?
Does adding a linear power supply add much to the performance of the DAC and analogue outputs ?
I have Edifier S2000 pro speakers is it worth getting Wiim Pro Plus? Or
I have a Topping E50 with a Node 130 but idk if I should combine that or with Wiim pro plus ? Any suggestions
Thanks! Dumb question. If I add the iFi power2, should I do the 5V version?
Thanks for your support! Yes, 5V is the correct version.
No tiene posibilidad conectar un disco duro?...
I have sonance mag8 speakers, can I plug them straight into this and it will work, like the sonos amp?
How do you think this Wiim Pro Plus would compare sonically with Wiim Mini + SMSL SU-1?
Interested as well
He said so on the video. If su-1 seems to be slighly better than pro plus internal dac, there's your answer.
If you send the signal to an external dac, the internal dac of the pro plus won't be used, hence you you will not benefit of it's improvements,
Maybe, just maybe, the su-1 could sound better trough it's coaxial input, wich can't be used with the mini (it only have optical output). But surely the difference will be so marginal, it won't justify the pro plus extra money.
Can you read lyrics from the app?
I have a SMSL SU9n DAC. How do you recommend using Wiim pro (not the plus) and the linear power supply with my SMSL DAC. Or is there any difference between the Wiim Pro and Pro Plus if we are not using its internal DAC
I haven't tried not plus version but all points out that they're the same aside from the DAC part.

Does it have the same functionality issues as the wiim mini with the built-in apps where you can't browse all content which is fairly useless. You can use tidal connect etc however I don't see the point in the built-in apps if they don't work properly.
