Good evening Carrie, Dave & Roodle ! Thank you for sharing a piece of your childhood ! It's such a beautiful area ! It's so amazing how you can go to certain treasured places & relive so many cherished memories ! Keep up the wonderful work & keep smiling !
Beautiful. I feel way more safe outside in the wild than in my own house. Fresh air is key for a healthy mind and nature for the soul. Stay safe out there you guys.
We already miss camping at Ash Creek ..even though it's under 2 feet of snow now. 😂 I agree about the fresh air and we are already thinking about our next boondocking location. 😀
You both are beautiful souls ...Carrie you were glowing when you were talking with your mom you could see the pure happiness radiating from your soul....such a beautiful place..a lovely momma I would give anything to have my momma still!! I love how real you guys are...thank you for the superior videos the footage the edits you 2 are so special Blessings on your Journey!!! Carrie glad you had time to have those special memories ..it showed ..you glowed!!! looked absolutely beautiful!!
We had a great time revisiting memories and spending time with Carries mom! Carrie is currently edit videos and working on a portrait shoot.I will relay your kind words next time she takes a break. We both have good memories from that place and shared a couple of Christmas holidays there back when we were teenagers. Take care and have a great day. 😀
Beautiful shots of nice places. Nice couple - and dog. Thank you for producing this video - and the tip of the campfire permit!!! Something else to consider! Just beautiful scenery - it's so different from New England...
Thanks for the walk down memory lane! I worked for the USFS, Big Valley RD many years ago! I've camped at the same place along Ash Creek! Enjoy your videos!
Super cool! I have a friend that grew up in that area named Mike Meeink. That stretch of ash creek is our favorite happy to hear you enjoyed it also. Take care and stay safe.
Wonderful video. After viewing it we realized we would be very close on our next trip. We stayed the night along Ash Creek in a 24 foot trailer. We had the area to ourselves even on a Saturday evening. Thank you for your videos!
Another wonderful video! Cool to meet your Mum too. What an awesome place to grow up. Can definitely see your love for animals and nature now! Stay safe guys....and gorgeous Roodle too of course! 🚐🙏😍👍
I just wish we would have been up there the last couple of days. It got 2 feet of snow and we missed it. We keep hoping to get caught in a big snowstorm. Take care and stay safe.
I’m a native Californian and I am so happy you shared this gem of a post. I can’t wait to make my way to these destinations. Looks pretty secluded. I don’t travel in caravans, I enjoy solitude and I absolutely love being around trees and water. As a solo traveler I’m always concerned about my safety but more and more I find places like this, wonderful roads less traveled, seem the safest. I just love your beautiful, skilled and thought provoking content; keep up the wonderful work 🙏. MaryAnn
Thank you for all your kind words! You would definitely like most of the places we visit. We agree these off the beaten path places are the best and safest
Love how you show the clear map of where you are going or have gone! 😁 Wow, what a place to grow up! Love the beautiful drone foootage! Talk about paradise - what a beautiful boondocking spot!! California sure has some beautiful woods! 😁
I love maps! So fun to share these locations and fly the drone on them. I never get tired of watching snowflakes float gently to the ground. Take care and stay safe.
@@oneadVANtureatatime We are seriously thinking about getting a drone. I agree about the snow but 5 months is more than enough for me! LOL You guys stay safe as well!!
Wow what a great spot location. I enjoy every single video you guys create but this one was exceptional. Your music selection to the amazing videography just keeps getting better. At 14:19 when you show the juxtaposition between Carey walking on the log and then Roodle was genius 🤓. As always stay safe and happy travels🚐🐶👫🏻PS still loving the Mohawk
We are sitting at my brother's house right now and I just read your comment out loud to the family. You are kind and amazing. We are so thankful you are following our journey. Thank you for the encouragement that helps motivate us to continue on. Take care and stay safe.
We are visiting my brother now and we took his truck up in the snow and got stuck! I had the most fun getting it out. I am glad you enjoyed the river drone video. I loving flying the drone in the snow. Take care and stay safe. 😀
We just camped at the same spot as in your video, just after the one lane bridge. Thank you for video. Otherwise we would not have known about this place. It was just after July 4th and the temps were 100F+.
Another great video. Roodle did a great job crossing the stream. This vid makes it seem like life is going to be okay. Thanks guys. I'm proud of you two.
This was one of the coolest vanlifer video have watched so far and I have been watching A LOT of them lately. You give a lot of good info, this place was amazing, beautiful videography and you both seems like really nice people 👌Oh and I am a dog lover too 🐕🥰 This video, your channel, just came up on my feed. I will be catching up on your past adventures for sure. Thank you 🙏🚐
We are happy you found our channel! We have nearly 300 videos out and have been on the road for 4 years now. We love to showcase our free camping locations and leave coordinates in the description if you want to visit for yourself. Roodle is the star of our show. He has his own Instagram, calendar, and theme song! 😂😂 Nice to meet you and we hope you enjoy our channel. 👱♂️👩🐕🎾
Thank you so much for subscribing. We only free camp and love the remote off the beaten path locations. We hope you will enjoy. Take care and stay safe.
