- Last September Zack Boughton and photographer Sam Averett road tripped to Colorado to chase rutting bulls with the muzzleloaders. Watch as they battle thick brush and warm temps as they look to tag a mature bull.

Tough hunt! Those 5x5s from early in the trip start to look pretty sweet by the end.
Hell I'd have shot them day one haha
No judgement though
Ya elk have a way of making you feel dumb haha
What state were you hunting?
Great hunt to share with the rest of us! You both gave a valiant effort and that's all you can do. Enjoy the process and never settle. The reward is that much greater when it works out.
Amen to that!
Congratulations guys! Awesome bucks! Looks like ya'll had fun. I'm a little sad the icon tour is over! It's been fun watching
Great Edit/Videography!
Awesome video!
Damn... I had my subwoofer turned up and 0:00 just about woke the dead! 💀😅
Haha that's amazing
Colorado. Lots of elk. LOTS of people.
You guys hunted hard as hell awesome video
Thanks! That's all you can do, hunt hard and have fun.
What a coincidence, almost the exact hunt I'm hoping to do later this year...
Good effort gents.
I just got a muzzleloader this year and will be doing my 1st hunt with it in Colorado. Trying to decide whether to do deer or elk. I only have a couple points for each so I'm limited on unit choices. We'll see
Good luck if you decide to go!
So dope, such a great video! Can I ask what lens he was running on the Sony camera he had attached to his pack?
looked like a Sony GM 35mm f1.4
@@MillerTime-406 thanks!
Nothin like an adrenaline rush right after a good nap! Y’all worked hard on that hunt great video!!
Ya that'll jack with your body for sure! haha
Way to grind a tough hunt out! Good work capturing your hunt. If you've never been kicked in the nuts elk hunting....well, you've never really been hunting.
Oh they'll kick you in the nuts 99% of the time!
Nice flim guys very well done, looks like it was a great hunt, can't win em all.
Thanks Chris! Yes the elk win more than we like to admit haha.
Great work! What’s the “bring it back to me” song?
Splize & Notize
Whiskey Myers 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great film guys!
Where can I find Sam’s shirt? About the 9:35 mark
Thanks
I believe that is a shirt from OnX featuring a Casey Underwood design.
@@stoneglacier9636 Perfect, thanks!
I've not seen the camera capture clip Sam uses on his backpack. Anyone know who makes the clip?
@Matt Miller in a comment above might know…👍🏻
Looks like a Cotton Carrier Strapshot.
@@Jacobbiggers That was MY Guess…
@@Jacobbiggers That's it, thanks.
What state is this?
Does anyone know what gloves hes wearing @20:09?
Prototype gloves
More elk meat for me-- 😆
What kind of muzzleloader does Zack use?
That's a CVA Paramount Pro
I shot a 5x5 at 17 yards with a 58 cal T/C Big Boar when I was your age. Frontal shot, center of chest, 550 gr lead bullet, came out between his anus and ball sack, you could put your fist through it 😂
That’s why you don’t horn hunt just take what comes first it’s all about the experience and the adventure don’t be picky my gramps always said, you can’t eat the antlers anyways.
I agree, I used to hunt there as a resident in 1989-1997. Used to see lots of elk and hear lots of bugling bow hunting. I moved away in 1997 and went back in 2014 for a last week of archery season. Never saw any elk or heard any bugling, but I wasn't in a wilderness area. Saw a bull moose and saw 2 cows at daylight driving out. Lots of pressure on public land elk there. In 1997, I woke up from a nap after a small rain came through, stood up and peeked over a ledge and cow elk were feeding below me like I was in a tree stand. I stepped back, drew my bow, stepped forward and let go at 15 yards. Didn't know what hit her. Filled the freezer. Great hunt to watch, reminded me when I was your age 👍
Thats not what I hear about the spot lighting horn hunting warm springs tribe.
@@BRTreedogs everybody has their opinions and also everybody breaks the law off the reservation. It happens anywhere you go. Sorry you feel this way about our tribe. Have a good day.
