A second way to spawn the first boss called Eye of Cthulhu is by getting an item called Suspicious Looking eye. You can find it in chests or you can craft it at a demon altar at the corrupt biome with 6 Lens you can get Lenses by killing the floating eyes

Also the blocks can only be broken with bombs(grenades have no effect)
