    Avatar: The Last Airbender Series Description:
    Avatar: The Last Airbender (commonly abbreviated as ATLA), also known as Avatar: The Legend of Aang in some regions, or simply Avatar or The Last Airbender, is an American animated fantasy action television series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko and produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio.
    Avatar is set in an Asiatic-inspired world in which some people can telekinetically manipulate one of the four elements-water, earth, fire or air-through practices known as "bending", inspired by Chinese martial arts. The only individual who can bend all four elements, the "Avatar", is responsible for maintaining harmony among the world's four nations, and serves as the link between the physical world and the spirit world. The series is centered around the journey of twelve-year-old Aang, the current Avatar and last survivor of his nation, the Air Nomads, along with his friends Katara, Sokka, and Toph, as they strive to end the Fire Nation's war against the other nations and defeat Fire Lord Ozai before he conquers the world. It also follows the story of Zuko-the exiled prince of the Fire Nation, seeking to restore his lost honor by capturing Aang, accompanied by his uncle Iroh-and later, his sister Azula. Avatar is presented in a style that combines anime with American cartoons and relies on the imagery of primarily Chinese culture, with some other East Asian, Southeast Asian, South Asian, New World, Siberian, and Arctic influences.
    Avatar: The Last Airbender was a ratings success and received acclaim from critics for its characters, cultural references, art direction, voice acting, soundtrack, humor, and themes. These include concepts rarely touched on in youth entertainment, including war, genocide, imperialism, totalitarianism, indoctrination and free choice. It won five Annie Awards, a Genesis Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, a Kids' Choice Award, and a Peabody Award. The show is regarded by many critics as one of the greatest animated television series of all time.
    Avatar aired on Nickelodeon for three seasons, from February 2005 to July 2008. The extended Avatar franchise includes an ongoing comics series, a prequel novel series, an animated sequel series, and a live-action film, as well as an upcoming live-action remake series produced for Netflix. The complete series was released on Blu-ray in June 2018 in honor of the tenth anniversary of its finale and was made available to stream on Netflix in the United States and Canada in May 2020, on Paramount+ in June 2020, and on Amazon Prime Video in January 2021.

    A lot of people don't seem to get why Toph was proud of Aang when he technically didn't Earthbend, but he was doing the same thing Zuko was doing, taking wisdom from the other elements to add it to his fighting style and his wisdom.
    As an Airbender, Aang was working with his natural opposite with Earthbending, and while he couldn't bend a rock yet to solve that problem he _still_ succeeded in facing it head on instead of evasively in his martial arts. As a Firebender Zuko was working with his natural opposite with water based martial arts and philosophies, and while he got the movement down he ultimately failed at that aspect of change, adaption and love that would've held him together through his traumas.

    oh you can mess tea up pretty easily, especially loose leaf tea which is what they use. If you dont take the leaves out after a certain point (usually between 3-8 minutes depending on the tea, herbal teas can be steeped up to 15 minutes because they dont get bitter as easily) it starts to grow bitter, and the same can happen with too hot water. Certain teas should only be steeped in simmering water, others need boiling water.
    I assume Zuko tried to make jasmine for Iroh, its his favorite after all, and whats funny is jasmine generally has a light green to pale gold color, its a pretty light tea.
    *Zuko's tea was dark brown, almost black*
    meaning he definitely had that shit steeping for way too long at too high water temperature. I can only imagine how excruciatingly bitter it was XD

    • @typo1345
      @typo1345 3 месяца назад +1

      I've admittedly considered trying to oversteep some jasmine pearls (most likely the kind of jasmine Iroh has, its easiest to transport) with boiling water (jasmine should be steeped with medium simmering water), but I don't have the guts to do it. I always chicken out and take the leaves out within their ideal steep time lol

    • @silverswordsmith5424
      @silverswordsmith5424 3 месяца назад +1

      Hey now, some of us like our tea nice and strong. I've accidentally left a mug of tea steeping for hours and it was excellent. Mind, it was Earl Grey, but still, maximum strength is how I like my tea.

