I was nine in 86 and just about done with toys at that point but I do remember thinking they were pretty cool. The market was just so saturated by that point. Most kids had Transformers, GI Joe and He Man, with maybe some MASK and Thundercats thrown in. There wasn't room for something that was so similar to what had came before. Think that's why the kids coming up behind me took to toy lines that were so different like TMNT and X-Men. They had different vibes to them.
@@maxcooper6554 my brother had had Ace McCloud and the extra kit that basically turned him into a human jet.. but he also had Jake Rockwell and the ‘Wild Weasel’ kit the had a button to flip him into a ground based artillery unit… all I had were stuff to fire two torpedoes across the pond or something that launched a water mine out the back end. Older brothers got all the good stuff 😂
I remember this show. I liked it as a kid. Cartoon Network just launched in Europe, free via Astra Sattelite tv. Back then you got all the Hanna-Barbera catalogue and some WB toons there. The Flintstones, Jetsons, Space Ghost, Centurions, Yogi Bear, Wacky Racers, Scooby-Doo and many, many, many more. Happy times. And for me it was a great way to learn some english🙂
Some reason, where I live, this show replaced Robotech. But the odd thing was, it replaced it on either a Wednesday or a Thursday. This is the only time I can remember that happening. Most of the time when they changed the lineup, they did it on a Monday. And it was not as if the Robotech story had ended, the last one they showed was called, "Hired Gun." The next day, the Centurions came on at 6:30 in the morning. I was quite annoyed. I liked Robotech and they were almost at the end of "the new generation." I took my annoyance out on The Centurions (they took away my Robotech) and never gave it a chance
No it isn't as fondly remembered. It was very clearly a THIS IS TO SELL TOYS show, which was fine, but the actual problem was the toys. They just didn't actually make much. The IDEA makes perfect sense. They should have had all kinds of different attachments and stuff, but they were always using the same gear, over and over, so you didn't actually get to see the concept be used properly. The show was good, at least. But yeah, the actual toy aspect was underbaked.
Centurions was an OK show, but great toys. Had several.
I could honestly see this doing well as a reboot if done right.
Exactly 👍🏾

this show was fire, in some ways ahead of its time, deserves a movie or reboot
I had Max Ray and about four of his weapon systems.
I got Ace McCloud for Christmas of '86. Only one weapon system (SkyKnight) played with that thing for weeks on end...

Yip,but in nz,we got it everyday after school
Sad cartoon wasn't on par. Toy-line seems decent.