Lovely place for boondocking. Only 5h from my home. I will check it out! What are the reasons you chose Falken Wildpeak AT3W All Terrain tires (beside price tag) versus other tires such as General Grabber A/TX tire or the BFG KO2 ? Also did you lift your van for theses tires? :)
We wanted an all-terrain tire that is snow rated. I checked out how people rated these and thought for the price they were rated pretty high. Also we noticed Walmart sells these so we could get warranty work or replacements anywhere around the country. They also sell these tires on Amazon. The general grabber looks like a decent tire as well for the price I just have not done as much research on it yet. I will note that availability of the warranty is important. Example is that Les Schwap tire shops are just on the west coast of the USA so that might not be very useful. 😀
Neat to learn a bit about you, Carrie. Ty. Good job on that log, Rood dude. Thanks for showing it green too. Have you done a video there in the summer guys? I'm in Ventura. Cheers. @one adVANture at a time
Been subscribed since Nova Scotia and this is one of your better vids, must be the home court advantage! Nice van shot from across the river and the drone shot in the falling snow.
Thank you so much for the kind words! The snow falling makes me feel so relaxed. Every change I can get the drone up in the snow I will jump at the opportunity. Thank you for following our journey and leaving nice comments like this.Take care and safe travels.
Thank you Edith! We are having fun showing of these remote and out of the way locations. Carrie keeps getting better at putting the videos together. Take care and stay safe.
Another great spot. I know you guys need cell coverage to work but that's what BJ and I love is the remoteness.Like your mom said no neighbors. HAPPY TRAILS
We hope someday to buy some cheap remote land that we can call home base. So nice to listen to nature and not the sounds of car traffic. I hope you are doing well and staying warm. Take care and stay safe.
Wow! How very cool that Carrie is from the area where I am. I live in Janesville, and I work (part time) for the ambulance company in Adin. And know this area very good! So cool.
Thank you for sharing such a lovely and intimate story - and for sharing a truly special location. I just hope it doesn't become overrun in all this vanlife/rv craze. Love watching your down to earth adventures. Thank you for taking us along!
We are hoping a few vanlifers come for a visit. We are almost always the only people here when we visit. Maybe it's because the nearest coffee shop is 60 miles away 😂 Take care and happy travels.
@@oneadVANtureatatime I'd be down to do that! I'm supposed to fly up to Seattle to await the arrival of my first granddaughter in 2 1/2 weeks but it's looking like state line travels by plane, bus, car, or rv may also be cut off....while that breaks my heart to not be there, might as well explore (responsibly) my own backyard. If you guys get down to the Joshua Tree area, you are most welcome to boondock at my place.
Diana Sorry you won't be able to make it up to Seattle, sounds like you have a good attitude about it.😀 We will take you up on the boondocking offer if we are in that area and the timing works out. Thank you so much. Take care and have fun exploring.
Thank you for sharing and it's always nice go back where you grew up and look a thing it was nice to meet your mom and always the scenery is beautiful just food for thought when you're hiking in a remote area satellite GPS tracker I know they're expensive I've had an emergency without cell reception somebody could always get to you thanks so much for the journey
GPS tracker is a good idea! I hoping they will go down in price but we will keep our eyes out. Our van does have a Gps tracker on it but it's not portable. Take care and stay safe.
This video brought back my child hood memories going camping every weekend so now it's natural to me. I miss the wildlife and the small town vibe. Good video.
We love the small-town vibe as well. I just can't take the fast pace of cities..everyone being in a hurry and nobody having time for each other. Take care and stay safe.
Welcome to our channel! You picked a great video to start with. This is the area Carrie and I met 33 years ago and will always feel like home. If you have questions please ask. We love to share what we are learning doing this amazing lifestyle. 👱♂️👩🐕🎾
Awesome as always. I’m not sure this Florida boy could handle the cold! 20 below for me is 50 degrees because we start at 70, not zero! At least where you guys are you have plenty of leaves! We can’t get toilet paper here on our island!!😆
Too funny! Those leaves are now covered by 18 inches of snow. I wish we would have still been there but we moved on and missed it. I will admit that moist cold you get in the east is way more penetration than our dry cold. I thought it was too hot in Florida during the winter for me. 😂
What a nice place to have grown up in, I know you had lots of fun and activities as a child. My kind of living, surrounded with lots of land. Your video was so peaceful I almost fail asleep. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.#🇺🇸ADOS
Thank you for the kind words! I love to watch the snow gently fall from the sky and cover the ground with a clean fresh coat. Take care and safe travels.
