The best electric car was built by Scalectrix.
50 grand for a battery powered skoda ,who would have thought it .
Used to call them skips on wheels
At trade-in, the wheels will be worth something.
That’s crazy money imagine an ex demo petrol car you could have a massive choice.
They say the first sign of insanity is not learning from Your mistakes
No first sign of insanity is looking for hairs on the palms of your hands. 🧐
@@kevinmott6205
The second sign is finding them!😂
🙃🤪😜😵😋spot on🤯🥳🥸😎🧐
The first sign is talking to yourself. The second is arguing with yourself. And the third is arguing with yourself and losing the arguments. Lee does this occasionally.
Most of the 'ground breaking' features of this Skoda were fitted as standard on Volvo's
over 40 years ago, and Volvo are Swedish not German.
and to best of my knowledge Volvo are the only brand with the bonnet airbag system on several of their brand, for over a decade, for the well being of cyclists and pedestrians who cleanly roll and arrest with minimal injury in event of a frontal impact if the City Safety arrest radar has not fully automatically stopped the Volvo in time. One further dilution of safety for many is the deep collision frontage presentation due to deepened vehicles to accommodate the plasma bricks. I have survived three totalled Volvos and a test pilot friend always drove them as he liked to stay vital "so he could continue to justify his highly remunerated adrenaline and brown trouser contingency planning in the cockpit". Intelligent and technology are just advertising buzzwords of little integrity when analyzed critically on merit. From a Risk assessment stance no EV would be permitted; money has cleared changed hands behind closed doors.
Volvo Car Group is owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding of China
@@barronsclose Yes they are now. But not when proper Volvos were made, 1970's, 80's and 90's.
In 1910 electric cars made no sense. In 2024 electric cars make no sense.....🤪
In 1910 they made a lot of sense as to start an ancient ICE involved hand cranking the old asthmatic crappy lump and breaking your wrist.
It wasn't until electric start came along it became less dangerous.
Have a look at Jay Leno garage for some great car history, from someone who has all types of cars and more.
In 1910, cars probably used lead acid batteries and had a range of a few miles. In 2024, electric cars have ranges of hundreds of miles. To maximise the issue of range anxiety and cost, Lee has to do long distance challenges and minimise home charging. Also, in 1910 there were a tiny number of cars on the road whereas today there are over 30 million, which have a huge impact on transport CO2 emissions as well as more localised air pollution with Nitrous Oxides and particulates. EVs are clearly a step in the right direction but we really need to cut down on car use by reducing car dependency.
@@johnmcconville6055Cars were a major improvement on horse drawn vehicles - not just in terms of speed. Horses made the streets filthy and encouraged flies that spread disease. They were dangerous as they are difficult to control and would sometimes bolt (as we saw with those horses in London last week). Also, a horse drawn vehicle took up much more road space than a car. Whilst its probably true that average traffic speed in London is not much greater than a century ago, capacity has increased considerably.
The sales guy summed it up perfectly: They have a place in the market. A PLACE. They are not the SOLUTION or REPLACEMENT for ICE's.
@shanewaterman4125 I enjoyed his honesty and he's right.
Not everyone wants an electric box to drive round in
A parking ticket clip! Wow. Like every volvo I've ever owned.
So this is the secret of boosting EV sales. If you return your faulty EV and have it exchanged for another, thats 2 sales of EV's. Very smart!
Lee wont knock the EVs on the head ......have you seen the amount of view's he gets with his EV vlogs 👍
Don't blame him. Good business plan. Gammons hate EVs, easy pickings. Just make videos pretending EVs are terrible, they eat it up. Plenty of views, likes and comments.
Personally I prefer Lee's non EV material, much more entertaining
Hypocrisy
That new car smell is the carcinogenic fumes coming out of the plastics
I agree with him about London congestion was manufactured to introduce congestion charging. I worked in the West end for 36 years and commuted by motorcycle everyday. The traffic light phasing was changed, more traffic lights were put in & bus stops had traffic island's put in the middle of the road to stop cars from going past the bus. Now they have all these low traffic zones.
You are 100% correct and don't forget those awful Cycle Lanes.
I lived in London in the 90s. Traffic was so bad that I once got caught in a traffic jam at 2am. Realistically, cars - which seldom have more than one occupant - are an extremely inefficient way of travelling round a city. Cycling used to be a form of suicide but I am impressed by how many people now use the expanded cycling network.
