The majority of my young gaming life, which mainly included Rainbow Six and Starsiege: Tribes, I spent wishing I was good enough to play in 5150. The name, the prowess, the mystique... I'm sure they were just nerds like I was, but god damn were they cool to me.
I spent more time playing this one game than all other games since, combined... It was truly epic in 1998 when it was released and I was one of the few kids with DSL connection so I played a lot of modded games.
I used to buy video game magazines that came with discs and this game was on it once, i remember skiing down the hills and trying the vehicles and weapons alone because i didn't have internet, fun times
Why do people continue to say they miss this game? IT'S STILL AROUND.... The guy who made this video still plays it, I still play it, as do many others... We just need more people to realize it's still here and that they need to come back!! RETURN TO THE BEST FPS EVER!

TRPG is still active as far as I know, and the host still continues to develop the mod to this day. There are several different servers that host various versions of TRPG. Base is still played often by the LT community. Base, TRPG, and Annihilation mod/servers are the most popular these days. FixiousMaximus has posted a few links to download in some of the other comments.
@@venomousgas3300 Ayy no worries. I ended up joining phantom's servers and even contributing a bunch of 3d weapon models to the mod (which I think are still in use?). Phant and I had a big falling out over some stupid stuff so I don't play there anymore, but it's good to know the other mod communities are still kicking around. If you happen to play TRPG, tell Phant that Draggun said hi. I'm curious what he'd say. :P
Dude, I miss playing this game. I used to play the meltdown hell mostly, but I'd switch to base duel, renegade, paintball and football mod 3-4 hours a day every day. I'll probably re-download the game soon and see what's still up.

Bunnyhop script and rapidfire with the custom headshot message script and stattracker script. I'd give everything I own to be able to go back in time and play just 1 more game on that server.
People still play Tribes 1, and I'm pretty sure there's still a Paintball server up and running. I'd recommend downloading one of the community builds and seeing if anyone in the Discord would want to join. playt1.com
This was easily one of the best games on the PC market in the 90s. Always tons of servers, almost always full. The emotes were funny as hell and the gameplay was smooth. This game also was one of the first to use a form of gravity engine to allow players to "ski" and pick up even more speed. Time well wasted that I don't regret.
playing this game, listening to nirvana, the rain, flying high in the clouds and hoping I land my sky jump route, managing to steal the flag, but only half energy left and everyone on my tail now, get machine gunned to half health, diskjump and pray that it sends me far enough, and it does, but I turn around, and see the enemy have also disk jumped to chase me.

The skiing effect in itself was actually a bug... an accident. It wasn't originally intended, but Dynamix decided to keep it. . . and nobody has been able to replicate it correctly since. By the way, as I've posted above, this game is still played, and you can play it too. It may be almost* 20 years old but it's still kicking.. come join the fun!

Why does Kato keep dumping the blaster? Just to make room for any better weapon that might get dropped? Hard to imagine this game happened over 17 years ago.
This was a common script to get rid of the blaster, which was rarely used due to being inferior to the other weapons. It's easier to switch between disc and chain when fighting without dealing with the blaster getting in the way.
I remember a ping pong server one shot snipe kill with the laser rifle. I remember MA ing guys with the disc launcher that was fun as hell or dropping a mine on them in MID AIR AND THEN SHOOTING A DISC LAUNCHER AT IT OR USING THE CHAIN GUN OR GRENADE LAUNCHER WAS SO SICK. 1998 WAS SICK THIS ON DSL CONNECTION
I remember I was playing tribes when I first heard nirvana teen spirit. I was at a LAN party eating pizza and drinking pepsi with some friends all playing tribes together. I ask my friend "holy shit what song is this". That was the same friend that told me "mid air is kind of like sex, it's only important if you're not getting it".
My old team I was on [THE] made it to #10 on OGL. We were close to challenging S3, 5150 and the sticks but we fell apart after we got #10. I wanted to MA [5150]DaBomb in the face. Bastard was so good at dueling. He was one of like 5 people that could 50-50 me on dueling servers. Mofo always seemed to have that 5% of jetpack left that I didn't have. We'd be 8 discs deep each trying to MA each other because we knew how to dodge ground shots. Slowly running out of rocket fuel from dodging out of MA shots and.. He'd have that tiny bit left. He was the best dueler imo. It's like.. engrained in my mind. [THE]Trojan_Man checking in.. yeah, I was like 13 and trying to be edgy...
Whoever this perspective is... Has no real business fighting 5150 tbh. So many easy missed disc shots. He messes up his snipes by jumping off shit. Gets in the "explosion hole" in front of the Raindance base too often and when he's obviously gunna get nuked...

Loved this game, was in a clan called OTS, Only The Strong and we kicked ass. Man how things have changed in the gaming world since those days.
