I AM NOT AFFILIATED IN ANY WAY or receive any incentive to talk about or discuss this amazing little telescope, I just love it and want to share my experiences with it!

I want to thank you so much for your videos. First, I should say I purchased the Dwarf 2 Deluxe via the holiday weekend on Amazon. I then started looking on RUclips to find out how best to use it. I stumbled across Cuiv the lazy geek first. But then your channel showed up next. I AM LOVING IT!!! I just sat down this morning, drinking my coffee and watched all of your "adventures" - except the live video feed as I have to run off for a bit. But I didn't want to wait to comment. I had to go back and "LIKE" all (but the live video) right away. I really appreciate the informative videos you have posted. I have been into photography for over fifty years, but this newer technology is challenging but I am look forward to the wonders of the sky that a midwest gal from Wisconsin USA used to watch from her back on a summer nite. THANK YOU so much for reigniting my love of the stars. I believe I'll be ordering the masks and the level soon as well. Have a great day!!
Thank you so much for your comments! It inspires me to keep going knowing I'm adding value to the Dwarf 2 and Astro community! :-)
I ordered the Dwarf smart telescope the other day. I can't wait for them to deliver it to me so I can test it!!! Nice video!
Have fun!
I'm excited! Can't wait to get my hands on it. Excellent review. Love the new auto focus.
Agreed, great focus is what makes your images sharp and really pop! The Dwarf 2 just keeps getting better and better, can't wait until this software update is fully available! :-)
Think a superb must have addition to the new software is the ability to auto fade the subjects that wouldn't be visible to the scope in the library at the time of shooting.
With so many now added can take quite a bit of time to constantly go through what is and what isn't 'shootable' at that moment.
Faded out icons would encourage users to try different constellations, nebula etc that they wouldn't normally go for.
When travelling with the scope around the world this process would simplify the whole use incredibly
I agree completely! :-)
Great news! I like that idea...
Ron & Maryellen 👥
Looks amazing - Can you explain what the 'Joystick Icon' does on the right of the screen please ?
thanks for showing us all this looks awesome perhaps when realised you can run us all through putting it on the unit keep the fantastic work up
I will do, thanks for watching! :-)
Thanks for showing this! Can't wait to see what the final update will look like!
Yip me too! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, much appreciated! :-)
Wow.. Thanks for showing us the beta. Sure looks like some great improvements..
Yip very happy with it so far! Dwarflab just keep innovating! :-)
Thank you for your review please keep it up 👍
Thanks, will do!
Amazing content Stuart 😊 Magic ✨
i really like your Channel, great job. Hello from Germany.
Aww thanks very much, that's really appreciated! :-)
The firmware upgrade is great the autofocus has really improved a lot, the 4K image is also another great addition, the only issue I have is it’s response time it took to collaborate.
Yeah the software has improved a lot, the Auto focus is so much better and for me calibrates well when in focus properly! Loving the new software! :-)
Excellent look, thank you. I would suggest they change the name “Calibration” to “Alignment.” Calibration in the astrophoto world means applying darks, flats, bias etc. Getting any GoTo system going is called “alignment,” meaning aiming at and aligning on bright stars or star fields. I assume it still aligns on and plate solves three star fields. The terminology Dwarf uses is confusing to anyone used to the jargon of astrophotography. I look forward to trying the new software.
Very True but with the Dwarf 2 really aimed at newcomers hopefully not much of an issue! :-)
Thanks for this tutorial. I really needed it, although I'm sure the layout of the interface could be done more simply.
Hi astro , just looked at this video again and just wanted to know if you have heard anything when the new update will be out . Have just got my dwarf 2 .
Sorry only answering now, been so busy but as you probably anyway know now android software released 25.12.23 :-)
Thanks @@astro-dwarf will you be doing a video of all the newer features 🤞🤞👍👍
Did the draft all the time was in the bag or just go calibration process?
Steward, only say what was shown in the stream! Very important as it is proprietary!
I'm just helping you and Dwarf Lab and supporting your channel. Wish you the best!
Ron & Maryellen 👥
Yip the video was only effectively the and Demo as was done in their live stream, testing and reporting I've done separately! Thanks for the comment and taking the time to watch! :-)
Thanks very much for this, I'm running the current beta but haven't been asked to run the new one but I can understand that they don't want too many inputs at this stage. Looks like it might be clear tonight, so I'll be out with the Dwarf :)
Yip I only have it for 7 days myself, thanks for watching! :-)
WOW, for a noob like me, this new software looks absolutely fantastic!
Hi , been following you for a bit now. Great job. I have a question. On the left side of the screen, 3rd icon down , is an exclamation mark. Do you know what it is for . I can’t find any info on it
I don't get an exclamation mark, not sure what you're seeing, sorry!
