      Yeh the minor supporting characters rarely got the good lines but that waitress got the laugh line and she nailed it. Best minor supporting performance with only one line I saw in this series.

      Yes, a lot of whites fled South Africa after apartheid due to fear of revenge/reprisal by the new majority government, so it could go either way. Either he's Black and his family left due to apartheid, or he's white and they left as apartheid was ending

    I love the writing in this episode. It goes from something like the music making elaine assume hes black, to the fact that he says he hates it. Then he bangs on the wall loudly saying YO YO turn it down, and then elaines like wait maybe he is black again lol. Then she asks about the cultural significance of the designs and he says African making her feel for sure he is black. Then finally he says South African which could imply hes just a regular South African white dude!! Thats fucking hilarious.

      It's to show the audience how deep rooted racism is in the mind of white people. How elaine instead of going with the flow like one would in any dating relationship.     Elaine does in fact look Spanish in this season, whereas she looked white in the earlier seasons.
    Elaine has features that enable her to pass as various ethnic races. hell, there was that one episode when they go to India, and Elaine in the cultural clothing, makeup, hair and accessories really made her look legit Indian.

      Yeah, I know what you're all saying, but still, ethnic groups tend to have an average appearance. This is why we can distinguish a Taiwanese from a Nigerian.
      Iberians, for example, tend to have dark hair and brown/hazel eyes with olive complexion. They can certainly vary, but that's the average.
