Don't remind me these pathetic games. I live in Delhi and entered college in 2009. Our sports teacher didn't came to college for 2 years because he was busy in commonwealth duties because of which we didn't had a football team. I was one of the best player in college but I never got opportunity to play for my college. And that's not it, I used to live in Sadiq Nagar, which is a govt Colony in south Delhi (2.5 kms from nehru stadium which was the opening and closing venue and 200 mtrs from sirifort sports complex which was used for badminton events). The government used our playground as parking and plastered cement all over it. The same playground that gave India 2 international cricketers (pawan negi and amit bhandari and more than 10 ranji and santosh trophy players). The cement ruined our ground forever and they removed the plaster in 2013, by then the ground became intfertile.
We are Indian youth, let's pledge not to vote for a party who embarassed India so many times. Let's vote for a better India. At the same time it is also important to keep this government in check.

At least now, we have much confidence to organise sports events or now our players are getting proper training and bagging medals. I was a proud volunteer is the 2010 delhi games and I was rigorously following every update back then. I was deployed in the main athletics stadium that hosted the opening/closing ceremonies too(Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium). Ideally in any multi national sporting event volunteers are considered the backbones and are selflessly contributing to the event and it shows the cultural ethos of any country but because of all the negativity, we were all treated like S#!T by the spectators as if we had created all the scams. I still remember when Suresh Kalmadi came to give a speech and whole stadium was booing him. So embarrassing! :( But as a silver lining, there were a few proud moments too. Esp during opening/closing ceremonies and the athletics finals when the stadium was jam packed and India had won Gold. The whole 60,000 spectators cheering for India and singing national anthem during the medal ceremony gave me gooseflesh ! Thanks for posting this, it made me nostalgic!

I remember i wanted to watch just any possible game in commonwealth games so i went to buy rugby match tickets hoping the seats will be available, and to my surprise the ticketing counter said all thickets are sold, although when i watched the rugby matches in tv almost all the seats were empty. I was really disappointed with that, and decided to not to peruse anymore.