I contacted DL. They said its for future development@@astro-dwarf
i wish i could get my hands on that new software great vid by the way
I only have it for 7 days as a beta tester but am happy to help Dwarflab with the testing process! :-)
Great video!
Thanks appreciated! :-)
Looking much better, and easier use!
And put the images through post-processing?
Yip will be out testing again this weekend hopefully some clear skies and nice images to post process? :-)
So far it looks good, glad to see the Curves will be included in IOS. Any word about full screen image size for the iPad?
Great questions.. I have been using an iPad from the start. Really not sure I could have used my D2 on an iPhone 11 screen.
@@lesrobot01 I have a 13 pro and it’s fine, but full screen on an iPad would be so much better….considering the larger size of each function, and clarity/image quality of the screen.
I want aware of any full screen issues on IOS, I only use android both phone and tablet versions of the software and have had no issues, sorry can be more help for IOS!
This is looking very promising. I think the portablility factor alone is swaying me towards the Dwarf II over the SeeStar S50. 👍🏻
Agreed, it's just such a versatile and portable wee powerhouse! :-)
I have both, the good thing with D2 is can EQ mount it. I like D2 for wider field, and Seestar eats it for resolution and detail, and acquires images faster and worth buying both. Seestar is like a pro version of Dwarf app out of the box has a star atlas which is something the D2 should have had
@@denodanthank you for replying. I understand a star atlas is coming for the Dwarf app, which will be useful. The 4k binning looks to be improving the images too. It’s a tough choice but I’m only getting one of them (as far as my wife is concerned anyway 🤣😜)
@@denodan Your exactly right. I have had the Dwarf 2 for about 6 months now. I used it once, it didn't go well so I just put it in the bag and haven't used it since. I have had the Seestar S50 for about a month now and love it. However, that being said, I am now anxious for the new update on the Dwarf to come out and give it another try. I think I'll enjoy it more once the update is released, but will be hard pressed to beat the Seestar S50 for ease of use.
Si es por portabilidad lo entiendo,si es por calidad,no te compres el dwarf,yo tengo el dwarf hace 9 meses, está última actualización, me parece un poco engañosa,no es como para tirar cohetes,si quieres yo mismo te vendo el mío,full total
Very interesting video. Have you thinked about double the 100 mm focal length using a movile phone 2x lens?
I did look into this somewhat in this video ruclips.net/video/pAKbl726HrI/видео.html but it's not as easy as you might think! Thanks for the comment! :-)
I absolutely love your accent
Aww thanks, I don't notice myself! :-)
@@astro-dwarf😊 I love your content by the way please keep making vids!😊❤
I’m not sure what you did following completion of the darks. Removing the camera from its bag - how did you set it before calibrating, please?
Darks and calibrating are unrelated, totally different processes! You can do Darks at any time, then it the bag, focus, then calibrate, pretty straight forward! :-)
I get that. But you went from getting darks to autofocus. That doesn’t show how you set the Dwarf to do that. What was the initial direction for the lenses?
Just not clear, I’m afraid.
Stuart have you got any ideas on what new product Dwarflabs will be unveiling soon, to me it appears to be a new telescope cause all current telescope are all sold out their website.
Thanks for sharing. Only change the interface, but all the functions almost the same.I am looking forward to the longer exposure(eg. 20s even 30s for each longest expo. sub) and choose of binning.
I'm sure they will continually innovate and improve! That's why I love this little telescope! :-)
At first I thought maybe you accidentally swiped the count from 200 to 145 but after it finished the 145 I noticed you were getting low on battery anyway. Which made me wonder if the Dwarf automatically lowered your intended count to what it could do with the battery life it had left, so it would be able to finish and not die midprocess.
I checked again after I had actually accidentally swiped to 145 lol, (fat fingers, lol) :-)
O ok lol. Anyway thanks for the video and update. Keep up the good , love your content.
Great video! I am having trouble downloading the beta version, did you connect the telescope to the pc and downloaded the firmware? I tried a million times and won't pass the green button " upgrade now" Thanks, Diana
I had a dedicated link to Beta Test, I'll need to upgrade properly myself when it's released! :-)
@astro-dwarf HI, I have that link, too. Still not working, thats why I asked if the Dwarf needs to be connected to a pc first
So is the auto focus an improvement?
Yes for sure, I felt it was bang on for focus, I was really happy with it! :-)
Can you tell me when the new app is coming out. Plus can I download the beta like u have there thanks
We don't have a release date yet for the Dwarf 2 Software Update, although hopefully soon! Unfortunately, you can't download the Beta yet, unless you've been invited to be a beta tester! But I know Dwarflab are really keen to release the new update as soon as its ready, they are absolutely going as far as they can, for sure! :-)
@astro-dwarf Would you mind listing out the steps i need to follow to take an image please (complete newbie)? I have the following written down
Polar alignment
Dark frames
Focus
Calibration
Is this correct ?
