The animated series was amazing as Zilla Jr could actually kick some ass, something his dad just could not, also I love the Zilla design and movie, but I love him as a whole separate Kaiju from Godzilla
I love how the Sum 41 song they chose for the scene in final wars has lyrics that go: You are such a tragedy, A Disappointment, A Disappointment! Born in the land of the free! A Disappointment, A Disappointment!

Speaking of 10 Cloverfield Lane, that movie had a small controversy as well, as the plot was very similar to a comic book called Shelter Me by Dan Wickline & Mark Vigouroux originally published in the magazine Metal Hurlant #142, in 2003, and later adapter to TV for the second episode of Metal Hurlant Chronicles in 2012. In fact, the movie and the comic were so similar, they only saved the movie from being a complete rip-off by rewriting it into the Cloverfield franchise, as the original ending was supposedly exactly the same as the comic. And that's how J. J. Abrams, perhaps unknowingly, saved the movie from being sued by shamelessly making it a sequel of Cloverfield.
Godzilla '98 was a fun monster movie. The problem is, it is a very bad Godzilla movie. People are saying this should have been a Beast from 20,000 Fathoms remake. Probably would have worked better.

He was basically the same character from The Professional, Jean Reno is awesome. That Godzilla movie was terrible. Generic D movie and cash grab by the studio. As a kid i was excited, than disappointed, than they released a Toho Godzilla movie relatively recently and i was blown away. The one that introduced the evil version of Mothra and had a black design for Godzillas skin.
Heyy just discovered your channel and omg I'm in love with your enthusiasm and humour and the guy behind the camera hahahaha. You make me smile and educate me on killer whales and popular cartoons. I loved your Jason vorrhees video it made laugh so much 😂. Keep up the great work I'm watching all your videos now ❤
Love the use of that Shin Godzilla clip at 4:40 making it look like it’s closing it’s eyes in despair of ‘98. Same with the Godzilla vs Megalon clip of him running backwards🤣
I mean, the design is already decent, imo. Just make it bulkier, and maybe make it quadrupedal so it isn’t so off balance, and you’ve already got an impressive kaiju on your hands.
I hope that Toho invited Rolland and Ebert to the opening night of Godzilla Final Wars, and every Toho producer there pointed their fingers at those two while laughing their asses off while Zilla gets destroyed.
I remember the 98 Godzilla. I was 8 and after seeing the ads for it, begged my dad to go see it. He never liked going to the movies but because he grew up watching the originals, he went this once. We arrived at the theater, I was seriously hyped about seeing Godzilla, so excited... I fell asleep within the first half hour. To this day I still haven't seen the entire movie, and I've tried multiple times.
Funny that people still buy the "Tōhō hated 1998" thing when Tōhō themselves approved the design and the screenplay before they even saw the movie. They would have been fine with it had the General audience accepted it.
Toho hated the movie itself, not the design per say. They might have approved of the screenplay but it also depends if it had anything changed afterwards or if they realized how it will look on screen. As for the reference in GMK...unless they had a kaiju set up to be the allegory for 9/11(though it's a little too soon for it) for it, It's most likely a ref to the kaiju in 1998 since in the actual universe it was believed to be godzilla which matches up to what the reference in the scene.
What really happened was the bigwigs at Corporate Toho saw the design and they hated it. Devlin and Emmerich basically said "Well, this is what we're doing and if you don't like it, you can go screw yourselves." The Toho heads had a meeting and they really wanted that sweet, sweet Sony cash. So they told D&E, "You can keep this one. We'll keep ours." And they took the money cause Toho Corporate values money above all else. But yes, they did hate the design from the get-go.
Have you ever had to have your boss sign and approve a document you know normally won’t be approved? You wait until they are flooded with work and you walk up to them and ask them to sign it. They ask you what are they signing and you tell your boss a brief version of it; so he signs it because he’s too busy.
Remember at the time blockbuster CGI films were poping off with independent days, my big brother work in movie theater in 1998. Seeing the commercials trailers for Godzilla 1998 was HUGE. Got over it with the movie it's just a blockbuster pack movie
My brother and I watched this in the theater probably 6 times. The theater was empty except us every time and we took great pleasure in standing up, making jokes, throwing stuff at the screen... The scene where he casts the fishing pole, pulls up 'zilla immediately made us laugh so hard every time.
It's been like twenty year sence that movie, I swear the hate for zilla gets annoying sometimes. Just about anything can be made bad or cool depending on who's hands they are in, like in the cartoon of Zilla or the comics that feature him.