Do we want to go down the American route of massive umpteen lane freeways with city centres resembling post-war Hiroshima with huge swathes levelled for surface car parks? Or do we want vibrant cities with people given priority over cars, cycling encouraged and comprehensive transit networks constructed ?
Checked the price of your car today on We Buy Any Car. Just over £31,000, rediculous. £120,000 30 months ago No thanks.
I’ve never bought a new car as too expensive but mainly due to the massive loss incurred the moment you drive away, at least that’s what I believe. I live in South Wales and today saw a Porsche Taycan for the first time ever, lovely looking car but drove 20mph so wanted to smash into the back of the idiot!
Sadly no body is prepared to pay £120,000 theses days for a good car
.. Don’t worry it has a GFV (it’s on lease)
Most people bought a Porsche when their value was Ascending but now no-one wants them! They thought it was money at the end of the rainbow - and this is another example of it all going wrong and then moaning about his mistake. It’s s getting very tedious click bait
That’s shocking. Cripes.
I HATE touch screens in vehicles. Just try to use it driving along a bumpy country lanes. Nightmare.
You’re getting a new demonstrator while they repair all the things that are wrong with your car.
I purchased a Skoda fabia ICE car it's about five years old now.
It's a great car.
Bought a brand new Skoda Kamiq last week, fabulous car and superb quality, i’m a Skoda man for life now, of course it’s petrol, keep your EV !!
That's the point Lee. EV's for short journeys are fine but it's the long trips they want to stop us making.
Utter rubbish, just done a 200 mile round trip in my EV no need for a recharge, and ive taken my EV to the Arctic Circle and back a round trip of 2.5k.
Who are 'they' and why do they want to stop you making long journeys?
@@jock8523 Well you enjoy paying £1.50 per litre for your petrol while I pay rough eqiv. of about £1.40 per gallon when I charge at home, maintenance costs this year £150, zero car tax, and the car didn't cost me much more than equiv focus automatic, so who's the village idiot exactly?
Why do I feel like I just watched a Skoda advert. 😐
I like how it is illegal to look at or play with your cell phone while driving. However, it is ok to take your eyes off the road while looking at or adjusting the dash screen on your computer EV.
NUTTY.
Guess touchscreen and radio in ICE do it by themselves?
@@gahmed8047 we are talking about a specific make and model here, yah numpty
i do not understand why you would buy and expensive ev.
That new car smell of glue and plastic is very very toxic carcinogenic.
So is alcohol🕶😃😀😄😁

And blue asbestos!
Einstein apparently said "The definition of stupidity is repeating the same actions and expecting a different result."
Have I just watched a car salesman describe some 'clever' features on an EV that costs £45K, being a plastic parking ticket clip, a brolly and a plastic ice scraper (that doubles as a tyre tread depth measurer)??? What kind of mad world are we living in?
Simple really, as other cars do not have these simply clever features, the Parking Clip is great.
Name all of the cheaper cars that have those little extras.
I dont get how you are not allowed to hold a mobile phone but you have to put yourself and others in danger just to find and operate the radio/heater/ac etc on the stupid digital control panel.
Skoda isnt German. They are Czech Republic.
They were …… then the vag group bought them!
It's great in these modern times to see such a nice happy couple.
Thank you for your nice comment. We are very happy together. My wife and I say thank you and send you a wave and smiles.
Wow , an ice scraper and an umbrella , that sounds like good value then , worth every penny I'd say 😂
Most new EV smells, involVE A burning smell
As long as he's happy. Skoda used to be derided. From my experience in the motor trade, I found the Skoda a better car than it's brothers in VW and Seat. Much the same parts but made with better quality control.
It really is a great car, spec and build quality very good and the better option over te equivalent VW iD4 and Auto Etron
HOLD THE FRONT PAGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Skoda has three brand new features that will revolutionise motoring.
A plastic clip inside the windscreen ??????????
A space for an umbrella in the door panel ?????????
An ice scraper to save you buying a much better one in Halfords saving you 50p ????????
ffs yes, it's their USP you know, what a joke, and the salesman kept a straight face
Maybe the clip is a long forgotten feature making a comeback? My 2002 Volvo had one.
