    A good tip for working with glass fibre, wether laying it up or cutting and grinding it, is to use talcum powder on your hands, arms or any other exposed skin, it really stops any itchiness. I got this tip a few years ago when doing a load of layup work and it really works, the person who told me said it was the same reason that barbers will put talc on your neck before a haircut, the talc stops the small particles from lodging in your pores.
    Give it a try.
    Great vid as always btw.

      Hi Iain, thanks buddy, there's a lot to building a biike, and most of it is detail, like when you see an advert for an abandoned project, its an engine in a frame, rolling on its wheels, and the advert usually says "all the major work done".. but in reality, its about 10% done...lol

    Lovely work as always. Round about the 2min mark I see the hub of the dremil tool eating away at your fibreglass, I think that might have contributed to the gap. So how are you going to manage rainwater running in that gap?

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Adrian, what gap are you talking about mate? There has to be gap between the seat unit and the tank or they'll rub together and damage the paint as they're rubber mounted...

  • @warrengray610
    @warrengray610 6 лет назад

    Hi Del, pouring that liquid resin to set the tubes in place looked really satisfing, any chance you could make it pivotal to allow rider height adjustable

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  6 лет назад +1

      Not really necessary buddy, pivoting from the rear will change the angle of the seat and also close the gap which is small enough as it is lol !

  • @Butterfly07949

    Checked out this vid as I am on with rectifying the issue I have with the tail unit the previous owner made but hadn't made provision for the fuel tap access.
    So I have the daunting task of accurately marking the exact place to drill a guide hole from the inside then drill with a hole saw and making the subsequent french tube.
    No small task. Not looking forward to this at all!!!

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  2 года назад +1

      Hi Marc, ive had that kind of remit a few times, maybe try a 'cone' or 'step drill' rather then a hole saw.. that way you'll be opening the hole out a little at a time and if you're off target a little you can correct the hole's position with a round file..!!! just a thought.?

    hiya del/penny its mike/jan . quick question for you replaced me front factory brake hoses. for braided. can i use a strip of that hose to replace the short hose at the rear to make it longer. want to move it from where it is you see a little higher up you see other wise am going have to take the side panel off every time i fill the reservoir its a pain in the rear. so can i just cut a length off the old brake hoses to save pennys lol ;-) cheers mike its the 600bandit s 1998................ ;-)

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Mike, I assume you mean can you cut a lump of the factory rubber brake hose you've replaced as a feed supply hose from reservoir to master cylinder on the rear? Is that the question? If so, then yes you can, provided the hose fits comfortably over the hard hoses without stretching too much because it's not armoured hose, so if you stretch it too much it could split, but I would imagine, at a guess, that it's roughly a compatible size, just check to be sure!

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Gary, sorry, didn't have much more time to keep going that day, but it'll be a monster session at the weekend, going to send the whole day on it and make the rear mounts on the structure, so back to welding fabrication... my favorite pastime..! the white drill was a 'Hole saw' or hole cutter... like a serrated tube with a drill bit in the middle, ill be using it for the back end too, so ill show them in more detail maybe... Thanks for your constant support brother, its always good to haar from you.. D&Px

    Anybody know what he means by 'French tubes'?

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Jeff, there is a legendary old school car customising discipline called 'frenching', usually on the lead-sled style kustom cars where they buried the lights and the aerials down inside a tube so that from the side they were invisible... so the term 'frenching' means to fit a tube inside which something can be mounted, hence the term french tubes...in this case, I'm frenching the mount bolts that hold the tail on - if you Google it, you'll see plenty of evidence of it, specially in Google Images!

    • @michaelmatthews8171
      @michaelmatthews8171 6 лет назад +1

      Frenching comes from word French cuffs as del said above