If Tomoyoki Tanaka, Ishiro Honda, Eiji Tsuburaya and Akira Ifukube the Fathers & Creators of Godzilla were alive today and see Godzilla 1998 film until their passing we will never know their real thoughts about the film i think may be they will say the same thing like Kenpachiro Satsuma and Haruo Nakajima and find it poorly and it doesnt capture the spirit of the Godzilla. I am glad that Haruo Nakajima the Original Godzilla saw Godzilla 2014 and loved it the film is best to honor the character than dishonor it if you dont than well you are asshole simple is that. I am a huge Godzilla fan i watch all Godzilla movies and saw other kaiju related films too, Godzilla 1998 i dont like because is really not a Godzilla movie is just a juracssic park theme than a Godzilla film, anyway good video
Uh huh dancing Godzilla, flying Godzilla, flying karate kick Godzilla and you're taking about anyone who likes the movie that doesn't portray at least the kaiju part as a complete joke is an asshole? Flying Godzilla, Godzilla's use all that stock footage Revenge? I love them all, they're big, they're monsters and sometimes they even serum a like menacing, but were not talking fine art here, were talking Godzilla. Toho left s lot of room for interpretation in the originals. Shin? Garbage! I still watch it, come on, Godzilla's in it.
Well to bad! He is returning in the Godzilla Planet of Monsters anime series (not officially comfirmed yet that he will be in the movie), but he does make an apperence in the Godzilla Monster Apocalypse prequel to Planet of Monsters as mistaken for Godzilla which caused a great joy around the world when the army killed off an adult version, but was soon later renamed Zilla after learning it was not Godzilla and was mass producing eggs across France (reference to the 1998 movie where it states that the Frence had caused his origin). He was rated as one of the most dangerous targets right under Godzilla due to his mass production of eggs each day. I can't wait to see hime back in action!
ZILLA Productions 303 people keep forgetting about godzilla jr. Like if you were mad at the movie go watch the show because it shows how godzilla jr can be a godzilla because he has the same traits as godzilla But he also some things that are better than godzilla. Like for example: faster healing and is faster in agility and is also bigger than most godzilla being at the height of 90 meters which is close to godzilla 2014 and shin godzilla height.
My introduction to Godzilla was 'Godzilla Vs the Smog Monster'...which is what Hedora was called for the US release, I was 4 years old and saw it in a theatre.
I fucking LOVED the 1998 Godzilla. I like ALL Godzilla, personally. And the 1998 one was fucking awesome IMO. One of favorite monster designs behind the Graboid.
i knew Toho didnt like the movie, but i had no idea that Kenpachiro Satsuma ( Heisei Godzilla suit actor ) walked out during a screening at G-Con. damn
*Better than 1998 Godzilla, that's for sure.* The movie gets called "Godzilla" and gets it right. Looks like Godzilla, powerful like Godzilla, and kicks kaiju ass like Godzilla.
The movie was bad, yes. But the Taco Bell promotional tie-ins made it all worthwhile. "Heeeere lizard lizard lizard..." Edit, are those actual clips? I don't remember the CGI being that bad. Of course I haven't seen it since 1999.
The Cloverfield Paradox(God Particle) also had the Cloverfield connection tacked on last minute. They aren't considered sequels by the Cloverfield creators. Godzilla: the Animated Series was quite good, and the 1988 movie was so bad that Toho created the millennium series to remind people what Godzilla was. Some good things came out of that disaster.
In final wars, zilla in Sydney, thus Australia, is an inaccurate representation of what would happen. A kid would sneeze and we would all have giant lizard for lunch
I was introduced to Godzilla through this movie and I loved it. The design is nice and the scenes he show up are awesome. Loved this so much as a kid I bought the movie OST, which is pretty good.
Alice Willoughby it was my childhood movie, u remember that I screeched in enthusiasm for watching it, and I personally liked it birng my first Godzilla movie
I loved this movie! I rewatch it at least once a year and I will continue to do so in the future! To make you doubt my sanity even more...I never liked any of the other Godzilla movies at all(even the later ones)

Yeah love his roles. I bought Onimushu 3 because he was in it.
Kyle fair enough. Now sure the movie wasn't "godzilla" but it was a fun action romp.
Heyy just discovered your channel and omg I'm in love with your enthusiasm and humour and the guy behind the camera hahahaha. You make me smile and educate me on killer whales and popular cartoons. I loved your Jason vorrhees video it made laugh so much 😂. Keep up the great work I'm watching all your videos now ❤
When I was a kid....I cried when they killed Gino...I don't know why but that shit got me xD
Love the use of that Shin Godzilla clip at 4:40 making it look like it’s closing it’s eyes in despair of ‘98. Same with the Godzilla vs Megalon clip of him running backwards🤣
Godzilla king of the monsters 2019 is one of the best Godzilla films of all time
I hate how they have the girl from stranger things screaming at godzilla towards the end of the movie. Felt like a crossover
@@TheTboy007 it was Ghidorah actually but yeah I get your point that was the stupidest scene with Madison
Casuals would agree with you, but 2019 was not one of the best Godzilla movie hell fucking no.
