    I found that some of the best free camping is in Summer Home Tract areas also known as "The Cabins Program". They're permitted cabins on forest service land. The permit holders only own the structures such as cabins, decks, docks, outhouses and wood sheds. All roads and driveways in the tract area are public. These cabins are usually found at lakes and rivers with amazing views! I usually pick my site based on vacancy. As long as you don't enter any of the privately owned improvements you are well within your right to be in public. There's 14,000 of these cabins spread mostly in the west.

    Nice video. I use to go to local Forest Service office to get maps of dispersed camping..2020 had to call office and they mailed Free maps. I've seen you do campground clean up as you arrive..shame on people that don't take their trash with them. Dispersed camping far better than paid campground. Be safe 🏕 I live in Oregon. Not much dispersed camping on coast..tons of dispersed camping along Hwy 97 as well as eastern Oregon.

    • @oneadVANtureatatime

      Our favorite app’s are FreeRoam, iOverlander, boondocking, and just looking for public lands. Sometimes we search on the web for “ The best free camping” in the state we are currently in. Also we learn hidden spots from just talking to locals. As a back up we use harvest host and Boondockers welcome as we head East. 😀

    Thanks for the GPS #ers it was much faster to find the exact spots. Scouting youtube videos of the area I found some nice trout streams too not far away! On google earth you can place over a bigger area that has lots of cool things to do and see. I have done this for wind river, the Sawtooth range, Snowy Range, the area outside Glazier National park and ALL the lakes around Grand Mesa Co.

      Great question Chris! I am a lot softer spoken than Carrie. When I wear it we are closer to even on the audio 😀

    Are those signs in all states, on BLM land and national forests?

      @oneadVANtureatatime  4 года назад +1

      +pelletized we have seen these type of signs all across the United States! They may change slightly but pretty much the same!

    Frankly they do not want people to use free camp grounds.

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  4 года назад

      I can see that! We figure if we take a few minutes to clean up then they will not mind the free campers so much😀

    Ask a few rangers not just one. Can I camp in a paid national forest campground for free if one of the amenities is out of service? That $5 site that had the water shut off, guess what? free

      @@oneadVANtureatatime just a heads up. I had a Consesionaire camp host put a pay envelope on my vehicle. I just wrote on it that I will happily pay when the water is turned back on. They left me alone after that.
