Doodle Doodle! Off season, small crowds or no crowd is perfect. Would be totally cool to meet a Roodle Doodle, Carey, Dave and Advanture Van along the trail!
I found that some of the best free camping is in Summer Home Tract areas also known as "The Cabins Program". They're permitted cabins on forest service land. The permit holders only own the structures such as cabins, decks, docks, outhouses and wood sheds. All roads and driveways in the tract area are public. These cabins are usually found at lakes and rivers with amazing views! I usually pick my site based on vacancy. As long as you don't enter any of the privately owned improvements you are well within your right to be in public. There's 14,000 of these cabins spread mostly in the west.
Paul, this is awesome information! We appreciate the tip. We have thought about doing something like this in a winter wonderland type setting. Thank you.
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing this info. Always willing to pay what I can and contribute in a positive way. How awesome is this to have all these amenities for $5.
Excellent info, thank you so much for sharing! I SO can't wait for the Canada-USA border to open (safely) so I can explore your beautiful country as a vanlifer in 2021. You guys deserve more views! I'm going to share this to my FB pages. Hugs from Canada.
+Elizabeth L thank you so much! We cannot wait to explore more of Canada 🇨🇦 maybe we can meet along the way as you will be headed south and we will be headed north😂 once the borders open again!
@@oneadVANtureatatime Western Canada is gorgeous! And I think that would be great! Let's hope 2021 finds us in a better situation COVID-wise than this year has :-)
New sub 😃 I’m a solo nomad and boondocking is my first choice. My first experience was by the Snake river near Idaho Falls. I was in love! Thanks for the info!
Thank you for sharing all of this information, and explaining it so thoroughly! Finding boondocking sights takes a lot of time and research, and you are so kind to share what you’ve learned.
Nice video. I use to go to local Forest Service office to get maps of dispersed camping..2020 had to call office and they mailed Free maps. I've seen you do campground clean up as you arrive..shame on people that don't take their trash with them. Dispersed camping far better than paid campground. Be safe 🏕 I live in Oregon. Not much dispersed camping on coast..tons of dispersed camping along Hwy 97 as well as eastern Oregon.
Free Camping on the Oregon coast is pretty much a thing of the past.... unfortunately! We LOVE eastern Oregon. Good tip about calling and getting free maps. Most offices have been closed to the public this last year we have noticed.

We sure appreciate the free camping and don’t mind doing a bit of clean up to help keep it open. I think as time goes on many of these places will be gated off or charge a fee.
Love your posts. They are very informative. You do a great job. I was wondering what time of year you were in the Stanley area. I noticed you posted this in November so I'm thinking you were there around October but was hoping you might be able to tell me the dates. We have visited the Stanley area and loved it. So pretty. Thanks.
Years of hiking and wheeling in the national forests and I never paid attention to most of those signs. This video was an eye opener. Thanks for posting this its information that will be greatly appreciated in a few months. How is the vans suspension holding up with all the dirt road miles on it? Great drone footage 👏. The curse of your channel growing is more comments 😁
The Vans suspension is not holding up😂 I want to try the Sumo bump stops in the rear and a new set off heavy duty shocks in the front as soon as we can afford some.
@@oneadVANtureatatime thats not good, I hope that helps. I just added a rear swaybar that has helped a lot. I added rear airbags but haven't used them yet. I watch the places you go and wonder what my van would think about it. I think once I'm on the road I will wish I went with a shorter box and a lower roof, 😱
How were these campgrounds (as well as your boondocking area) for Class A motorhomes? Our RV is just over 35-feet, but we're looking to maybe do more boondocking to get away from our home in Boise. Thanks. Enjoy the videos!
Hi Diane! We appreciate you passing our channel on. We love to be helpful and answer any questions we can. We can even set up a phone call if there are two many questions to text. 😃
+VanpeDiem not sure about Stanley specifically.... that is a good question! Maybe I can find out for future reference😃... we found a off-season campground in Wyoming on September 15th. Usually we find off-season anytime between October and June.... varying from location to location.
You can look at the Forest Service pages for the campgrounds that were listed to get a general idea. In the Stanley area, the campgrounds use mid to late-September to mark the start of the off-season. Hope that helps a little.
Water has been more of a challenge than usual. We found a friendly gas station twice and had to pay 5 dollars at an RV Park. They had to turn the water back on just for us. We have been filtering stream water to stretch out our fill ups. Our van is completely winter ready. 😀
Is this something that happens in this area or is this happen all over the country? We live near Gatlinburg Tn and we are finding the only way to camp out is to make reservations. As Rvs are you know how cheap we are but I like your type of camping! You suggested using IOverlander but you also stated using the Delorme Gazeteer . How???
