    sorry if my mic has background noise, when i was editing it wasnt too loud, i'll upgrade my mic soon. maybe to a blue yeti?

    • @PileOfEmptyTapes
      @PileOfEmptyTapes Год назад +1

      The Blue Yeti is quite overrated. It sounds like the bunch of inexpensive SDC microphone capsules that it is, and most people are never making proper use of all its patterns. So you want something for USB? Try getting ahold of a Marantz Pro MPM-2000U perhaps, or if you happen to be drowning in money, the new Rode NT1 5th gen.
      As an aside, it sounds like you are basically right on top of the microphone with a pop screen. That makes your voice sound rather boomy and muffled. Together with a pronounced peak around 6-ish kHz, this gives a rather unnatural bathtub kind of response. (Not altogether a bad thing but a bit too much.) I would suggest a somewhat larger distance, and speaking up if necessary. Also, you may be able to do away with the pop screen entirely by placing the microphone off-axis towards the side, top or bottom, but rotated so the pickup side faces your mouth. That was apparently good enough for recording ABBA back in the day.

      @@PileOfEmptyTapes man u really know sounds huh haha. but yeah the muffled sound happens when i put the DeNoise filter on premiere pro. i have to put that in or else there's gonna be a bunch of white noise. the usb mic u suggested me isnt in stock on amazon so i might just go with the blue yeti or the microphone that DankPods uses in his videos. I dont wanna dunk too much money on a mic tbh just want my videos to sound good enough it keeps the viewer watching. maybe looking for a natural sounding budget mic that doesn't sound like one of those podcast mics cuz idk man i just don't like them that much

    Yo, I agree this album is a banger, for me is the best city pop album because of its consistency throughout its songs, all of them are great, so no down points. I'm glad that you are bringing awareness to it as well. BUT I didn't quite understand what you mean with Anri being a underrated artist, I mean, I'm not sure, but I would guess she is more popular in Japan than Miki or Mariya are, but you probably meant in the West, but she is in every playlist you can find in RUclips from City Pop, I think that Miki and Mariya are sou popular because of some memes or one viral song of each because social media, and also because of their looks which probably helped they having covers becoming memes. Idk, you didn't quite explain what you meant with it in the video, so what you mean? Personally I'm not sure, it might be that she never got that popular in Japan and isn't popular enough in the resurrection of City Pop in the West, you can inform about that if you know or if it was just a impression you had because Miki and Mariya are such memes (in the good sense of meme obviously).

    • @quietranged
      @quietranged  Год назад +1

      i dont get what u mean by memes but yeah i meant that Anri is underrated as an artist overall as in worldwide. i mean even in the west she's still underrated. yes the resurrection of japanese city pop did occur, but it only created a small community in the west. city pop is still in fact a niche. if i had made this video in japanese targeted at japanese viewers, then that would make me saying anri is an underrated artist invalid

    • @andrettax6052
      @andrettax6052 Год назад +1

      @@quietranged I see, that indeed makes sense that you made it targeted to the West, but it could possibly be relevant to say how popular an artist is in their country but I guess you would have been more explicit and specify saying Japan there, right? So that was kind of a dumb question by me but I still wanted to make sure. Now regarding she being underrated in the West, I said that because she gets as many monthly listeners in Spotify as any of the most popular City Pop singers, so by meme (like in gene vs. meme definition) I wanted to mean that Miki and Mariya have only one song that some time back in time got wayyy too many plays, but after that their numbers settled down, they are still solid, but it seems to me that Anri gets really solid monthly listeners as them. So to me she seems being really up there on, she gets more than twice listeners than Junko Ohashi for instance. But yes, in RUclips for some reason she is definitely underrated, but again I think the viral videos of Miki and Mariya were just a temporary fever or something :)
      Thanks for the reply btw, cheers!

    • @quietranged
      @quietranged  Год назад +1

      @@andrettax6052 the majority of the monthly listeners are probably japanese. btw can u suggest me a video idea? i am completely lost rn. ive scrapped a bunch of scripts

    • @andrettax6052
      @andrettax6052 Год назад

      @@quietranged Oh, yea, that is a good argument, I was checking on Spotify and that holds very true comparing Miki and Anri, top city from Anri is Tokyo with 5%, LA comes third, it seems she is more popular in East Asia, but I was shocked that Mariya gets 10% of her listeners from Tokyo with the same monthly listeners, I had no idea she was that popular there, Miki Japan doesn't even show up, like, wtf.
      Video idea?? Hm.... idk, maybe tell how City Pop happened in Japan, like talking about Taeko Onuki and Tatsuro Yamashita? I can't think of another artist you could talk about following Miki and Anri... I guess everyone knows that Mariya started all with Plastic Love becoming viral.

    I have to give a shout out to RUclips. Without YT there's next to zero chance I would have been exposed to this wonderful music, and short of going to Japan there's no way I would be able to find so much of it. I love discorving and listening to City Pop, I love reading the comments full of people explaining how much they love that particular City Pop song, and I love watching vidoe people make becuase they love City Pop.

    I've never really felt _Timely!!_ on an album level, despite it containing some of her big hits. Now _COOOL_ on the other hand, that's one album of hers that would have me gushing for a good while there. :) (BTW, if you come across a copy with unnaturally sharp-sounding treble, no, it's not supposed to sound like that. That was ripped from an original issue CD using preemphasis, and neither CD rippers nor music players tend to be set up for dealing with the emphasis flag properly, as this feature was rarely used past the mid-'80s and is most commonly found on Japanese classical music releases. I had to create a modified copy using the "De-emphasis DSP filter" plugin (foo_dsp_deemph) for Foobar2000.)

    • @quietranged
      @quietranged  Год назад

      i listened to COOOL and yeah it takes on a much less energized tone compared to Timely!! (not to say that that's bad) and i kinda like it. the instrumentals and production also sounds amazing. But i think what makes me like and prefer TImely!! more is because in COOOL her vocal performance isnt amazing (again not to say that it's bad) but her voice just generally stays on the same notes, ykwim? and in Timely!! her vocal performance is more impressive higher notes and stuff. and for me vocals are the most important thing in songs if they have one. But i still respect your opinion on why u like COOOL more.
