    Thanks for the great video! I prefer the older model given its subdial/dial proportion is closer to the original design. The newer model looks more modern and impactful but deviates more from the vintage design.
    In summary, changes mentioned include:
    1. Bigger and deeper subdials with more pronounced concentric rings
    2. Date window position
    3. Logo
    4. Text
    5. 3 6 9 position indices and lume
    6. Tip of the chrono hand does not have the arrow
    7. Strap taper
    8. Bezel edge is smoother
    9. Crown and pushers are bigger with shape change
    10. Rotor shape change
    11. Dimensions slightly change (mostly -0.5mm thickness)
    12. Case sides are brushed
    Changes missed but I can tell include:
    13. The tachymeter was removed!! This is why the dial has more real estate to make other elements bigger
    14. The white ring of the slide ruler is flatter. The older model sinks in deeper, give the dial more depth overall
    15. Crystal is more domed on the new model
    16. All hour indices are actually slightly bigger on the new model, the 12 o'clock being the most obvious
    17. Chrono hand counter weight changed from a B+anchor logo to straight

      Err… also one has a sapphire display caseback and the other a temperature conversion on a solid case back. This way when your watch fills with water you don’t have to shake it to find out. Really needs 100m. Yeah, if your plane is taking a swim your wrist watch is the least of your problems but you might stick it on a bracelet and jump in the pool or lake one day and think, oh sheeit!

    • @bobbydazzler1780

    I think I do prefer the old navitimer here and am actually looking to purchase that exact 43mm model in this video as my first luxury watch. Hoping to have enough saved up by the end of the summer and you can get more of a discount on the old one. Also not having the tachymeter scale is a big turn off. I do like the exhibition caseback though.

    • @TheCameltotem

      Well this is really not the old navitimer. Its the one with the B logo. The gold wing logo is even older and finding new ones is really hard so hurry up.

      Same for me. I prefer the old one, specially stage leather strap which is ticker. On the new one strap is too thin and looks cheap. The sub-dials are also to big on the new one in my opinion.

    I love the cleaner, more legible look of the new model, it's more suitable for actual cockpit use. Getting rid of the tachymeter scale allows for the significantly larger subdials. Black pointers vice highly polished ones was a good change too, although a rather obvious one. I also like the less shiny, dual finished case. It seems like Breitling met with some pilots who use Navitimers to discuss design improvements. They pretty much nailed it. After watching your informative video, I will say that if I was a pilot who wears a Navitimer inflight, I would exchange my older 41mm model (the one with the "B" logo) for the new one in a heartbeat. Thanks.

    • @tyronevanwyk3652
      @tyronevanwyk3652 2 года назад

      Also love the new model. I have 3 Navis. A 70’s 806, which to me looks very close to the newer ones including the flat appearing outer ring. A shiny blue 2017 model which I love and a 1461 with a silver face. This last one is way too big and heavy in general but my most complex watch so it stays. Love the new straps too. I really like the 41 in green. Just a little too expensive imo

    • @tyronevanwyk3652
      @tyronevanwyk3652 2 года назад

      Wanted to add that I am a pilot and I dont think anyone really use a slide rule in a plane anymore. You will certainly be lost somewhere in complex airspace with that. Garmin is much more helpful but in a pinch you can calculate stuff if you dont have a real E6B and no instruments works, meaning it is anyway time to find a runway and stay put.

  • @rennsport8
    @rennsport8 22 дня назад +1

    At first I disliked the newer one because of the changes that removed some of the classical Breitling DNA, but after seeing them both on wrist I actually prefer the new one. The logo on the old one looks better if you look at it on it's own, but the logo on the new one is actually more proportional and more appeasing to the eyes, same as the subdials which are bigger and look more proportional to the watch. Overall the new one looks like much more cleaner and well thought out version compared to the old one. I do hate the fact that they removed the B anchor from the bottom of the chrono hand but I must admit it has made the watch look more sleek and cleaner.

    Not sure it seems a 50:50 split between the design differences. At least some sort of wings have returned but it’s almost as if the previous fully Breitling branded piece has been dumbed down to the point where you have to double take to see it’s a Breitling. Both have their appeal but the gold B-wings, three register slide rule, sloped dial and little B-anchor on the seconds hand is hard to beat for pure Breitling DNA. The new colours are really the new introduction maybe all a case of going from a cockpit tool watch to champagne in the members only departure lounge? Maybe Navitimers loom too vintage and something Dad would year for a younger trendier crowd and therefore sat on shelves so the new releases are jumping up and down in ice blue and mint green “hey look at us we’re cool!” - I guess watch companies needs to refresh and modernise their lines to stimulate sales.

    i can see most fans wouldnt like it becos the changes basically took away a lot of major characters and it is no longer "the navitimer". But to be fair i can see that they have put a lot of effort on adjusting every single detail on the dial. it appears in a much better proportion and modern way. They are brave enough to replace the full polished link and case, thats also gonna trigger a lot of fans but i personally think it is a good move, many brands like breguet have moved away from full polished exterior since long time ago. I appreciate such a big step breitling have taken and this will be remarkable in the navitimer history when we look back many years later

      I’d like to know too. What’s interesting to me is the “B-wing” in the video has the reference AB0121, which I thought was for the Kern floating B Navi. One has to wonder if the caseback was swapped from a newer one. Or perhaps, like you said, there was a very very brief transition period where they started producing the display caseback but still had leftover B-wing dials… but after trying to track down one for a few weeks now, they are very rare indeed. Ended up finding a standard closed caseback AB0120 in near NOS condition with stickers, couldn’t say no and canceled my order for the latest gen. I like the new one a lot, but I love the older one.

    Breitling designers ruined the Icon of the brand with the new design, to be honest. The New Logo looks like a low-cost Chinese version of the older one, the larger sub-dials have absolutely no point, and the over-all dial is not that overloaded, which was generally the charm of the Navi-Timer. Was lucky enough to be able to buy the 2020-2021 46 mm with the B logo.

    There is a logical formula to keep your values on Breitling in the future. Start collecting all Pre-Kern watches and you are on the safe side. Since 2017 this once very reputable company is sinking straight to the graveyard of the swiss watch companies as many earlier on and purely family owned in the beginning of their heritage.Exactly 60% of the model range has been knocked off by green and nostalgic eco friendly nonsense and by a hord of marketing freaks coming specifically not from the watch industry.Imitation Loft ambiances in Shopping centers across the globe.Self imposed mockumentary styled actions like muppet show summits are just a bitter pill all serious collectors of this brand have to swallow just realising the earlier the better selling off their Breitling collections before it is to late! Accepting this illusionary concept created for the innocent believers of fake values and identities,that this famous brand certainly not deserves at all !!
