IWC is better! Also a real Genta watch, unpopular opinion but I love the 3239 best, actually prefer the 2829 Movement due to robustness and service cost also better design even though this new one is closer to Gentas original
Great- and very relevant review. My opinion: I prefer the Iwc Ingenieur. The visual design is just in a league of its own. Mr. Genta is famous for a reason, and it shows - also with this one. Have a great day everyone:)
Fantastic video and I'm so glad you posted this... several months ago, I was looking for a video comparing these two models and there was nothing. Initially, I preferred the Ingenieur. Today, I prefer the Alpine Eagle. It just feels a leg higher in terms of class and luxury, plus the Ingenieur has left a bad taste in everyone's mouth for the underwhelming movement. Cheers!
I have a newer example of the Alpine Eagle 41 blue dial and it does have a twin trigger clasp. Also, Chopard makes a 1.5 size link to get a perfect fit if necessary.
I’d like to see your take of the Ingenieur vs the large Santos. Technically not integrated bracelet, but the Santos has similar movement specs and a unique bracelet that could stack up against the IWC. And for near the same price as the Ingenieur, you can get the Santos in two-tone and get yourself some gold! Let’s see a Richemont vs Richemont!
Money and specs aside, I prefer the look of the IWC but for the money, including the price delta, I'd get this Chopard in the smaller size with a different dial color.
Was considering the Alpine Eagle XL chrono. I like both watches. I wish both had an all satin brushed bracelet option (rather than polished center links) and wish the Chopard bracelet tapered a bit more. Great vid as always Tim.
Oh yeah baby! I was waiting for this comparo. And as much as I am a mega fan of IWC watches, and especially the Ingenieur, the Alpine Eagle beats it, and that by a lot I'd say.
Chopard easily wins, everyone should try one on 💯 Side note: pleasure meeting you at Hyde Park yesterday 😁 hope you sold that gentlemen in the...interesting outfit...that Journe he was eyeballing 🙃
I know the date window on the Alpine Eagle can be polarizing. However, the date window location just works perfectly for someone who wears the watch on their right wrist like myself.
Yes, the blue dial is significantly less, and used examples are cheaper still. But for a green dial watch comparison, it was necessary to match as closely as possible. It's unlikely that somebody who's really driven to own a green dial will opt for blue solely on a price basis. We're talking about a premium, but not the difference between steel and gold, for example. I've got other Alpine Eagle comparisons for different color dials. Best, Tim
@@the1916companywatchreviews Good points. I never bought into the green dial premium for other watches. I prefer blue and white dial watches. I get I don't set the market on colors and others love green.
Alpine Eagle's 01.01c is basically a variant of the 01.01m movement found on the cheaper £6/7k Chopard classic racing lol. Not to mention the "promise" to roll out trigger clasps on more alpine eagles by Chopard president has yet to materalise to date.
I've tried on both of these, along with the Royal Oak and the GP. I can't get the Royal Oak retail, and I have to say the Chopard was streets ahead the others. On the wrist, it's incredible. The Laureato was very underwhelming, and the Ingenieur is nice, but not as nice as the Alpine Eagle. I'm surprised by Tim saying the Alpine Eagle wears large, though. It doesn't it wears much more like a 39mm in my opinion.
Alpine Eagle's only fault is that it's too pretty for some men's taste. I think it would be so much more appealing if it had a rubber strap option like the Overseas.
I like both watches but can't understand that the Alpine Eagle is under 10mm thin. It feels much thicker. I think the Eagle still winns. The finishing and dial is so much better. I would like for IWC to make a Ingenieur SL quartz looking watch. It's so beautiful.
I would pass on both of these and get a pre-owned Vacheron Constantin Overseas Generation 2. The IWC should have been revived with the original 1976 Gerald Genta design and the Alpine Eagle is a me too product in the integrated bracelet watch category.
@@robertposteschild2353 that would be for every luxury time piece than … but if can’t afford the piece … you can’t hate it … juts get yourself a Seiko or a explorer I and be happy with that
As a board certified gastroenterologist, I can attest that the gorgeous dial of the Alpine Eagle looks nothing like an anus. If your own body part looks like this dial, I suggest a medical consultation!
@@the1916companywatchreviews You should re-measure this "14cm" wrist then. But i get it. You want to sell something and want to reach a larger audience in this way.
Other than the price, there is not a single area where the IWC wins. Chopard is a much better brand, has better finishing, better movement, accuracy, etc.
I had the Chopard and sold it after few months. Lost 60 percent of MSRP!! The biggest downfall of the watch is the lack of micro adjustment and the fact that the bracelet is hardly tapered. It looks more like a jewelry bracelet rather than a watch bracelet. The movement was off by 7 seconds a day as well.
Watches are indeed jewelry first.. It's meant to pair with Chopard's Ice Cube collection. That being said, did the friction fit clasp give you any problems?
How would the GP laureato compare to these two??
The chopard is $6000 CAD more than the IWC. I've seen both in person, my preference is the iwc.
That's cuz ur a iwc fanboy
@@잡았다요놈-y9w That's cuz Chopard holds value like a pile of shit

Thanks Tim! Two great pieces that will bring many owners much joy!