    • @typo1345
      @typo1345 3 месяца назад

      @@silverswordsmith5424 you definitely maxed out the leaves (you can actually keep re-steeping leaves until they run out of flavor if you practice the steep time, you dont just have to use them once) I dunno if you had a lot of water the leaves could release their flavor into, or how hot the water was, or if the bergamot scent was strong enough to overpower the bitterness. And who knows, maybe you just like or have a higher tolerance for bitterness, or maybe you added enough sugar to balance it out. There's a myriad reasons why it may not've tasted too much for you.
      The range of 3-8 minutes is based on general agreement, not individual. Earl grey for example, is a black tea, which is generally steeped for about 5 minutes with boiling or high simmering water (this is per 12 oz of water. If youre doing bag tea, you dont have to worry about tea quantity. If loose tea, then its 12 oz water per 3 grams tea, or you can just round up to one teaspoon of tea). I also don't know if your earl grey was bag or loose, that also plays a bit of a factor

    Only the avatar can master all four elements and bring balance to the world.
    However, each nation has different movements for their bending, because each is based on a different martial art (and Toph’s earthbending has its own special inspiration because of her blindness)
    What Iroh means is that he studied the movements of waterbenders to develop his firebending move. As the series goes on, you’ll see the members of Team Avatar incorporate each other’s bending styles into their own.
    Bending is first and foremost a genetic ability. Not everyone is born with it. Work ethic is the difference between being a master and being a loser.

    Zuko alone is one of the most nuanced episodes of any show I’ve watched, and it’s a fucking “kids show.” Zuko’s character is just… incredible. Think back to the episode “The Storm” when we learned how Zuko got his scar: speaking out in a war meeting against the plan to use brand new soldiers as cannon fodder on the front lines. And then in this episode the shitty Earth kingdom soldiers are talking about how the Fire Nation dresses up Earth Kingdom soldiers to put on the front lines, as fodder. So either Zuko changed their minds that day to use soldiers from the opposing side, or they just do both since they’re all just bodies to them. Either way, Zuko knows people are getting slaughtered for absolutely no reason, regardless of their nationality, and this episode just hammers that point in for him (no pun intended).

  • @billbill6094
    @billbill6094 3 месяца назад +3

    The show was always showing Zuko's story alongside Aang's, he's just as vital. I'm not sure if you caught it but in the first episode here, Zuko Alone, it's implied that Ursula was made to kill Azulon so that she could save Zuko's life, but also because his father wanted to take the throne from Uncle Iroh. Iroh being older and an actual esteemed warrior who nearly conquered Ba Sing Se was the natural pick for Firelord.
    So up to this point we know that even before the duel and banishment, Zuko was "raised" for years by the Firelord who was supposed to kill him and his evil sister who took all their father's pride, without the presence of his disappeared mother. It only makes sense that he turned out the way he did, all that happened by the time he was 13.

Mai and Ty lee were born in the fire nation and come from noble high ranking families ( especially Mai) but neither are benders just like Katara has bending but sokka does not. Each element has it's opposite, Water is fire's, Earth is air's when an avatar is learning the element that is it's natives opposite they will have a harder time mastering it, it can also be harder to learn an element if it conflicts with guilt or aspects of your personality. Aang also struggles with earth bending because he has a carefree spirit- earthbendong you need to be more grounded. He will also struggle with fire bending because of guilt and fear.

    Just stopping by to point out the joke about the dagger: Iroh sends it to him from his campaign, and they are all impressed with the workmanship of the blade and the "mysterious" writing etched in it, but literally it's just "made in the Earth Nation" like if you bought a katana and it was labeled "made in Japan." That's the kind of generic label you get on mass produced souvenirs, and it's the kind of thing that was super common for soldiers to buy during the world wars when they were stationed overseas. It still happens in other wars, and they get passed down as heirlooms until someone gets it appraised. 😅

    Not everyone is a bender in this universe. All the air nomads were benders (probably bc they were all so spiritual) but only some people are fire, water and earth benders. Like how Katara was the only water bender in the south pole.

    • @BillyMays731
      @BillyMays731 3 месяца назад +1

      All the air nomads were benders because to be an air nomad you had to be a bender. If I’m right they had a sort of “breeding season” and the children who could bend would be raised by the monks. (I know I’m a nerd lmao, just wanted to share information)
