I see a lot of hateration for AOC going on but I DONT see any one of those haters providing anything but hate for someone who continues to bring facts and ideas that her haters cannot seem to refute. Name calling and saying she is an idiot is only reveals exactly how fearful, small-minded, hateful, and jealous they all really are. I say jealous because she is more popular than them (the haters men AND women on both sides of the aisle) and they cant stand it. It's pretty pathetic honestly.

Anyone who knows anything about healthcare in America, would know doctors are not paid to produce good outcomes for their patients. Doctors are paid based on how many boxes they check in your EMR and can bill to insurance (unnecessary testing driving up costs), not paid based on how healthy their patients are. Americans spend the most and have the worst health outcomes. Why expand a system that is one of the leading causes of death in the country? The constitution is such that it protects us from tyrants (communists and kings), it doesn’t provide us privileges such as being able to wait for half a year for free surgery in Canada (hopefully you live to get your treatment).

I didn't know much about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. All I've heard about her were republicans bashing her left and right. After doing MY OWN (not relying on Fox) research I've come to find out she's someone to be reckoned with. She is a very smart young woman! Anyone who tries to take her down, talks crap about her, belittles her, tries to look down on her only reflects things about themselves. She is trying to make a difference for the future and save the planet. Have those who need to be held accountable. I have MUCH respect for her for what she is doing. If all YOU have to do is talk smack about her, I dare YOU do better!

When America wakens up and realises that the world is in a mess not only with war but the main issue climate change. Here in Scotland most if our energy is made by renewable energy hoping to be 100% within the next generation, hope to see the USA following alongside soon xx
joyceflowershed would like to see that too, but may be a lot more challenging with the large landmass and infrastructure based on petroleum. I think the infrastructure should move to renewables, and vehicles can move to ethanol and hydrogen gas. Keeps enthusiasts like me happy while tackling climate change.
The US is headed for the bottom unless we embrace this green future. We are already falling way behind and are headed towards obscurity and irrelevance because we are living in the past.

One thing some people don't realize is whenever someone starts a political career and he/she has a support, will only get better and better. This young lady will be a force in US politics
If you watch her pre-election talks, you can already detect a bit of improvement. Certainly getting elected gives you a bit of authority to speak from and a new level of confidence, but it's more than that.
She is going to be fascinating to watch. I would love to see her pursue a law degree, but that's tough while in Congress, but either way, if she maintains the path she's on and stays true to her ideologies, i do see her being a force that could readily run AND win when she's reached 35.

Is Alexandra's generation the first generation that is going to understand that something must be done to address climate change? My generation missed it. It is clear to me that she gets it and she is doing her best to communicate the threat to human life this crisis presents. I support this woman. I hope those who make sport out of snickering at science and a beautiful young and intelligent woman can put away their sport for a bit and consider the impact on business and wealth in this country that a changing climate can bring. Certainly, when the rains in farm country fail, the crops die and the cattle perish, the right will come to the table. I hope they can do better than Missouri's "show me state" motto suggests and look ahead. By the time we can show them, it will be far far too late.
I agree with Richard. In fact, the climate change is off by 1/2 degree. The 1899 almanac predicted the earth would be a half a degree warmer than is was by 2000. This prediction was before the industrial revolution.

I am in Australia the USA is so far behind other countries it's not funny. One of eight houses have solar panels. Every new house has to have solar panels by law. By 2024 they will have one in three houses will have solar panels with government giving money to the low income to get solar.

AOC is a great breath of fresh air. As a person who has lived in a number of democracies I am always amazed at the dumb actions of Americans who nev er travem, never see other governments and i have even seen criticisms of the Australian system which is peerless.
I live a long time in Asia and the related nations Australia, New Zealand, Canada - all of these are really successful whilst so many Yanks are dumb and loud-mouthed (this reduces their need to actually reflect on what they do and say)

Here in Portugal we have a socialist government the leftest it has ever been, here in Portugal i can go to an hospital to the er and get treatment for whatever ills me, i will leave the hospital with no bill, here in Portugal i am entitled to a family doctor, here in Portugal the state will give you 185,something € a month if you are really poor and in need of it, here in Portugal the same medical procedures and medications you have, are cheap, last summer i had knee surgery, and because my working income is considered low i didn't have to pay for it, if i made just a little more money i would have to pay for some of it, and if a made a lot of money i would pay for all of it, here in Portugal i will have a roof over my head if i need it, we here in Portugal have no natural resources to speak of, we only have our beautiful country and the most hard working people you will ever know, by European standards we are one of the poorest country's.
Still we try not to leave anyone behind, we try to help anyone in need in spite of corruption, in spite of lobbying lawmakers, in spite of corrupt officials. Yes we are poor but we leave no one behind.
We here in Portugal are building and have already built wind farms and dams and solar farms, that generate more than half of our electricity needs, we will become a clean energy country in the very near future. Its our green deal, we make them and we build them, we have already created those jobs, in fact we sell our wind farm tech to the US.
Here in Portugal guns are regulated, there never has been a school massacre.
Here in Portugal we are taxed as you wouldn't believe, but at least i now i can depend on something if it all goes wrong for me.
If i have to pay for all of that thru my taxes id rather pay to my government than to some company owned by who knows who.
Me, i work for a living, i'm a 47 yo divorced man, i live paycheck to paycheck, i'm just thankful i get to do it here in Portugal.
Excuse me I like America we aren't perfect here and we do pay a fair amount of taxes here but If you have a Trade? Skill? or qualification? , degree?, any credentials or Plaque that says you have completed some form of education you can make a decent living here. Here the Government depends one ME and my fellow Americans to go to work and pay our taxes so we can support the poor like yourself unfortunately we also have people abusing this system of handing out when they are quite capable of working this makes it really hard on the really disabled here who can't work which I do not mind supporting.

As of December 2013, wind power capacity in Portugal (Madeira and Azores included) was of 4,731 MW. Wind share of total electricity consumption was 23% saving nearly 8,182,900 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
So....23% wind, and 0.58% solar, isn't even close to half.