Enjoy your video. I wait for each Sunday and you rarely let us down. The personal connection in today's video was quite interesting. How come your family ended up homesteading so far from civilization.
+Public Interest thank you! I was born in Sacramento, California....although not a huge city my parents were tired of city life and they knew someone in this area. It is very remote! I asked my mom the same question😂 I appreciate this area much more as an adult.
Love your videos. Your style of travel and destinations are right up my alley. I know so many wilderness free camping locations in Canada but none really in the USA. I am making a list of travel destinations that you've shared that I would like to visit. Thank you for sharing with so much detail and easy to follow information.
We are hoping to spend next summer up in the Canadian Rockies so we need your advice 😀 We love the remote off the beaten pass locations best and hope not to pay for camping...ever! 😀 We are excited you like our videos and hope we see you at one of our favorite camps. Take care and stay safe.
Oh gosh! I am so looking forward to meeting you two and Roodle. I would be more than happy to share some of my most favorite off the beaten path gems. Like the US the Canadian Parks i.e. Banf and Jasper restrict where dogs can wander. However, there are so many off the beaten trail places to camp, hike, bike and explore in the mountains and along the coast of BC.
Back in the day Eric Estradas post CHIP's gig was selling home plots (California Pines) on TV. Somewhere west of Alturas, probably not too far from your beloved Ash Creek.
Yep, real BFE out there. Been to Cal Pines many times and the Termo Valley, but never there. Ever been to the Crowder Flat area west of Goose Lake? Real cool in the spring.
YES! Termo Valley is where I (carrie) grew up. Well, closer to Madeline, but yes very remote. Dave used to live in oregon so he is more familiar with Goose lake.
Wow, what a fantastic video. I loved every minute of it! Seeing the homestead and mom, how very very special. What a wonderful place to grow up! Carrie with those trees, that is exactly something I would do. haha. Snow sparkles are gorgeous. Well Dave you at least got to experience a little bit of snow! Love the hair by the way. How long did it take you to cut up those trees? hehe. The drone shots and music. Excellent! Great job guys. Looking forward to the next one!
My brother Robert just gifted us a new hack saw! That folding saw is done 😂 We moved on from that camp and it just got dumped on with snow! Maybe next time will catch a big storm. I never get tired of watching the snow gently float to the ground. We hope you're having a great day and we are so happy you enjoy our channel. Stay safe and take care.
I know space is limited but a little electric chain saw might be worth the space if you are gathering and cutting your own firewood often. Have a great week you 3!
one adVANture at a time it’s good to have in case a big tree falls behind you blocking your route out and you don’t have cell service. Would suck to handsaw a huge tree out of the road. Good reason to have a winch too.
Alex Burke Alex you think the same way I do 😀 We also carry a full-size ax and tow straps for that exact reason. I would love to have a winch as well. Take care and safe travels to you.
Worked in that country for 5 years around Aiden beiber and lookout.use to bid forestry contracts. Piled slash and removed stumps. Grandmother lived in alturas.
I bet if you were at this spot this morning, 03/15/20, you would have all the snow you could handle. Beautiful spot. One of those places you would likely stay if you had an endless supply chain?
We were just saying we wish we were still there because of this big storm. I feel like we missed out.😂 I am guessing there is over a foot of snow there now. Take care Mike 😀
+Fishing, Gaming & Guitars no ufo’s or Bigfoot..... not even a bear... lol! We did have a strange human experience in Utah where someone was driving a motorcycle In the middle of the night without headlight on around the van. We left that spot and drove to another.
You can get the fire permit online and download the pdf to your phone. Much quicker than finding a ranger station. For those who don't know: you also need the fire permit for propane stoves, so just get one, it's free and literally 5 questions (you watch a 2 min video and then answer a few questions and that's it). I think they mostly do it because you sign that you're liable for your fires.
You guys are awesome. The photography is PBS quality. I can dream of being somewhere like that...but I'm lazy so can I watch you. Thanks 😊 and stay c safe use gloves and sanitizer when getting gas/fuel. Wow you grew up in the wilderness?
Thanks for sharing your home place, nice to meet your mother. Did you carry anything for protection from the preditors, like bears or bobcats, while hiking, like bear spray? Thanks again.
Yes we do, Carrie has bear spray and I carry a rather large knife. We have been backpacking all of our lives and never had a problem. But you just never know. Like the Coast Guard motto, Semper Paratus(always ready).Take care and stay safe.😀
It's so very beautiful there. I loved seeing your childhood home and meeting your mom. So neat. 🙂

Amazing area. Thanks for the tip about getting a campfire permit. I really need to get one.
