  • In this episode I head offshore to give a hands-on demonstration of how to properly set out multiple planers at one time and troll them without getting tangled. I set forth simple guidelines to follow so that you can get out and search that water column and find the fish. I also included a demo of how to use a bridle with a quick release planer. If you've ever wondered about how to troll more than one planer at a time, or just thought maybe it's too complicated and said no away... this episode's for you.
    Enjoy,
    Tight lines & good vibes.

    Keith, could you give me a detailed description of how your bridal is built? Meaning what kind of knots (mainline to swivel, swivel to swivel and swivel to leader) you use and what kind of swivels you use? I keep having trouble with my set up. Thank you.

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  Год назад

      My bridle is a little we from hiw most folks make it... mine is made with 150 lb test mono and it's crimped on both ends to form tiny loops to hold the quick release planer. It's attached to my main line, which is 80 lb braid, using a double Palomar knot. Then my leader (60 lb mono) attached with a crimped loop to the bridle. I use crimps because my guides are too small to accept the heavy swivels typically used for bridles.

      @@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing Nice job as always. I haven't been out since hurricane Ian except once maybe 3 months later in November but the water was still all churned up. I'm sure the cold fronts didn't help and the bite was non-existent.

    Also, what is the best way to trip your planer? I have a heck of a time trying to trip mine. I am assuming you have to slow your speed down? Thanks again.

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  Год назад

      So your main line has to be braid in order to be able to trip your planer. If it is, you can do it this way... you don't have to slow down. You'll Tighten your drag, then pull back on the rod and lower the tip quickly, followed by a quick tug pulling back again and this should trip it... sometimes it takes a few tries, but it works

    Great tips. I pick something up every time! Now I just need the wind to die down so I can go fishing!
    Any tip for retrieving the planer to release it? The past experience I had was a real nuisance. Are those all roller poles the Coastal rods? Would I get away with the tip and bottom guide being rollers? Thanks again

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  Год назад +1

      The rid with 2 rollers is fine.
      There is a way to trip the planer. Have a tight drag, pull back, let the lines go slack then give it a jerking pull back, this should trip it. Here's the link to a video where I show you how to do it

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  8 месяцев назад +1

      I'd troll a Boone turbo hammer up on top... But I'd put it out far as a shotgun line... You don't want to put it in short inside your planer lines.