Movie would have been better without a Parent custody battle slapped in there.
@@cradodragmire1563 true
every time they play clips from Shin Gojira I get exited because I regularly listen to the soundtrack.
It would be badass and hilarious if Zilla evolved then returned as this epic ass better designed monster
I mean, the design is already decent, imo. Just make it bulkier, and maybe make it quadrupedal so it isn’t so off balance, and you’ve already got an impressive kaiju on your hands.
As someone who is completely bouldered, that image of Godzilla flying away using his radioactive fire breath is particularly funny.
That was not Godzilla. That was silly Godzilla. That was Zilla.
- Toho.
Legendary Godzilla is our apology for that heap of doody
As a Godzilla movie, it didn't work. As a monster movie, I absolutely love it
I hope that Toho invited Rolland and Ebert to the opening night of Godzilla Final Wars, and every Toho producer there pointed their fingers at those two while laughing their asses off while Zilla gets destroyed.
when I first saw Final wars with my mom, we laughed our asses off at that scene when Godzilla killed that phony!
Seriously? You slept? How? The movie wasn't even that boring.
15 seconds actually the origanal Sidney attack
Bro I have this movie on VHS I always thought it was a dinosaur movie I never thought it was a godzilla movie.
Funny that people still buy the "Tōhō hated 1998" thing when Tōhō themselves approved the design and the screenplay before they even saw the movie. They would have been fine with it had the General audience accepted it.
That scene in GMK is Reference to 9/11 happening just a few months earlier.
Galaxeus 9/11 didnt happen in 1998 though, that theory doesnt make sense
I love this Godzilla as well as the cartoon. It's my favorite🔥🐲💚
My brother and I watched this in the theater probably 6 times. The theater was empty except us every time and we took great pleasure in standing up, making jokes, throwing stuff at the screen... The scene where he casts the fishing pole, pulls up 'zilla immediately made us laugh so hard every time.
I mean, they literally BLEW IT UP.
About the whole "Godzilla is invincible" thing, my favourite bit from the films is that bit where he tanks a black hole.
It's been like twenty year sence that movie, I swear the hate for zilla gets annoying sometimes. Just about anything can be made bad or cool depending on who's hands they are in, like in the cartoon of Zilla or the comics that feature him.
the cartoon is about zilla jr.
i had to say it
Zilla I awful.
Zilla Jr. Is the one from the animated series.
What I heard was toho sent a member over to supervise the 2014 godzilla movie to make sure
NGTGamingTube it's just not Godzilla but it's still a cool kaiju I also like his roar.
same
Uh huh dancing Godzilla, flying Godzilla, flying karate kick Godzilla and you're taking about anyone who likes the movie that doesn't portray at least the kaiju part as a complete joke is an asshole? Flying Godzilla, Godzilla's use all that stock footage Revenge? I love them all, they're big, they're monsters and sometimes they even serum a like menacing, but were not talking fine art here, were talking Godzilla. Toho left s lot of room for interpretation in the originals. Shin? Garbage! I still watch it, come on, Godzilla's in it.
1998 Godzilla looked cool and was a fun movie imo.
The fat Godzilla we have now is pretty hilarious so both good in their own ways.
ZILLA Productions 303 and then zilla jr came around and made the adult version look like alittle bitch
dallen12378 Gaming 👍
ZILLA Productions 303 people keep forgetting about godzilla jr. Like if you were mad at the movie go watch the show because it shows how godzilla jr can be a godzilla because he has the same traits as godzilla But he also some things that are better than godzilla. Like for example: faster healing and is faster in agility and is also bigger than most godzilla being at the height of 90 meters which is close to godzilla 2014 and shin godzilla height.
ZILLA Productions 303 where can I find that prequel?
Warren JB it is a book
I just got this movie from the local library today. I first watched this movie in 2013, it was actually the first Godzilla movie I saw.
I didn't have a problem with 1998 Godzilla
Ok
@@davidicke1974 me neither
Same
My introduction to Godzilla was 'Godzilla Vs the Smog Monster'...which is what Hedora was called for the US release, I was 4 years old and saw it in a theatre.