If you want anything durable and safe to drive in present day London surely a challenger 2 tank is the perfect vehicle. Plus its easy to park and can easily avoid the ULEZ charge (those cameras won't stand a chance)
I agree with the chap in your video traffic in London is manufactured. It’s not about emissions either. I do plumbing jobs around north, east, West, Central London I’m sitting in traffic more than ever because of LTN you can’t drive directly to the owners property. You have to go up some roads 2 to 300 yards down road for 200 and another 300 yards, that makes the journey longer so my van is on the road longer than it needs to be. I can’t drive directly to the job like I used to. They have forced all the cars vans taxis buses onto the main roads and the traffic is worse than ever. It’s designed to frustrate people out of their motor vehicles that’s my opinion.
Extremely well put, your opinion!
Bravo, it makes perfect sense.
What will become London without buildera like you in the future...
Thank GOD I do not live in London for more than 10 years after.15 years of livving in the capital...
🙏🏻
A nice looking car, shame it’s a Morag certified electrical device
That simply clever ticket holders included on 850 Volvo's, from the 90's. Geoff would love that 🤣
Never had me going,Lee wouldn't ever buy another.
An honest EV driver, it's on lease and decision based on business use and no banging on about environmental reasons.
Thank You.
The salesman said after a period of deliberation “ yes EV’s are OK , they have a place in the market “ , hardly singing it’s praise from the rooftops was he . Said it all really . Plus was the buyer Joe off the Royale Family TV show ? 😄😄
He's probably been fired by now!! 😅🤣
I think I'd like a follow up to this in a year or so to see how he's got on with the car in everyday use. Book it in Lee.
the first 6mins 45 secs lured into thinking the taycan was being replaced, in a different scenario advertising stds auth. would make a meal of this. The remainder a promo video for Rainworth Skoda well and truly .
You never asked the salesman if he drove an EV himself. I think that was a missed opportunity
If you get a new ev, you get a MUG.
says it all.
Most people would prefer a ICE car i think.
It is all about us as a business saving money, so this works. We also have ICE Cars.
Noticed that he only leases these EV heaps, so ready to ditch it at a moments notice. Virtually free of physical controls in the cabin - beyond dreadful just like the Mk.8 golf (same group of companies).
We lease because of Tax Advantages, VAT reclaim, No depreciation to us and with £9.00 Plus VAT Service and Maintenance a months it's a giveaway.
Coming soon to London pay-per-mile including EV’s thanks to the Mayor. What that man said about manufactured congestion he’s 100% correct. London is more congested AFTER the Con Charge was implemented.
Bought to save on congestion charge which is going to be scrapped for EV’s🤔confused
Last I heard road tax, sorry road fund licence, will become payable next year on EVs (unless it's deferred, again).
If motorists do switch to EVs the Inland Revenue will have to come up with other ways to hammer the motorist in an effort to offset the reduction in tax generated by fossil fuel sales.
Between now and when the discount is with drawn we will travel into the zone 300 times up until the exemption ends, this will save us £4,500
my 15 year old Volvo has the windscreen parking ticket clip so nothing new!
Small things, small minds
Polestar has the clip in the windscreen and more importantly a curry hook in the glove box to hang your takeaway carrier bag on
Even my 2004 discovery 3 has the clip in the windscreen ha ha.
My 2013 Škoda Fabia had the clip in the windscreen.
The Polestar is effectively a Volvo C40. Volvo’s have had the ticket clip since the 1980’s and the hook in the glovebox comes from the Volvo XC40.
Well, im a bit shocked because with the exception of your car, that's the first EV I've seen that doesn't look like it's been battered with the ugly stick. What a nice couple as well. I hope they enjoy the car. Diesel and petrol for me, though.
15:00… so they pre-register the vehicles [in effect sell the new cars to themselves and sit them on the forecourt as 2nd hand cars] so to meet the government set target for all new EV vehicles being sold.
Skoda stole Rolls Royce idea with the Umbrella in door trick lol
It's a good idea. Not a bad thing at all.
Except Rolls Royce isn't a plastic cubby hole with room to rattle, But yep.

Hi Lee, I’d just like to mention that I get an exemption from the London Congestion Charge as a Blue Badge holder as I have treatment at The Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square (alongside Great Ormond Street) every three months. My son or daughter drives our Honda HR-V. Great video, Bob M. South Wales
It’s adorable he thinks his issues will go away with another brand. Good luck!
