When I had the time to understand the lyrics of Ilaw, it made my heart heavy. I realized it must’ve been hard for SB19 to express their true self because of the pressures brought by fame. “Nasa'n na nga ba ang sarili kong pagkatao?” “Ilaw nga ang dahilan kung ako ngayo'y nasa'n man ngunit kailangan kong magpahinga patayin ang ilaw pansamantala” “Kabayaran ba nito'y sarili ko'y maglalaho” These lines, the chorus, and the emotional bridge. It just makes you want to cry. I hope time will come when SB19 (or Pablo as he’s mainly the brain of this song) will find comfort and peace standing in front of the spotlight and regarless of anything, A’tin will accept the things that make SB19 human.

Ramdam na ramdam mo ung bawat lyrics grabe!.” And up until now, iniiyakan ko pa rin ang song na yan. Naging fan ako because of Gento pero Ilaw opened my heart to be an A’tin.
My take: It was about the time when they were performing as SBT talents without much control about their artistic inclinations and paths. Yung kulang sa financial support ng company plus nagpeperform kung saan saan like Chinese New Year singing chinese songs. Times na sabi ni Jah na linggo linggo sila nag- iiyakan sa conference room.
Agree.. because that was a big struggle in their journey. While I really believe that that part of their journey is the inspiration for their song… still, my A’tin heart translates this song as: how some people did not even want to listen to their music, find out who and what they and their music were all about. People were blinded by the “usual/ expected and accepted sound”. All the pre-judgement thrown at them and being labeled and boxed as wannabes must have felt like being in prison. Their music started out as whispers bec they were just starting.. then became shouts when they started getting awards.. but a lot of people still did not care.
