I must say, you make it out to be a lot harder than it is. Entrance exams are generally optional and Finnish Universities do accept foreign diplomas. You do have to demonstrate Finnish languages proficiency which, if you don't have proof of Finnish proficiency from a diploma, is as easy as doing a test to get a YKI certificate. As long as you know Finnish, it isn't hard to get into a Finnish degree programme.
You do have a point but i would still maintain my position. Even if Finnish universities do accept foreign high school diplomas, this is highly limited and does not apply to most diplomas outside the EU. So it is not a general rule that foreign diplomas are accepted when applying for a Finnish taught university programme. Second, saying that entrance exams are "optional" is pretty misleading. The university application system for Finnish taught programmes was changes a few years back and this means that the majority of students would be admitted to Finnish taught programmes based on their high school final diplomas. Since universities have limited spots available, this means that if your final diploma was not good enough, you would not be able to get admitted using it. This is where the entrance exam system comes in. Im not going to repeat what i said about the entrance exams in this video but to summarise, passing the Finnish language university entrance exams as a foreigner is extremely hard and also something that i would not recommend. Just passing the YKI language test is absolutely not enough to do this. So yes, you could theoretically get into a Finnish taught university programme with a foreign high school diploma. However, i would still stand behind what i said in this video because statistically speaking, it is much, much easier to get in to an English taught programme with a scholarship than getting into a Finnish taught programme (and not having to pay for tuition).

This is actually something that i have not looked into but my understanding is that unless you have dual citizenship, you cant get an exemption from the tuition. However, as i mentioned, i have not looked into this and i recommend that you contact any of the public universities in Finland to check directly from them. They will know the answer to this for sure.
The problem is that universities require to pay the tuition fees at one time before the beginning of your program, so if you don't pay you cant study (in case you don't have a scholarship), please do you have a solution?
Hey and thanks for the question. Unfortunately there is no way around this. This is indeed an issue especially if you plan to accumulate the funding for the next year by working during the previous one. This is why i advice not to do this because it is rather difficult to accumulate the necessary funds during the previous year in order to pay the tuition fee in one instalment.

Hey Rafaela and thanks for the great question! Exchange programmes never have any kind of a tuition separate tuition fees because they should be a part of your degree programme at your home university (in this case the college you are going to in the US). The way that exchange programmes work depends on the school that you are going to. Most universities and colleges around the world have a bunch of partner schools that are a part of their exchange programmes. How this works is that you apply for an exchange programme through your college's own exchange programme. So you need to start the process by figuring out how the exchange system works and whether or not your college is partnering with any schools in Finland. Does this make any sense? 😁

However, i would say that the best thing is simply to learn how to dress up properly for winter. Summers in Finland are actually quite lovely and warm. Not too hot but not too cold. Funny enough, recent years have seen an increase in tourists coming from the Middle East and e.g. central Europe because the Finnish summer is more mild than what many countries further south have. So winter is the season that you should think about. However, this is mostly a question about clothes and knowing how to dress for the weather. To be quite honest, unless you are applying for the best schools in Finland (Aalto and the University of Helsinki) people dont really care about the rankings. Also, when Finnish students apply to these two schools, they mostly apply to them because of the optics (people want to study at the best schools), not because of the rankings. In terms of student reviews, please take everything with a grain of salt and remember that people are reviewing schools based on their personal experiences that are based on a students' perspective. So i would not equate official rankings and individuals' reviews at all (the same goes to my opinions as well). However, i would still watch and read as many student reviews as you can because in my humble opinion, a student's study experience can actually be much more important than the official ranking of a school. This is because if you really, really love studying at a certain school (for whatever reason and regardless of its international rankings), you are most likely also going to do better in school. This in turn means that you are going to get better results and learn more - which in turn is directly correlated in your career. In Finland, employers do not really care where you went to school - they only care about your experience and expertise. So this means that the more you enjoy your studies, the more likely it is that you are going to do really well in your career. I hope that this makes any sense 😅