I would remove polar alignment if you are a beginner. That's a more complex and time consuming task and you're entering intermediate or advanced territory
You do not need polar alignment to get great images from the Dwarf 2 😊
My next video will be doing just that! :-)
Thanks Scott, hope the IOS will be out soon. I'd a heck of a job the last few times I've been out. Focus being the main issue.
No worries mate! :-) P. S. It's Stewart :-)
Are the dark frames automatically being subtracted as it stacks or do you need to do that later>
Yes, the image you see on the Dwarf 2 as your capturing will have dark frames subtracted! :-)
Wow looks like some good improvement incoming, especially to the object catalogue which is exciting! Do you think the dark frame process taking 20 mins is going to eat into the battery life a lot?
Doing anything on battery power will use capacity.
@@PowerScissorcurrent version of software takes 10 minutes, this is double. I’ve found by time I take dark shots, polar align (which is def worth doing) and focus and calibrate that you don’t complete a full shoot of binning before the battery dies. It seems this is doubling the dark shoot time and takes longer to focus (but gets better focus). These are all trade off of quality vs the battery life which isn’t too great as it is?
Wondering if need to start thinking about external battery power to get the best out of the new features
@@alanharbinson9004 If you're taking dark frames every session and polar aligning an alt/az telescope, by time you're done all that you'll probably need some dew heaters also so external power will be a necessity.
If I was going to do all that stuff I'd get my better telescopes out. The D2 is great at being up and running in less than a minute...so that's how I use it. If you're going to be spending all that time every session, an external power source PD compatible of 17w will be a must.
Will it still certainly use 20 mins of whatever battery is available but remember you only need to do the Dark frames one once to use in the Dwarf 2 app! :-)
On another channel I saw a thumb with an inclinometer looking thing in the new firmware and they showed what appeared to be a polar aligned dwarf, you didn't seem to cover either here, was that just fiction then?
Yip I think so mate! :-)
Is it already available? Or just the Beta testing?
Just beta just now, not sure if the actual release date yet! Thanks for watching! :-)
I notice you selected 200 shots on NGC 891 but the status bar shows only 145. How many did it actually take?
Yip I mentioned that in the video, but if you look carefully you can actually see I accidentally set 145, so the settings were correct! :-)
Yes works better. I have it also, and gave feedback to issues, but images are better
... And the autofocus worked like a dream for me was very happy with it! :-)
In the live stream they said "End of october" for the app to be available. At his moment the 'little people' can't even get into beta testing. Any idea when the app will finally be available? And please don't say end of december/start of january...
The truth is I don't know! It's only people like myself that signed up to Beta Test that have used it, we only get it for 7 days then back to old version for us too! The Beta testing is an important step before release to iron out any bugs, so hopefully full release won't be too long! :-)
Hi astro dwarf how to solve problem with my problem i was pressing on the buton(on/off)and the tripod went down and turned into a propeller
Great then you can use it on a small boat as well then! Lol :-)
just got one and was struggling because all the tutorials are on old software
My next video will be somewhat of a video tutorial for the new software at least for astro mode! Stay tuned! :-)
Wow great !!
Thanks! :-)
new update out dec 25th ...but it wont go pass stage 4...just hangs for ever
I've not had any issues with the new release, yet at least, how you get these issues resolved?
Do you know if the curves feature will be made available on IOS with this release?
That I don't know but I can try find out for you but it would make sense to! :-)
@@astro-dwarf Fantastic. Thanks for this.
Yes the curve feature is now on the iOS app beta
I have been wanting to use my dwarf in my backyard but with the trees and houses nearby it has been difficult for me to get it calibrated. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get it calibrated in my backyard?
If you point it above 45 degrees to clear sky before starting calibration you can get past a lot of trees. In the upcoming release the horizontal angle required for calibration will be a lot less which helps with building obstructions.
They pointing the lenses much higher perhaps 70 degrees to clear obstructions! :-)
I know I'm in the minority, or the only one, but I much prefer the old app layout and UI.
I wish they would have incorporated the new features into the old UI.
I immediately reverted back to the old app. I'm not a fan of binning, but it's not worth the new layout to me.
I know where your coming from the layout was good but getting used to the new software now and the new features are great! :-)
Buenos día de donde descargo esa actualización,que tenga un buen fin de semana
Sorry its not available yet, I'm only beta testing! Thanks for watching! :-)
@@astro-dwarf que pena la espero paciente 👌👌
How did you get permission to make a video? Isn't beta testing confidential ? That is what they write on every forum. Nobody shares details and here you come with the video.
I was given permission and am only really showing what they showed during their live stream! I'm careful to only show what you have already been shown by dwarflab! :-)
He probably has permission. He is a very good friend and supporter of the owners of Dwarf labs. He was a guest on their live feed