Thank you for watching. Happy and safe travels to you. 😀
Your choices for music are very interesting.
Thank you.😀
Back in the day Eric Estradas post CHIP's gig was selling home plots (California Pines) on TV.
Thanks for a great video,! You both seem very nice and helpful!
Thank you for watching and your kindness. Take care and be safe.
WOW!!! Excellent job on the video!!!
Thank you for your kindness! I love making these boondocking videos and sharing these locations.Take care and stay safe.
Wow what a place/good looking rig/happy trials
This is one of our favorite boondocking places. Thank you for your kindness. Take care.
I've actually considered an electric chainsaw! My brother just gifted me a bow saw so Iam retiring that old folding saw 😂
one adVANture at a time it’s good to have in case a big tree falls behind you blocking your route out and you don’t have cell service.
Very cool! We went to high school in Alturas. That area is in my blood now, I love high desert.Take care and have a good night.
Been wanting to get back up that way, to many years have past.
Great video guys. After watching you cut that log I think I have something in the shed you might want.
Thank you for the new hand saw! It will see plenty of use. Now can you turn down the wood stove? It's hot in here 😂
Nice to be on nature.Tks
I love watching the snow gently fall to the ground and cover the ground with a clean fresh coat. Take care and thank you for watching.
Loved every moment. Stay safe and healthy 😎
Thank you! We just missed a huge snowstorm there 😢 Take care and stay safe.
I was there yesterday,They do have a porta poddy there now
I love Dave’s haircut!
Thank you Linda! Sure makes it easy to keep my hair clean.😎
Love the channel! You guys ever have any strange experiences out in the boonies during your travels? Weird lights, strange noises, etc.?
+Fishing, Gaming & Guitars no ufo’s or Bigfoot..... not even a bear... lol!
We did have a strange human experience in Utah where someone was driving a motorcycle In the middle of the night without headlight on around the van. We left that spot and drove to another.
@@oneadVANtureatatime I would have left too! No sense in taking chances - go with your gut.
Just subbed to your channel, beautiful scenery!
Welcome to our channel! If you have any questions please ask we love to be helpful. Take care and have a good night.
BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY 🌹♥️🕊
Now on my list of places to visit
Awesome, It is under a foot or two of snow today so definitely plan for spring or summer. 😎
We are buying 20 acres in Madeline because it is so beautiful and peaceful out there. We are almost neighbors with your old childhood home!
Very cool! Where did you buy?
@@oneadVANtureatatime Madeline California. We watched someone's travel video (Kyle) and fell in love with the whole area.
Another nice video. Looks like the ProMaster made it thru the mud!
No troubles at all. I would have liked to see more snow and put the Promaster to the test 😀Take care and stay safe.
Beautiful video. Beautiful area. Now that's what I call social distancing.
Yes it is 😀 This is one of our top favorite spots on the planet. Take care.
amazing story. thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching. 😀
Wow you guys are in a very remote area love the video be safe and keep a eye out for bigfoot.
I know right! We did follow some giant mountain lion tracks.😀
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching, Joseph. This is the area we are both from and love dearly. 😀
New subscriber here! Beautiful scenery!👍
Thank you so much for subscribing! We hope you will enjoy our style of remote boondocking and Van Life. We hope you have a fantastic day. 😀
12:28 Love the fire and snow.
Thank you! We usually don't build fires but we could not resist the opportunity in the snow. Take care and stay safe.
Thank you for sharing the easy way to get a free fire permit. Very much appreciated! Take care and keep the valuable comments coming.
Wow you had a wonderful childhood!
We really did. Thank you for watching, take good care.
Adin seems like an interesting town. Stumbled upon it while map surfing northern California on Google Maps.
Beautiful area! They had some REALLY BIG fires there this summer! Not sure if my favorite spot survived😕
Nice video...thank you for the informaion.
Thank you for watching Rick! Take care and have a fantastic day.
Simply awsome as usual 😎
Thank you very much. We hope you're having a good day. Take care and stay safe.
Wonderful place to grow up!!
It really was. So many things to learn and do outside. Even now I find the place peaceful and quiet. Take care and stay safe
We are familiar with sagebrush, Bray has plenty, north of Adin, ca. Neat
Videos.
Thank you, we appreciate you watching our video.
You guys are awesome. The photography is PBS quality. I can dream of being somewhere like that...but I'm lazy so can I watch you. Thanks 😊 and stay c safe use gloves and sanitizer when getting gas/fuel. Wow you grew up in the wilderness?
Carrie really did grow up in the wilderness 😀 Thank you for your kind words and safety tips. Take care and have a good night.
Beautilful place. Wondering about the GPS coordinates? thank you
Thanks for sharing your home place, nice to meet your mother.