Hey Fallon and thanks for the question. You have to confirm this from the Finnish immigration service because im only 95% sure. Having said that, my understanding is that all you need is a citizenship in a EU or EEA (European economic area) country. So e.g. if you are a EU citizen but have been living in the US for the last 20 years, you should still be entitled to study in Finland for free. Hey and thanks for the great question! You are not guaranteed to get a permanent residence permit but graduating from a finnish university is a great first step towards permanent residency. Heres a bit more information about how this works: Im sure that you are aware of this but when you get admitted to study in Finland you need to apply for a _residence permit for studies_. When you get close to graduation, you can apply for two types of residence permits. If you dont have a job at the time of graduation you can apply for an extended (1 year) residence permit in order to look for a job. If you find a job within that one year period you can apply for a residence permit for work. On the other hand, if you already have a job at the time of graduation you should apply for a _residence permit application for person with a degree completed in Finland_. After working for x amount of years in Finland full-time you are able to apply for a permanent residence. Do note that each of these permits are considered individually so the information on the Finnish immigration services website is a bit vague. However, if you travel to Finland from certain countries, there is a 10-day recommended (but voluntary) quarantine that you should do. Thanks for the question. My current understanding is that there are no Bachelor's degrees in medicine taught in English in Finland. In Finland you can study medicine in the following universities: Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Oulu and Eastern Finland (Kuopio campus) and none of them offer an English taught Bachelor's degree at this point. Hey and thanks for the interesting question. May i ask what do you mean with living with parents? I would need a bit more context here to give you an answer. About teaching jobs in Finland, a general rule of thumb is that you need to have a master's degree in education from Finland in order to work as a teacher. The Finnish education system is highly regulated and has a very high standard for teachers and not only do you need to pedagogical skills to work as a teacher (either as a class or subject teacher) but you also need to speak Finnish to do so. So unless you have a prior degree in education in Finland, the answer here is no.

So based on what you said there should not be anything that would not allow you to apply for a scholarship. Scholarships are meant for all non-EU or EEA citizens who apply for a bachelor's or master's level degree in a Finnish university or university of applied sciences. There are no age restrictions and i have not heard of a single case where a scholarship would have been denied from someone because they already have a prior degree. However, do note that scholarships are always granted on a competitive basis and the limited number of scholarships means that only the best applicants are awarded with one. However, based on the fact that you have high grades and test scores and IN ADDITION the fact that you have a prior degree (this can actually be a benefit for you), i would definitely recommend you to apply to study in Finland. My understanding based on the information that the finnish immigration service has given is yes, your family can move with you after they have been granted residence permits based on family ties. There are some specific requirements for your spouse to get a residence permit. One of these requirements is that one should be able to secure their means of support without relying on any governmental support. So I want to move to Finland upon graduation, but cost is a big issue for me, because where I am in Canada, because of my grade (In our school ranking, I'm top of my grade) in addition to volunteer work on the side and student council. Im not sure what test you are referring to. Every university and university of applied science has their own application requirements and you need to at least do a language proficiency test but you might also have to do other tests as well. About the terminology, in Finland we dont use the term college or technical college. Higher education in Finland is done either at universities or at universities of applied sciences. No, there are not specific master's degrees that would make it more likely for you to get a scholarship. Also, i have to say that choosing your field based on which has the best chances to get a scholarships is in my honest opinion a bad idea. What if you find a field that might have better chances to get scholarships BUT you end up hating that field? Do you really want to study and work in a field that you hate / dont have motivation for for the rest of your life. I always tell people to apply to study subjects that they are actually interested in. Every single university in finland has a scholarships programme for degrees taught in english. Some might be more difficult to get than others but none of them are impossible. You have to accept the fact that you have to work hard as f to get a scholarship in finland. If you are not willing to put in that effort, i dont think its the right idea to apply to study in finland. This is, again, because applying to a field just because its the easiest is a very bad idea and will most likely lead you to work in a field that you have no interest in. In summary: try to find a field that you are interested in and you have motivation towards. This is because that makes you more willing to work hard for a scholarship. This is the way.

Unfortunately no unless you are a EU or EEA citizen. Studying an English taught bachelors or masters level degree in Finland is not free unless you are a citizen of a European Union or European Economic Area country.

That would depend on the school but sounds a bit unlikely. I havent checked the requirements for most MBA's in Finland so make sure to do your own research as well. Just to note - the reason i havent looked into MBA's is because doing an MBA instead of a Master's degree is quite rare. MBA's in Finland are mostly done by experienced career professionals who do not have a Master's degree but need a supplementary degree.

