At least Pirate Radio woke up the BBC and gave it a damn good kick up the arse. Before Pirate Radio the ONLY music teenagers had was Radio Luxembourg and the weekly Top 20 chart countdown with Fluff Freeman on the Light programme.

Was a great great great idea of its time and I listened along with most of that nation ('Caroline the sound of the nation') as the establishment hadn't moved with the times.. Trouble is it wouldn't work that well today. The music today (a lot of it is worse than the bubblegum pop stuff that was on Caroline) is different and fragmented. There is still a need for good radio today but tastes mature and we all grow.... I am going to check out Radio Caroline via the web though.

what happened was radio caroline was broadcasting outside the law and the goverment of that day broke the law by smashing all the equipment and man handling the staff when she was broadcasting from this ship for over 6 years it is very politcal

@lesthepost of course they can, thats what makes them government.. they see something they don't like, the create a law to make it illegal. and that still happens today.

I think any goverment would have you sectioned if you tried, I have tried to take companys I have worked for to court when the law was broken and you never win money talks

I am 30 years old I hate been judged as "young People" we are not all the same! I have stood up for my rights and will continue to do so! However you can not always win the system makes sure of that from employment Tribunals to standing up to the law! I was in court and said to the Judge sorry I did this because I was hard up then a slap on the wrist, if I then said I did this because I think the law is wrong I would be sent to prison
