- While we had a bit of a low-key time in Semarang touristing wise, Carson really got to use his language skills! We met the nicest people in the town and during the Lunar New Year celebration, and Carson even got to sing his favourite song - Tak Segampang Itu!

so you didn't go to Semarang old town, or go slightly out of town to Bandungan temples? Bandungan is quite nice, especially the fresh market section. At least visit the Banaran coffee plantation and buy locally made instant coffee and enjoy your time near the Rawa Pening lake.

Semarang is the capital of Central Java and the Borobudur temple is in the Central Java region, precisely in Magelang district. Why do foreigners who come to Borobudur Temple know it as being in Yogyakarta? Excuse me. BTW Lawang Sewu was once the office of the Indonesian National Army and my late father, who was a soldier, once had an office in Lawang Sewu
