Saludos desde México Puebla me ayudó mucho (no conocía ese modal verb) sólo conocía shoul por una canción de The Clash (SHOULD STAY OR SOULD I GO)
Thanks, a question ? Which one is more preferred? Ought to or Should?
I think "should" is used more often. If you are in doubt, go with "should."
@@Learnamericanenglishonline Thanks teacher 🙏👍
Thanks, could you make an video about the different among ought to, should, have to and must.
Okay, I think I'm going to spend more time on modals and modal phrases in the weeks ahead.

Hi from Russia! Thank you so much for this video!
Professor, I have a question. Is it correct to make short answers with ought to, for instance "Yes, you ought to" or "No, you oughtn't to"? Thank you in advance!
Great teacher
Glad you think so! I just try to replicate some of the things that I do with my regular classroom students. Right now we're studying modal phrasal verbs.
🚨🎯 Quick question.🎯🚨
Fyodor Pavlovitch, for instance, began with next to nothing; his estate was of the smallest; he ran to dine at other men's tables, and fastened on them as a toady, yet at his death it appeared that he had a hundred thousand roubles in hard cash.
It is an excrept from brothers of karmazov. In the sentence says 'his estate is of smallest', means he belongs to club who has small estates. ?
If Time is of essence and Time is esssential are the same?
There is only handful of explanations on forums. And none of them make any sense.
Would you mind doing a lesson on that??
An estate is property but it might also have something to with status in the community. When time is of the essence, time is limited and one must act quickly, otherwise the opportunity will be lost. Yes, I can think about doing a video series on this sort of thing. Thanks for the idea!
@@LearnamericanenglishonlineThanks for reaching out with this question. 👍

This one is very formal, isn't it?