I’ve been saying what yon man just said for some time. In Warrington lanes have been swiped, traffic signals meddled with, roads unnecessarily blocked, roads dug up. It’s manufactured congestion. No congestion charging yet but they’ve got it all set up for a rainy day.
Lee you need a labottomy your mental 😢
"They're a good car." Says the guy that has had multiple things replaced on a virtually new car.
I've had 3 new cars in my lifetime, all 3 delivered to my front door by car carrier, no photos, no rubbish. Now that is what I call customer service!
Skodas are great - but it's a real shame that they discontinued the Yeti. Now they look like all the other SUVs
I've not seen a Skoda yet that looks like my XC90.
When the EV salesman says “398” mile range, does that consider the recommended charge range of 20-80%? If not considered, then that would imply roughly 60% of the 398 or 240 mile range, right?
❤WLTP says 398 miles. Real range about 280 miles in Spring / Summertime.
New it wasn't Lee buying another EV. I think the thumbnail gave it away😉

When that car is sold into the second hand market it'll be a good buy.

They bought a very nice car but should have been petrol or diesel not electric.
I believe Rolls Royce came up with the umbrella in the door trick way back in time
Yes but a Roller is £100K Min More in price
Very handy to have an umbrella recessed within the driver's door, you'll need that as you fumble around at a remote uncovered charging station when its raining , checking whether you are receiving power -or not !.
Can't use a phone when driving but you can use a tablet..? Utter madness.
Voice commands
@@Lensman3333 do voice commands change the heating/ air-conditioning? What about when the system says " I'm sorry I didn't hear that" and have to go manual?
Big dials and buttons like in the nineteens. Those work, and keep working for very very long time in most brands. After few years with a screen, i actually NEVER ever use it, it is dead weight that also uses energy. Which the engine needs to generate. "but sat nav etc". Any proper phone can do that better.
@@rachelshonahague5718 yes voice commands do change heating/air-conditioning
A Tiger 2 tank would be my preferred vehicle these days, same size, weight, running costs and range of an EV only without the parking issues, where would I park it? Anywhere I like.
He gets a Trabant 12 volt peddle car . They removed the back seat and extended the seat slides back another 300mm so the MacMaster can get his legs in.
The guy said it had a range of 350 miles. Is that it's real range though, we know it isn't and you didn't call him out!
Well I thought you were talking total bllocks from the very beginning. I thought you were going to get an ice porche.
Other than that I thought you had lost the plot.
Yeah, my 20 year old Saab has the ticket holder😂 not exactly a new feature.
I wish them luck, but I would not buy an electric car personally.
Something we do agree on. EVs for driving around town and charging at home. That’s exactly what I do. Until thing drastically improve with better batteries, faster charging, and an improved infrastructure, I’ll just do as I’m doing. It works out perfectly for me.
The avergae uk motorist drives 19 miles per day
So if your a average motorist and can charge a EV up at home
Then are absolutely ideal and make perfect sense
@@boyasakathat’s exactly where I am. Charging at home hasn’t added much of a strain to my electric bill, but if I really want to go on the cheap, I can charge for free at the dealership I purchased it from, and it’s no further from my home than a gas station.

Skoda translate to "too bad" in Czech...and some people say there is no truth in advertising! Shame on them!
Nice of them to put the true range on the back 85
I worked in Wimbledon in the early 1980s and can confirm that the then GLC created the London congestion problem by 'Traffic Management' - closing all the shortcut routes, messing with the computerized traffic light system timings etc, etc. I know because I was then directly involved in national traffic management. After the old GLC was abolished, Ken Livingston's escaping refuges then took their daft ideas to Exeter, Taunton and Bristol - and created exactly the same problems there!
Its sooo handy having a clip to hold a parking ticket. Ooooo-and that nice umbrella to keep me dry when charging. Oh brother--give me strength. Is that the best selling points??

Only effective if you actually pay it.
From 2025, EV's from 2017 to 2025 will pay £190 VED. Cars over £40k will be liable to the expensive car levy like ICE cars, for five years. New EV's will pay £10 VED year 1, then £190 thereafter. Most EV's are over £40k... The expensive car levy is £410... so for FIVE years, you will pay £600 to drive your EV...