Looks wise they're both quite nice, but having worn them the IWC ends up on top for me due to better comfort.
Did not expect that outcome! IWC for the win!
IWC in this comparison only for it's twin trigger clasp. IDK why the Chopard doesn't have it feature.
I have a newer example of the Alpine Eagle 41 blue dial and it does have a twin trigger clasp. Also, Chopard makes a 1.5 size link to get a perfect fit if necessary.
Damn the chopard is nice, not the date window tho

Can you measure the diameter of the dials? Chopard looks smaller

If the IWC had a display back and beautiful movement I'd buy it instantly!
Chopard looks and wears much more chunky than the iwc. Also that awkward date window....
🦅all day, everyday! The Chopard green dial has a premium. You can get used blue and gray dial ones for under $10k.

Fully with Tim on this one. IWC 👍🏻

Two incredible watches
I prefer the IWC, but picky as I am, the dial is ruined with the Ingenieur lettering. So much better to have left it clean
Please do baume et mercier riviera 39mm with black smoky dial
chopard is stunning
I love the Alpine Eagle case design but I've always found the grained on the dial to be excessive. Both are overpriced but I'll go for the IWC.
Tough choice. I really like them both
Alpine Eagle's only fault is that it's too pretty for some men's taste. I think it would be so much more appealing if it had a rubber strap option like the Overseas.
Chopard and it’s not even close
IWC and it’s not even close. The Chopard has a buthole design on the dial.
@ some see buttholes everywhere I suppose. Whatever tickles your fancy
IWC. I can’t stand the look of bracelet on chopard. Chopard looks a bit more refined but still IWC talks to me more
Chopard > IWC. Chopard has a open case back and I like the design and bracelet better.
Thanks Tim 👍
Great video really helped me decide
I own both. I would definitely recommend the IWC
Why? I love the chopard.
Chopard all the way. Take that dial into the sunlight and you will see why it beats the IWC hands down.
The ingeniur dial is hand painted, you obviously have never seen one in person
Can’t compare to the IWC … IWC is higher quality higher finishing
What? The movement on the Chopard far nicer. I've worn the Chopard it feels great on the wrist.
@@brownmcpherson5724 the IWC finished is top notch and the movement is far technical compared to the Chopard … IWC is miles ahead

Love your channel with so many stellar watches! For me the MAMACOO’ watch is my favorite. Keep the videos coming. Thanks.
For everyday use IWC, for occasion Alpine Eagle, easy
Might as well go for a real Genta piece if you're shopping for an integrated sports watch so the IWC wins.
Ingenieur is just so comfortable.. I love Chopard but this one goes to IWC.

I have the VC Gen 2. Great watch. But with B&P it's quite a bit more than the other 2. Close to 50% higher.
On the secondary market.
I only wish if chopard can tapper their bracelet a bit more
IWC Ingenieur all the way … can’t compare the OG vs a new up-comer…IWC Titanium is just perfection

😂 since when is 1982 (when the Chopard debuted) “new and upcoming”
The chopard's lume, has the prettier hue.
5:31 - deal killer
Chopard feels much higher quality in hand.
For sure the IWC is a better all around package. The Chopard feels dated. The IWC-timeless.
Chopard dial is very weird, not to mention that date location. IWC is just perfect
I like the Chopard, but who designed the dial, a proctologist?
As a board certified gastroenterologist, I can attest that the gorgeous dial of the Alpine Eagle looks nothing like an anus. If your own body part looks like this dial, I suggest a medical consultation!
Don't like either
Chopard all day long.
Looks alone, IWC all day. As a whole, it’s hard to justify that amount of money for it.
Chopard has psnache
2 redundant expensive watches
Where is the redundancy? Yes they are expensive but redundant how, because you can tell its noon when the sun is at its zenith?
Close call….IWC for me…
Do not consider IWC - sub brand , not worth Your money , or time , Chopard -love it.
The chopard is ugly, I've seen the iwc ingenier in person and it looks and feels fantastic. Iwc by a mile
Please stop giving these unrealistic wrist size recommendations. 14cm for the ingenieur? Did you smoke something?
Seen it firsthand, and it looked fine. But I promise to withhold judgement until your detailed hands-on gets published.

Tim
