I really love watching you two! Your flosstubes are so fun. I laugh out loud at the endings. By now Penny's had her surgery. I hope it went smoothly. I had friend get her shoulder replaced and her only regret was not getting it done sooner.

Enjoy your videos ladies. Good luck with your surgery Penny. I know physical therapy can be tough, but don't give up. Good luck to you also, Angie. I've had both knees and one hip replaced. I've also had major back surgery. Cross stitching helped me get thru it all.
So good to know you were able to cross stitch while recovering! I’m actually looking forward to the pt although it will be hard to do,but I want to get strength back. Then I’ll be ready for the knees. Happy Stitching! - Penny

I am now 6 weeks out and doing really well. Building up my muscles in physically therapy. That stretching is the only time I hurt. Yikes! Happy Stitching! -Penny
Hi Angie & Penny. I'm 74 and started doing cross stitch last August, so I'm still in learning mode. Just figuring out RUclips has been challenging. Thank you for the informative video. The thread conditioner information was very helpful.

I had shingles in November and that was no fun at all, the shot has to be better. Nice you have your sister coming to help you after your surgery.
We had a great time on Saturday when we went to the Attic, we saw two different ladies including Amy from our Stitching group. Wonderful to see our new friends there. We found a chart or two, beautiful thread, surprise, surprise!! Saw Jean and Caroline, always great to see them as well. Lucky to have The Attic as our LNS.

I’m currently working on Fancy feathers - I’m making a table runner instead of a wall hanging! I love it! I’m just using all of my scraps to make a bright and fun table runner! Penny, my husband had a shoulder replacement and we were worried about it being terrible and worse than his hip replacement. For him it was so much easier. We’ve also heard that it’s much easier than rotator cuff repair surgery!

Hello ladies. At our first stitch-up I showed you a Dr. Who cross stitch. Angie, you might remember that you showed it to Mike. Anyway, I put it in the county fair and I got third place. I really should have put the other one in because this one has a glaring error but I'm happy. Also at the next meeting I want to show you the wax I have. I had right shoulder replacement in November and I am right handed. Four days later I ,was doing cross stitch. Good luck with your surgery.
Always good news. I’m also ready to stitch although it’s a slow process. 6 days out today. Surgery was healing quickly. So very blessed to have good care! Penny

I just use plain water in a tiny jar with a sponge to condition my threads, works great.
Beverly, I have heard that water will work. Our friends mother did that and her stitches lied flat. So many tips and tricks to learn about cross stitch. Happy Stitching! -Penny

Hello ladies. Sorry to harp on about using waters, but I have a question. Say you frame your pieces without any sort of glass covering. Say you used a waxer on all your threads. Wouldn’t that wax become a dust attractant over many years on a wall. Over time, wouldn’t that dust and dirt get melted into the wax. Yes I know, you said you only did one light pass over the thread and you didn’t leave globs of wax. But wouldn’t any wax at all still be an attractant? If I stitched a sampler that I wanted to leave as an heirloom and couldn’t afford museum or conservation glass, or any glass whatsoever, would those waxes help disintegrate the linen or cotton aida and threads eventually? The dust and dirt might be acidic and just burn holes into the sampler. Yes I’m thinking the worst, but I just wondered how must rotting might happen over time.

Thanks for your questions. I am certainly not an expert on waxing threads. I prefer to use natural bees wax on my stitching. I found this article online that may answer your questions and then you can make your decision as to use bees wax or not.

Fay, you are so kind. I am healing very nicely. Pain is pretty much gone from the surgery although when I begin physical therapy I’m sure that will cause some pain. Nothing I can’t handle. I have a high tolerance for pain, thank goodness. Happy Stitching! Looking forward to our May stitch meet up. - Penny
