As far as I know degrees and graduations are generally accepted within EU countries... but not everything gets accepted. It could be that your degree gets accepted only by half, which means you can do additional work to let it fully recognize later on. That is because countries have often their own terms and conditions when it comes to various degrees. So in this case, you need inform yourself and ask Finnish agencies. In case you are an EU citizen, then you shouldn't have much trouble or none. (: I know a hungarian teacher, who moved to Germany. Her degree was only recognized by half and had to do some extra work (to fulfill the terms and conditions) to get her title as teacher accepted.

Hi, when you say "come to Finland with a family member", I assume you mean to get together with a family member already in Finland, or do you mean migrating with your family or a family member both coming from your native country? Thanks.
Ok but if you were to get your residence permit where do you have to go specifically in order for you to get it? Do you have to go to a Police Station or the City Hall to give one of those 6 ways and get your residence permit? If it's not a police station or the City Hall then where?

Sorry for bothering, ive watched many videos but the amount of information confuses me and give me headache. is there a simplified list somewhere of the steps i need to take to move to finland? basically what im intrested in is ive saved enough money to purchase a house there but i am living in the Netherlands and i have a ID (Not the passport).in what order do i have to prepare to come? 1. find work/ 2. register residency / 3. buy house/ 4. get Finnish ID/ 5. get Finnish bank account? i have many more questions this is how unclear it is to me
1. Apply for a right of residency registration on Enter Finland. As an EU citizen (if you're Dutch), you need only sufficient funds to support your life in Finland; you don't need a permit. 2. Book a meeting with Migri's service point. You get a Personal Identity Code during the visit. 3. Get a Finnish bank account. 4. Register residency with DVV 5. Buy a house. Getting a job is recommended tho.
@@AleksiHimself yea i will definitely get a job but is that recommended after buying a house or before? I dont want to spend too much savings on renting/hotels. Thanks for your quick reply though
Hi Aleksi. My non EU husband got his PR to work in Finland just a month ago and I am planning to get PR too. Should I get it based on the family ties? Even though he just got there for a month. Does immi need him to show atleast 6 months of payslip as a proof that he is capable to support me? Also, planning to study when I get there. Which one is better? Is it to apply based on family ties or as a student? Thanks!
Hi. I assume you mean RP = Residence Permit and not PR = Permanent Residence Permit? Yes, you husband needs to have enough income to provide for both of you. Family RP does not restrict working at all whereas student RP restricts working to 25 hours a week. migri.fi/en/moving-to-finland-to-be-with-a-family-member
Guys i need some info, where should i live when i arrive in finnland, what's better hotel/motel or apartment and how much money do i need to settle in?
Hi Alex, In a few years I will retire and wish to come to Finland. From the official information I see, coming to Finland while retired is *not* one of the options. You have to either have commitsments (family in Finland, or a job, or something like that), or you are an expat (whatever that means). So the question is: if you have no previous ties to Finland, but you do have enough income, will Finland grant you a residence permit? P.S. I live in EU.

How to move to Finland. In summer 2013, Rotenberg's family and Gennady Timchenko bought the company Arena Events Oy, which owns the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki. The arena has a capacity of 13,000 guests. In the autumn of that year, they purchased 49% of Jokerit Helsinki ice hockey club,[25] which was joining the KHL in the 2014/2015 season. In October 2014, Roman Rotenberg bought out the parts which his father and uncle owned in the deal.[26] They were both on the USA's sanctions list.[26] The Langvik Capital company, which is made up of the Långvik hotel and business hall in Kirkkonummi, not far away from Helsinki, acted as the intermediary. Roman Rotenberg also owns the Langvik Capital company. Arena Events Oy shares are divided out as follows: Langvik Capital - 49.5%, Roman Rotenberg 1%, White Anchor (Gennady Timchenko) - 49.5%.