About jobs in shipping and logistics: naturally i cant say for sure because im not working in the field myself. However, do note that Finland is basically an nation of export and we sell most of our products abroad. So i would assume that there are plenty of opportunities in shipping and in logistics. Again, i dont have experience in the field so cant say for sure about what kind of jobs there are and how well they are paid.

I must say, you make it out to be a lot harder than it is. Entrance exams are generally optional and Finnish Universities do accept foreign diplomas. You do have to demonstrate Finnish languages proficiency which, if you don't have proof of Finnish proficiency from a diploma, is as easy as doing a test to get a YKI certificate. As long as you know Finnish, it isn't hard to get into a Finnish degree programme.
You do have a point but i would still maintain my position. Even if Finnish universities do accept foreign high school diplomas, this is highly limited and does not apply to most diplomas outside the EU. So it is not a general rule that foreign diplomas are accepted when applying for a Finnish taught university programme. Second, saying that entrance exams are "optional" is pretty misleading. The university application system for Finnish taught programmes was changes a few years back and this means that the majority of students would be admitted to Finnish taught programmes based on their high school final diplomas. Since universities have limited spots available, this means that if your final diploma was not good enough, you would not be able to get admitted using it. This is where the entrance exam system comes in. Im not going to repeat what i said about the entrance exams in this video but to summarise, passing the Finnish language university entrance exams as a foreigner is extremely hard and also something that i would not recommend. Just passing the YKI language test is absolutely not enough to do this.
So yes, you could theoretically get into a Finnish taught university programme with a foreign high school diploma. However, i would still stand behind what i said in this video because statistically speaking, it is much, much easier to get in to an English taught programme with a scholarship than getting into a Finnish taught programme (and not having to pay for tuition).

This is actually something that i have not looked into but my understanding is that unless you have dual citizenship, you cant get an exemption from the tuition. However, as i mentioned, i have not looked into this and i recommend that you contact any of the public universities in Finland to check directly from them. They will know the answer to this for sure.
The problem is that universities require to pay the tuition fees at one time before the beginning of your program, so if you don't pay you cant study (in case you don't have a scholarship), please do you have a solution?
Hey and thanks for the question. Unfortunately there is no way around this. This is indeed an issue especially if you plan to accumulate the funding for the next year by working during the previous one. This is why i advice not to do this because it is rather difficult to accumulate the necessary funds during the previous year in order to pay the tuition fee in one instalment.

Hey Rafaela and thanks for the great question! Exchange programmes never have any kind of a tuition separate tuition fees because they should be a part of your degree programme at your home university (in this case the college you are going to in the US). The way that exchange programmes work depends on the school that you are going to. Most universities and colleges around the world have a bunch of partner schools that are a part of their exchange programmes. How this works is that you apply for an exchange programme through your college's own exchange programme. So you need to start the process by figuring out how the exchange system works and whether or not your college is partnering with any schools in Finland.

However, i would say that the best thing is simply to learn how to dress up properly for winter. Summers in Finland are actually quite lovely and warm. Not too hot but not too cold. Funny enough, recent years have seen an increase in tourists coming from the Middle East and e.g. central Europe because the Finnish summer is more mild than what many countries further south have. So winter is the season that you should think about. However, this is mostly a question about clothes and knowing how to dress for the weather. Hey Khalifa and thanks again for a great question! To be quite honest, unless you are applying for the best schools in Finland (Aalto and the University of Helsinki) people dont really care about the rankings. Also, when Finnish students apply to these two schools, they mostly apply to them because of the optics (people want to study at the best schools), not because of the rankings.
In terms of student reviews, please take everything with a grain of salt and remember that people are reviewing schools based on their personal experiences that are based on a students' perspective. So i would not equate official rankings and individuals' reviews at all (the same goes to my opinions as well). However, i would still watch and read as many student reviews as you can because in my humble opinion, a student's study experience can actually be much more important than the official ranking of a school. This is because if you really, really love studying at a certain school (for whatever reason and regardless of its international rankings), you are most likely also going to do better in school. This in turn means that you are going to get better results and learn more - which in turn is directly correlated in your career. In Finland, employers do not really care where you went to school - they only care about your experience and expertise. So this means that the more you enjoy your studies, the more likely it is that you are going to do really well in your career.

