Four sisters over 40 years

- I came across this really awesome photo sequence of the Brown sisters over 40 years and just had to put them together with music. Several others had the same feeling I see.

I'm 80 today, and soon to be 81. I think the same thing. I was a young man, it seems as yesterday.
The years gain speed as we age. I never thought I would be older than my Parents this soon.
You’re not alone on that one Treelover.
True. As we age what happened during younger ages seems to be just happened yesterday.
I'm 24, wish me luck so, I can be 81 one day.
@@sasif1356 You'll cross 100🙌
@@mothilal6479 It's not longevity in itself that is singularly important.. What is the quality of one's existence as one ages? And figuring out the purposes? As there certainly is a purpose. That is the question of the ages for us all.
This is what the internet should be used for, thank you.
I concur. Something Insightful, delightful
Gatekeep 🔥
When they started, there was no hint of internet, smartphones, RUclips etc.
Yes,.... this AND tracking down Commies. These four ladies didn't grow up in a vacuum.
@@pabloherrera7210 Yes, I'm good. Are you a Commie? If so, I'd say,... the only good Commie is a dead Commie. Ya see, we're in a war, and in a war, you think about war. But, thanks for asking,... just the same.
They stood closer and embraced each other more as the years went by. It’s a beautiful thing. ❤️
*embraced.
@@TallSilentGuy thanks 🤙🏼
I noticed that also. I believe that the red head is the eldest sister. She seems to embrace/shelter/ protect the others. I love this
Exactly that what I saw clearly
They sure did, if you’re fortunate enough to come from a close Family.
Keep it that way.
This could/would NEVER happen to ours.
Cold, distant/unless trying to find dirt to smear.
Family shouldn’t but can be your worst nemesis.
The amazing thing is that 4 sisters got together for 40 years to take a photo. Sisters fight like hell!
So lucky to be together for 40 years. How i miss two of my elder sisters gone too soon. God bless these four.
I have 4 sisters and we are always happy to get together
@@julianachandler2975 glad to hear! My 2 sisters are total opposites and have fought on and off forever.
Time and circumstances make it almost impossible to do this. I wish I had been able to.
@@julianachandler2975 Same, I have two sisters and I can't remember the last fight.
The lack of smiles didn't bother me, this felt more like an "artsy" project to me, you know, black and white pictures and all.
@J. P u need to smile yourself
I would like to believe the at some point while looking back at their smile less photos they deliberately decided not to smile in the rest of their group photos in the coming years to keep the flow
If you look at pictures of your forebears from 100 or so years ago, they didn't smile either. In fact, they all looked as they just came from church where they'd listened to a 90 minute long sermon on Eternal Damnation.
No one told those old farmers to turn those frowns upside down though.
It was done so we could have some reflection on life...the good and difficult times.
If someone could explain why we SHOULD smile when photographed... Or even look at the spectator. If a photo captures the moment when you smile, or if the fact that you're being photographed on th particular moment / place / people around, fine. Otherwise it's pointless - or worse, hypocrit. Anyone can tell a spontaneous smile from a posed one. And a posed smile may conceal other signs of feelings.
I saw the first photo and the last photo and I cried because it reminded me of our family. I had totally 12 siblings, three passed away and only 9 of us left, we are very closed just like this family, I am in the sixty our youngest is in his 45, our oldest is 72. Every years we still visit and call to check up on everyone, I have to admit our parent raised us well.
My grandpa had a big family. Unfortunately the youngest died first... then the oldest soon after.
this is scary and beautiful at the same time, just like truth.
scary because those of us that are young now don't want to age and end up like them
@@Suzuha_Amane perfect explanation
I completely felt the same way....it shows how life just flys by sooo fast. I'm shaking my head as I can't believe I am 55 years old now.