I live in USA and I’m citizen , I have 2 kids and the life here is getting harder and I want a change and Finland looks a great place foe me and specially for my kids, what is the first step to do to start to move ?
As a father of 2 kids as well who lives in Helsinki, Finland is great for place for raising kids. Finland wasn't chosen as happiest place to live in the world by UN "World Happiness Report" for last two years without a reason. Happiness doesn't mean people are smiling, basically it means that how easily everyone in country can achieve good things in life. We have good safety nets and here like these and more - 5 weeks yearly paid vacation - You get severance pay usually 3 and up to 6 months of salary if you are kicked out of a job. - Free school and actually good public schools - Almost free medical care - 577€ yearly prescription medicine cap. It means that if you have to pay more than 577€ in a year for prescription medicine government pays the rest. Also medicine is already lot cheaper compared to USA. This is very important for people who have some chronic health problem so they don't go bankrupt. - 2-3 year old's get free kindergarten 2 and a half hours, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. At least here in Helsinki. - Child care is cheap and cost is scaled by family's combined salary. it means people who get less many pay less. - Social security, not sure how this compares to USA, but it bet it's lot better here. - Mothers get 9 month paid (about equal to salary) maternity leave, possibility to stay hope up 3 years per child and if mother gets back they and do shorted days for a while. Helsinki public transport was chosen as second best in Europe after Geneva. That means having a car here is not mandatory and that saves lot of money. You can manage just with English in Helsinki area at least. But in some jobs will have mandatory Finnish language requirements. Example IT has has some jobs that don't require to speak Finnish. Finnish might be feel like it's difficult to learn because it doesn't belong to Indo-European languages like lot of languages do and can feel quite alien for English speaker. But learning Finnish will open lot more job possibilities. But there are things that are easy in Finnish - When you know how to pronounce Finnish alphabets you will know how to pronounce any written word. No spelling bee here. - There are no silent letters - Weight of the word is always in front of the word - Finnish is gender neutral, so no "he" or "she" there is only "hän". "se" that means "it" is used sometimes in place of "hän" in spoken Finnish It use to be free to study in Finland for people outside of EU. But not anymore, but I'm still quite sure if someone wants to go hardcore and study using Finnish language here then studying is still free for international student. About summers and winters here, these can be hard for some people. Summer because there is so much light, middle of summer sun comes up at 3:54 AM and goes down at 10:50 PM. Winter can be very dark and middle of winter sun comes up at 9:25 AM and goes down at 3:14 PM. But I think summers are great here because there is so much light and they are not too hot also Finland is country has most lakes in the world. Winter can be great when there is snow, but this year winter kind of skipped Helsinki and other southern parts of Finland, probably climate change. But because of ice age Finland sea level rising all time so we don't have really have to afraid of rising sea level due to climate change here.
Great information , please how about people who has permanent residency in another EU country ? If the come to Finland for more than 90 days ? What they should do ?

@@cruentorum9509 the point is that if you hold a EU passport, you don't need a residence permit. You just need to register your residency.

I’m so tired of Sweden, the pandemic was when I seriously began consider this.
Very thankful for serious replies!
Would it count as remigration for me? My mother is Finnish but born in Sweden, but her parents were born in Finland. My grandfather fought in the winter war during ww2 btw (my hero!)
@@e30clew You don't need a residence permit because Sweden is a EU country.
I think you just need to move to Finland, life here is long enough prove your Finnish or Swedish skills and the apply.
Hi, when you say "come to Finland with a family member", I assume you mean to get together with a family member already in Finland, or do you mean migrating with your family or a family member both coming from your native country? Thanks.
It can mean both.

4. Register residency with DVV
5. Buy a house.
Getting a job is recommended tho.
@@AleksiHimself yea i will definitely get a job but is that recommended after buying a house or before? I dont want to spend too much savings on renting/hotels.
Thanks for your quick reply though
@@damien523 depends on how much money you have. Finland is not a cheap country so might be better to get a job first.

If you have a EU passport, you don't really need a reason as long as you can financially support yourself. That's the point of free movement in EU.
@@AleksiHimself I know I can move there, but ..... can I get a long-term residence permit? If I cannot, then probably many facilities are not open to me. Do you know?

What I would do is to get familiar with the labor market to find out how good chances I'd have to find a job.
We have good safety nets and here like these and more
- 5 weeks yearly paid vacation
- You get severance pay usually 3 and up to 6 months of salary if you are kicked out of a job.
- Free school and actually good public schools
- Almost free medical care
- 577€ yearly prescription medicine cap.
But there are things that are easy in Finnish
- When you know how to pronounce Finnish alphabets you will know how to pronounce any written word. No spelling bee here.
- There are no silent letters
- Weight of the word is always in front of the word
- Finnish is gender neutral, so no "he" or "she" there is only "hän". "se" that means "it" is used sometimes in place of "hän" in spoken Finnish
It use to be free to study in Finland for people outside of EU.