Having said that, my understanding is that all you need is a citizenship in a EU or EEA (European economic area) country. So e.g. if you are a EU citizen but have been living in the US for the last 20 years, you should still be entitled to study in Finland for free.

Hey and thanks for the great question! You are not guaranteed to get a permanent residence permit but graduating from a finnish university is a great first step towards permanent residency. Heres a bit more information about how this works:
Im sure that you are aware of this but when you get admitted to study in Finland you need to apply for a _residence permit for studies_. When you get close to graduation, you can apply for two types of residence permits. If you dont have a job at the time of graduation you can apply for an extended (1 year) residence permit in order to look for a job. If you find a job within that one year period you can apply for a residence permit for work. On the other hand, if you already have a job at the time of graduation you should apply for a _residence permit application for person with a degree completed in Finland_. After working for x amount of years in Finland full-time you are able to apply for a permanent residence. Do note that each of these permits are considered individually so the information on the Finnish immigration services website is a bit vague. However, if you travel to Finland from certain countries, there is a 10-day recommended (but voluntary) quarantine that you should do. About online studies - most universities in Finland are still doing their courses remotely even if you are in Finland. We had a few covid spikes at university campuses at the beginning of september when the semester started. This caused universities to close their campuses (again). Thanks for the question. My current understanding is that there are no Bachelor's degrees in medicine taught in English in Finland. In Finland you can study medicine in the following universities: Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Oulu and Eastern Finland (Kuopio campus) and none of them offer an English taught Bachelor's degree at this point.

About teaching jobs in Finland, a general rule of thumb is that you need to have a master's degree in education from Finland in order to work as a teacher. The Finnish education system is highly regulated and has a very high standard for teachers and not only do you need to pedagogical skills to work as a teacher (either as a class or subject teacher) but you also need to speak Finnish to do so. So unless you have a prior degree in education in Finland, the answer here is no.

So based on what you said there should not be anything that would not allow you to apply for a scholarship. Scholarships are meant for all non-EU or EEA citizens who apply for a bachelor's or master's level degree in a Finnish university or university of applied sciences. There are no age restrictions and i have not heard of a single case where a scholarship would have been denied from someone because they already have a prior degree. However, do note that scholarships are always granted on a competitive basis and the limited number of scholarships means that only the best applicants are awarded with one. However, based on the fact that you have high grades and test scores and IN ADDITION the fact that you have a prior degree (this can actually be a benefit for you), i would definitely recommend you to apply to study in Finland.

There are some specific requirements for your spouse to get a residence permit. For degree programme and for technical college admissions. Is there any technical college or university they give admission with out admission test.
Im not sure what test you are referring to. Every university and university of applied science has their own application requirements and you need to at least do a language proficiency test but you might also have to do other tests as well.
About the terminology, in Finland we dont use the term college or technical college. Higher education in Finland is done either at universities or at universities of applied sciences. No, there are not specific master's degrees that would make it more likely for you to get a scholarship. Also, i have to say that choosing your field based on which has the best chances to get a scholarships is in my honest opinion a bad idea. What if you find a field that might have better chances to get scholarships BUT you end up hating that field? Do you really want to study and work in a field that you hate / dont have motivation for for the rest of your life. I always tell people to apply to study subjects that they are actually interested in. Every single university in finland has a scholarships programme for degrees taught in english. Some might be more difficult to get than others but none of them are impossible. You have to accept the fact that you have to work hard as f to get a scholarship in finland. If you are not willing to put in that effort, i dont think its the right idea to apply to study in finland. This is, again, because applying to a field just because its the easiest is a very bad idea and will most likely lead you to work in a field that you have no interest in.
In summary: try to find a field that you are interested in and you have motivation towards. This is because that makes you more willing to work hard for a scholarship. This is the way.

Can you study MBA in finland without GMAT
That would depend on the school but sounds a bit unlikely. I havent checked the requirements for most MBA's in Finland so make sure to do your own research as well. Just to note - the reason i havent looked into MBA's is because doing an MBA instead of a Master's degree is quite rare. MBA's in Finland are mostly done by experienced career professionals who do not have a Master's degree but need a supplementary degree.
