    I love Chris Stapleton, I love the fact live he sounds I think even better. That's hard to find in todays music industry unfortunately. He definitely has a god given voice. To me he isn't country, more of a mix with soul and blues tones. My mother is a big blues fan and I had her listen to this song and she just can't get past his country roots and doesn't get it. I don't understand because he is amazing regardless if you like country or not.

    The first time I saw Chris sing was in 2006 at a bluegrass festival at Graves Mountain lodge in central Virginia with a band called the Steeldrivers. He left the band shortly after that to pursue his solo career...the rest is history. Glad I had the opportunity to see him perform in another genre before he became the mega star he is today. At the concert, the band played 30 minute sets and signed autographs between sets. I got to meet him and He is exactly who he is onstage. Look up the steel drivers “blue side of the mountain”,”if it hadn’t been for love” or my favorite “midnight train to Memphis” if you want a real glimpse of the Kentucky artist in his true element. You are welcome.

    The first song he released that I remember was 'what are you listening to?'
    His wife morgane encouraged him to step out front and be an artist instead of writing for everyone else. She is the woman singing with him and Justin on the first video and is an amazing singer in her own right. They do a version of you are my Sunshine where she takes lead and a version of Amanda where her harmonies are strong.

    Chris is from Kentucky btw. Breakout song was Tennessee whiskey. He was writing hits for country singers for 15 years and his wife told him to stop making other people famous and he should do it for himself. He had extreme stage fright which is why he hadn't done this before. Chris is God given talent you can't hid it. He's amazing. My husband says Joe cocker too he sounds like him. You guys need to check out Chris’s song “Daddy Don’t Pray Anymore.” I discovered this song the week my daddy passed away. We played it at his funeral. When I looked up the history, Chris’s wife Morgan was getting ready for some event they need to go to and he was rushing her. She said go sit down and write a song. He sat down and wrote the song in like 15 minutes. You guys really need to check it out! It’s an emotional song that you need to be prepared for, but this is something this talented man pulled out of his body in 15 minutes. This song is one that all of us can relate to at some point in our life.

    His big break was the performance y’all did with him and Timbelake at the CMA’s. He had sold 70,000 albums the day before that. After the performance and his 3 CMA victories he sold 600,000 albums the next 48 hours. He’s been off to the moon ever since. Did it the old school way, through performance not social media. Keep up the good work fellas.

    • @shackdiesel225
      @shackdiesel225 5 лет назад +1

      EMN emn Not many people are in the music industry. I realize he was known by some before that. I was a fan of the Steeldrivers and saw him for $12 in a venue that held 300 people before the CMA’s . After the CMA’s I saw him play to a sold out Turner field after the Braves game which no one showed up to until the 7th inning because everyone was there to see him. So, yes people knew of him but the CMA’s were absolutely his big break. Like I said he sold 70,000 albums before it and then sold 600,000 only 48 hours later. Doesn’t take a genius to examine that and determine it was a huge break for him.

    • @shackdiesel225
      @shackdiesel225 5 лет назад

      @EMN emn my comment was about the majority of the general public being unaware of him not people that grew up with him lol. I grew up with Morgane not that its relevant to my original comment and I can assure you that if you ask them they will tell you themselves that his career absolutely blasted off into anther stratosphere the very hour after that CMA performance. I apologize for triggering you that was not my intent.

    • @Greg1096
      @Greg1096 5 лет назад

      Im pretty sure the year he performed with Timberlake is the year he won like 3 awards at the CMA's including Best male vocalist. The JT thing is not what made him blow up, since the album had gone platinum before then, it was a great performance with JT though , just not the career maker you are making it out to be. He had also been nominated for multiple Grammy awards with the steeldrivers and had won a Grammy for best bluegrass album.

    I love the look you two exchanged as soon as Chris saaang one note! He's unbelievably talented. :)

    • @shawnuel
      @shawnuel 3 года назад

      Chris merged two songs for his version of Tennessee Whiskey. The Country song, Tennessee Whiskey was written by Dean Dillon and Chris takes those lyrics and marries them with the basic musical structure of blues song, "I'd Rather Go Blind", performed by Etta James.

    That old guitar is what many artists see as quality. The move to Nashville and the search mis c stores for them! And he is 1 guy on a stage in this video. His style hasn't changed and either has his attitude. He's just a great guy who can play and sing like this. Chris has been known in all genres as a writer. I believe I read Chris is from Paintsville, KY(Johnson County, eastern KY coal town- not far from where Loretta Lynn is from) - my husband's family was from Paintsville - it's beautiful; sadly my husband passed away many years ago but I often think he would have loved Chris and the fact he was from there, I don't think I've heard of another big "star" from there.

    He writes all his own music, which is one of the things I love about him. Here are a few songs to really get you going with Chris Stapleton.
    Fire away
    Whiskey and You
    Broken halo
    I was wrong
    What are you listening to
    Daddy dont pry anymore
    Death row
    Blow ft ed Sheeran and bruno Mars
    The devil named music
    Was it 26
    Millionaire
    Either way
    Parachute
    Nobody to blame
    Might as well get stoned
    Hope you enjoy!

      Well not all. Tennessee Whisky isn't written by him, it's a country song from the late 70s or early 80s.

    Chris was also in several bands including a bluegrass band and a rock band. Yall should definitely react to the song he did with Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars.

    Vocal coaches call his scream as distortion. Just a vocal term used for him and Janice Joplin as well. I subbed with you guys today. Love your reactions.

    Listen to Midnight train to Memphis from SNL. He's with another guy Sturgill Simpson. That performance will blow you away. It gives you great guitar play and both of their voices are amazing.

    Marc Broussard is a awesome singer
    Y'all should check him out. And Drake White . I heard someone describe Drake as if Marc Broussard and Chris Stapleton had a baby you would get Drake White

    Chris Stapleton and Angelina Jordan make me cry. His wife talked him because he had really bad stage freight.🙏👍
