I played this sport as a teen. And I must tell you.. the amount of training we did was insane. They used to make us do cartwheel kicks in a pool so that our kicks would be more stronger while in air. Sadly.. in my country (Philippines) I only got to be in a Provincial Team as a striker. Needless to say, the game is very interesting and I loved it. (If you are wondering, yeah, I learned to do those cartwheel kicks, though I also had to land on my back and head a couple of times.)

There's an easy explanation to this. The net is about 1.5m from the ground and the size of the court is slightly smaller than a badminton court. And since the game doesn't permit the use of hand (except at the start of a serve), bicycle kicks are the main source of points for players. No other way to do it.

I played this game since my childhood..although I played as a feeder..the guy that played on the left spot of the court..I can do those moved to killed the ball to get points that the guy who played on the right side of the court..the killer..usually do..It's a game that's very taxing on the one's stamina and one's nerves especially during a hard fought game..u'll get a weak knees or rattled nerves during such a game..u can try it if u don't believe me 😀
I remember playing it in grade school as part of the training in the Philippines Football Youth Development program. We didn't do the bicycle kicks, we couldn't lol. The older kid strikers could do a jumping volley when the net height was in the range. The net was played at different heights all the way to tennis height to practice ball control from volleys and volleying. Half volleys allowed for the younger kids. We used both the rattan balls and different sized footballs. More fun than standing in a circle playing keepie-uppie or standing in lines passing headers lol.
