    Hello Ruairi I've been banging away on my own for years now I have had to go and get myself a new one as the last was just worn out. I lived in Scotland from a good 7 years with plenty of people to play along with. Thanks for the videos.

    Hi, I’m playing percussions in Japan.
    Why didn’t I know the existence of this superb drum until today.
    I think it goes much better with acoustic music than cajons .
    Your videos are great !

    Just watched this whilst working 😊
    Very nice and informal, lovely and lively approach ✊
    And yes, one of the reasons people tend to look down on the bodhrán is the idea that you don't have to learn the tunes like the "proper" musicians...
    Though tunes that you don't know usually follow a structure that an experienced and amazing player like Ruairi can easily work with, the tunes that you know are so much more fun and easier to play with and confidence boosting...
    ❤from Scotland

    Great great stuff:) could you recommend sources for handmade bodhrans? I couldn't make out the name of the grey drum maker you mentioned in this vid. online I'm not sure if some sites are just people saying it's handmade... but really mass produced:) thanks

    I really like your lessons so far. I’ve only done Lessons 1 and 2. You give instructions very clearly. Could you please give me the name of the metronome app that you recommend? When I tried to download Metro Timer, it cost money.

    Hi, just enjoyed your live session. Quick question, my grandad is from County Cavan. Is there any Bodhran makers or famous player from there? Love from Scotland and Merry Christmas x

      I'm sure there are lots! James 'Sonny" Davey made drums in Sligo, not to far .. probably just over an hour by car

    What mic do you find best for live playing?

    • @bodhran
      @bodhran  7 месяцев назад

      To be honest, I don't have a preference, I usually leave it to the sound team to sort out. If I’m not moving around too much I like a fixed mic so I can lean in and out a bit depending on the song/tune/piece. Rode NT2a is my regular studio mic at home.
