    How do you adapt this new 72v lithium battery. Can you do a video on how to install and how to charge and what charging port or charger to use!

    • @overvolted
      @overvolted  5 месяцев назад +1

      The new battery had an Anderson style connector. I added an XT90 to the leads coming from the bike and then made a little adapter to go to xt90 from the battery. Didn't want to change the battery connector since I'm going to be upgrading the motor and controller soon. I can do a short or something with an overview of how it's connected. Definitely once the parts come in since it'll be opened up already. For charging i just tapped into the stock charge port and use a lithium ion charger with the same connecting type.

    Lead acid batteries typically require a constant voltage charging profile, where the voltage is held constant and the current decreases as the battery charges. On the other hand, lithium batteries require a constant current-constant voltage (CC-CV) charging profile, where the current is held constant until the battery reaches a certain voltage level, after which the voltage is held constant.
    Using a lithium charger to charge a lead acid battery can result in overcharging, which can lead to excessive gassing, heat generation, and potential damage to the battery. It can also be dangerous as overcharging a lead acid battery can cause it to release hydrogen gas, which is explosive.

    Great video, Thank you for doing the leg work for us. One point of criticism though. Did you use tin snips to cut the battery box? Please get some of the automotive trim stuff to cover that "tetanus shot waiting to happen". I look forward to the rest of the upgrades.
    P.S. when you go LiFePO4, remember that the discharge current is dictated by the BMS. If you go custom, you might be able to make a couple smaller AH batteries with each having their own BMS and parallel them to double the discharge current handling.

    Were you running on speed setting 3? I keep it on 2 and avg between 30-35mph on my 40 mile round trip and have 72 volts left on my 50ah battery. I also have purchased the bluetooth adapter for the yuyangking controller and have adjusted the settings a bit. I did like seeing you getting up to 40mph on gps. I usually only get those speeds with the first 10% of my battery. I have the 2023 Venom ex20. I might try next year to upgrade my battery (50A max) to 100-120A and my controller as well so it can actually deliver that. I will see if the 2000w QSMotor can take it... I like the Venom vids you have and hope to see more. Its a great little bike and is super fun to ride and there are tons of mods i see people doing with these...

When I take it apart there is gray sludge coming from the front forks where the spacers rub... I still have the internal center spacer between the bearings So I know the bearings aren't Coming closer together... Do you guys just ride with washers?

      Hello! I've updated the links in this video. They look similar but I changed sellers on the first link to the correct one. That one should be more reliable. Also, the battery I got from AliExpress seems to still be there (exact one I'm using) but the Amazon links will get you something faster. I'd recommend the first one since it's LiFePo4.

      @@overvolted I can't blame you. I ended up removing the box bolts (after removing plastics on both sides) to lower the box, set in the lithium, and then connect everything back up. I wanted to keep the structural integrity of the battery box because in the winter time I might switch back to SLA batteries to leave it outside without worrying about destroying the lithium battery in 30 degree weather. I figure Spring/Fall = Lithium, Summer/Winter = SLA. I live in Las Vegas so we get extreme heat in summer and then extreme cold in winter nights. I modified the wires from the Evader to an Anderson plug because that's what the lithium takes, and have an adapter that goes from Anderson to O rings for the SLA batteries. The lithium gets me 40ah while the SLA 20ah, but it is what it is lol. Thank you for your video, it was really helpful and inspired me to make the switch to Lithium.

    • @overvolted
      @overvolted  6 месяцев назад +1

      Cool! I added some links in the description. To some battery options..as long as you make sure the battery you buy will fit before buying then it's pretty easy. Plug and play really with the only special tools needed is a soldering iron to put a new plug on the bike side to match your battery.

    • @CaseyRothman-tn7xk
      @CaseyRothman-tn7xk 6 месяцев назад

      Wait, I’m confused. There not clip ins I have use a soldering iron? Did you cut out part of the bike to make the battery fit too? Just looking for clarification. Thanks.

    • @overvolted
      @overvolted  6 месяцев назад +1

      So stock the bike has a positive and negative lead that directly get mounted to the positive and negative of the battery array with a bolt that attached it to the battery terminals. However, when you buy a new battery it'll come with either xt90 connectors or Anderson plugs. Generally the battery also comes with the mating side so you can hook the battery up to something. So since the stock screw in terminal mount connectors won't directly hook up to an xt90 (for example) then you can cut the ends off the wires coming from the bike and attach the female side of whatever plug came with your battery. I guess you wouldn't have to solder it but it makes for a nice connection. You could use some larger butt connectors and other connection blocks if you want. If you don't want to cut the stock wires I'm sure you could find a terminal connecting block and use that. You would just want a connection that can carry the current of the battery so whatever works.