I'm 65 now and I'm amazed at how incredibly fast life goes by. I always heard that growing up but you truly don't realize it till it actually has.......
the microwave made me understand just how fast life goes by, heat up a cup of coffee, and 1 minute and 10 seconds of life happens.
Pushing up towards 60 myself and I think its a busy happy fulfilled lifestyle that makes time seem to fly by...I have noticed time waiting in a Dr's waiting room just drags by in comparison.
Having kids is what does it, life just turns into one long groundhog day for about 20 years.
Yes, you notice everyone growing up, getting older. Then suddenly you notice you're on the old side and didn't see it coming. Funny, when you're a kid you think the old people were always that way.
Like someone said, you don't grow old. You just wake up one day to discover you're old.
They are truly blessed. I lost my only sibling when she was 10. That was over 40 years ago. Not a day goes by that I don't miss her.
I'm sorry.
:(
I'm so sorry🥺🥺🥺.. please stay strong🙏🙏🙏
Oh that is so sad, I'm sorry for your loss, I've lost my twin when I was a baby and sometimes I look back and see what it would be like if that twin was older❤️
I can understand your pain😒
Beautiful memories. I hope the 4 of you are still together in 2024 and living your lives.
This kinda makes me feel bad I'm not close to my living sisters.
@@angieang26 I’m sorry to hear that
I would've felt sad if the last picture had only showed three sisters....😟
Me too. This makes me sad anytime i see it
I remember reading an article and one of them did pass away (I believe it was the light-haired one but may be wrong) and that was why they stopped taking the pictures.
@@AndrewMacLaine thanks for ur info, just feel sad...that pictures must be so precious for them
I was worried about that. I’m always chocked up at these family portraits over time where a member of the family is missing in the last photo 😭😢

I'm 60 years old now everything seems like yesterday and a thousand years ago all at the same time
I agree. I’m also 60. I can’t figure out where the last 40 years went. Some things feel like they happened yesterday and others like forever ago.
I'm 17, and I'm already missing my childhood. I hope you guys are doing okay.
Yeah no kidding I'm about to retire next year
man where did the time go?
@@reddiamond8136 bruh you still a child. No need to try to hurry up and grow. Live your best at this age cuz believe me you'll be 27 before you know it and even then you still young. There's no meaning for this nonsensical competition you see the youth having. Jus live life.
Life is very very strange. Most people only think about their daily meal and their car. Buying stuff.
I am 69. Longing for the times Nature still was Nature. When the oceans and the air still were clean.
When there was silence and beauty. Hardly any cars. No muSICK in the shops.
When people did talk to each other, looked each other in the eyes...... instead of watching their IPhones........
Those were the days, my friends. They will never come back again.
I don’t even know these women but they are beautiful and bring tears to my eyes.
Time has no mercy. It keeps moving forward and drags you along with it whether you like it or not. Live life with no regrets.
Listen to 'Time', Pink Floyd. Listened to it when it came out but didn't take to much notice of the words. Now, 40 year's later the words have a powerful impact.
@@tilerman Yep!! At 79, still playing that song, and it has more meaning now!!
We still have to work tho.lol
Time has a powerful impact in us, as does age. Somethings we have no control over. Do we? May they have peace throughout the rest of their lives and throughout eternity. With God's blessings.🙏⌚
You always have regrets dude. But still, live life.
The most moving part of these pictures is, that they all survived those 40 years ... which is a positive and important aspect to celebrate, no matter what life dealt them through the 40 years!!
Now this is art. Beautiful women with their Mona Lisa smiles.

Thank you! You said beautiful words.
Beauty never goes down the drain. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Its beautiful and yet has a Mona Lisa quality, no fake smiles so it has depth, you can only guess at their private trials, but they remain resolutely sisters. Its beautiful. I hope they are still together.
From someone who has no sisters, I find these portraits very sweet. My life would be so different if I had just one sister.
On the other hand, you'll never know how hard it is to part ways with your siblings.
yes but there's going to be a lot of stuff going on if you had a sister, especially if she is younger than you.
@Carma Rasmussen I was blessed with the best sister ever. She left this world too soon.
Why?
I feel one child is the worst if by choice it's almost criminal on part of selfish parents
They didn’t need to smile as their bodies, their hands and body language showed quite clearly how they felt about each other. If anything, some of the photos seemed to show some sadness, personal maybe, family issues ??! But they still held each other. A wonderful tribute to them all. Love this xx
I found this enormously touching. No text is necessary to convey how these sisters love each other. What's more, they look like people I'd like to know and befriend.
A whole lifetime in 3 minutes. And as a 67 year-old, that's exactly what it feels like!

I saw a billboard in LA 10 years ago that said "the first person to live to 150 has already been born". I'm 64 now, lost a lot of close friends. Thankful to still have my 91 yr old parents, and two brothers 63, and 58. My best friend died of ALS last year at 78. Near the end he told me "the last 10 years went SO fast". I always wondered why old people wake up early.....now I know. I have 80k hours left of sports at a reasonable level. Of that, 20+ percent will be sleeping. Not much to 10 years when you put a number on it like that- Enjoy the ride fellow humans!

This was a photo project by Nicholas Nixon. Back in 2014, the sisters and Nixon decided that would be the last sitting. Ending on a high note. It would have been sad to see them dwindle as death took them. I kind of like how they ended it, leaving us to just appreciate the bond of these women.

