Whether something happened in her past isn’t relevant to the topic. An adult knows what’s right or wrong; she can realize that her trauma (if any) can be healed by many other avenues besides inflicting trauma on another.

That kid will be more traumatized by everyone's reaction to everything than if they'd just discretely separated them and dealt with the situation as human beings respecting one another. Obviously we can't do that, we need to shame them both. Maybe she'll fight the charges and force him to get up on the stand and further humiliate himself for the texts he sent. One way or another, whether through the imagined made up trauma or the overreaction of the courts and DA, there WILL be trauma, even if it's done by the courts. But hey, he'll grow up and live his life with everyone telling him over and over again how much of a victim he is, how strong he is, how he is so bold to put that nasty person in the past behind him to grow and move on with strong ambitions, it'll never end and let's not forget the egos of everyone involved, all so noble and just with no skeletons of their own they're hiding. Wait, isn't that the mantra for all these so called encounters?