I fucking LOVED the 1998 Godzilla. I like ALL Godzilla, personally. And the 1998 one was fucking awesome IMO. One of favorite monster designs behind the Graboid.
Tremors fucking rules.
As a monster movie, okay. As a GODZILLA movie? NEVER
i knew Toho didnt like the movie, but i had no idea that Kenpachiro Satsuma ( Heisei Godzilla suit actor ) walked out during a screening at G-Con. damn
Don’t hate on 2014, that was a masterpiece
*Better than 1998 Godzilla, that's for sure.*
The movie gets called "Godzilla" and gets it right. Looks like Godzilla, powerful like Godzilla, and kicks kaiju ass like Godzilla.
Godzilla 2014 is great that god himself would watch
I remember having toys from that movie. They really had gone all out on capitalizing every aspect of that movie to the fullest.
The movie was bad, yes. But the Taco Bell promotional tie-ins made it all worthwhile. "Heeeere lizard lizard lizard..."
Edit, are those actual clips? I don't remember the CGI being that bad. Of course I haven't seen it since 1999.
The Cloverfield Paradox(God Particle) also had the Cloverfield connection tacked on last minute. They aren't considered sequels by the Cloverfield creators.
Godzilla: the Animated Series was quite good, and the 1988 movie was so bad that Toho created the millennium series to remind people what Godzilla was. Some good things came out of that disaster.
The Godzilla 1998 introduced me to the King of the Monsters
This just got recommended to me. I will say, I had no idea until now about Cloverfield 3.
To be honest, though, a quiet place was freaking amazing.
Get that shit opinion out of here
Alleged Combustion how could you not like that movie?? O_O
Alleged Combustion it's really good.
I've been looking for this comment. I'd say " A Quiet Place" is the best film Paramount pictures will put out in 2018.
The 2014 godzilla feels like an apology to toho
In final wars, zilla in Sydney, thus Australia, is an inaccurate representation of what would happen.
A kid would sneeze and we would all have giant lizard for lunch
True, true, but the real question is...
How did you type this using giant chainsaws?
We must know
I love this channel for adding in flying Godzilla!
You guys have a real problem staying on topic.
The reason I keep watching. It keeps it fresh, you never know what's going to happen next.
WRATH2501
That is why we love them!
Something tells me that like 90% of his subs are ADD like me.....it's literally the perfect channel for us.
rushthezeppelin lol I feel ya I'm ADHD he is like looking in a mirror I can barely stay on track
Literally why I subbed. Not all content is for yoh.
loved final wars remember watching it with my mate back in the day and we laughed our ass off because of how quick zilla was killled
Lucky they couldnt do godzilla 2 thanks god
I also couldnt finish this movie bc how bad it was for me
have you seen zilla jr? [the animated series]
that's the kaiju that would have been in the movie
I finished the movie quite a few times throughout my years.
Cloverfield Paradox was trippy and left me with more questions than answers. It was fun.
Godzilla 1998 is a guilty pleasure for me. I wish Toho would at least make Zilla playable in the video games.
I loved❤ Godzilla 1998 (Zilla)
this was acctually one of my favorite movies when i was little
I don't care what anyone says I like the design of the 1998 Godzilla
7:55 is the funniest thing i have ever seen.
That scream is so perfectly cut
G
I like that Godzilla movie
imo the 1998 godzilla had a badass design, he just... wasnt really a godzilla
I like the 1998 Godzilla!
Aww man, 3:12 hits me hard. Miss those beautiful towers.
What's wrong with you people 1998 was a good movie
a lot of people would say that it's a good movie, but a bad godzilla movie. its like fallout 4 is a great game but a bad fallout game.
But it feels off and doesnt feel like Godzilla
I was introduced to Godzilla through this movie and I loved it. The design is nice and the scenes he show up are awesome. Loved this so much as a kid I bought the movie OST, which is pretty good.
Gee, am I the only one who LIKED the 1998 Godzilla?
Alice Willoughby it was my childhood movie, u remember that I screeched in enthusiasm for watching it, and I personally liked it birng my first Godzilla movie
Yes yes you are
No, no your not an you two fan boys up top need to go get a room! everyone has an opinion i also loved this movie
@@thekevin654 you only liked it cuz ur a lizard person
I loved this movie!
I rewatch it at least once a year and I will continue to do so in the future!
To make you doubt my sanity even more...I never liked any of the other Godzilla movies at all(even the later ones)
Godzilla 1998 is basically a remake of The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. When you divest it of all its Godzilla elements and put it in New York, you're left with The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms.
IDK the 1998 Godzilla movie looked more like how a lizard would look like if it was mutated by radiation and I personally liked it.