I have only one sister who is older. We grew up in a very dysfunctional family. Despite everything I have over the years begged her to be a real sister to me. She told me to take a hike. I hope these sisters realize how fortunate they are to have each other. Honestly I miss mine dearly.
I miss mine too :)
I'm 2nd of eight, I don't see them anymore, and I'm fine with it, all we did was argue. The arguing still continues among them all, I don't want to be part of it. They are never happy. I am happy in my own company now.
I can totally relate. I'm the older sister always trying to reach out to my younger sister, but she told me "I can't be the sister you want me to be". I miss her dearly, but till this day I'm hopeful and waiting with open arms.
@It Is Crafted I've been doing that for over 50 years
My family disowned me when our mom died
That was awesome, watched it twice. Turn 60 in a few weeks, which blows my mind, and passing time is on my mind more than ever. A lot of great memories but would’ve been better with siblings. Thanks for sharing this.
I have 4 sisters, as I watched this, I could see my sisters aging. This brought back beautiful memories I had lost. Thank you for posting a masterpiece of life.
The photos were lovely…there were no smiles or laughter, but they must all be close if they meet at least every year. I have three brothers I haven’t seen for years. Unfortunately my mother never encouraged loyalty in the family and actually drove wedges between us. She hated it when we were getting on with each other. After my father died when I was 32 the whole family sort of fell apart. She’s 85 now and I haven’t seen her for 25 years and I never want to. Fortunately I have a wonderful husband and son which more than makes up for my previous dysfunctional family.
Good on you to focus on what you HAVE, not on what you did not have. “Wonderful husband and son” DO make up for the past. God’s best to you.

Hello how are you doing 😊😊
Thank you so much for doing this and sharing with us. What beautiful faces and amazing b&w photography! Wish I knew you all.
In each of their faces, in each of the shots, I saw stories that will never be told. I felt privileged to have seen this.
Thank you for sharing. Six sisters, two brothers...having lost three sisters seems unreal.
So touching. I wish I did this with my brothers and sister all those years ago. But we still are all very close, and the great times we enjoy, past and present, are locked in my memory, which I cherish
I'm an only child and always felt like I was missing out by not having siblings. This was painful to watch for me. People who get along with their siblings and have them as friends are the luckiest. Always have someone to lean on. Unfortunately it was never my decision to make, I guess my parents thought "nope no more" after seeing how much of a troublemaker I was as a child lol!
But there are also people who have a narcissistic sibling and it's very harmful psychologically. At least you missed out on the negatives, as well.
Many people with siblings wish they were the only child. Like me! So, no worries.
We all have different blessings. I hope you were able to forge great friendships. Large families can be complicated but as I age, I appreciate mine more. 💗
It's okay if you don't have siblings, a bestfriend also can be your sibling. I think what's makes someone called sister or brother are basically someone who would be there for you no matter how happy or sad you are and share their time with you, even if they're not biologically related to your family:)
Families can be full of mischief. I have 3 brothers and two sisters and scheming by one sister created a split down the middle after father died and she decided that she alone (but by using the rest of us) she would look after her mother. Be grateful you had the attention of both parents. Get your nose off the window, all of life is a gift enjoy the bad bits too
I have taken a pic of me with all of my kids on each of their birthdays. I thought they would stop when each turned 18. But THEY insist on continuing it. I plan on finding them all (lol) and giving them those pics just before I die.
Funny you should day that. My mom is 86 and she just started giving us most of the pictures she and my dad took of us over the years. At first I was mystified. She explained that she saved a few that were her favorites, but she was afraid they'd all get tossed out upon her death and she wanted to make sure that the grandkids and great grandkids would all get a chance to enjoy them if they were interested.
@@shannonbloom4133 Wow, that is fantastic. Keep those pictures, forever. I always told my kids, "If the house is on fire, GRAB THE PHOTO ALBUMS!" lol

"Youth is wasted on the young"
These photos are such a beautiful record. For those who are concerned that sometimes they’re not smiling… Not smiling doesn’t mean someone isn’t content or happy, they’re just not smiling. We live in an era where we have been taught to smile and to be highly conscious of how we look at all times. I remember the 1970s, and just not yet having been trained to perform for the camera as we have now in this area of social media.
Their facial expressions
are beautiful .
♡
I much prefer this type of totally natural pose
Thank you for sharing these moving pictures,
as being an old person this was almost personal.
This life of ours is short and should not be wasted.
Time is weathered into their aging faces. They are so blessed to still have each other with all their stories.
What an amazing video. I’m 53, 4 children the youngest 16. My youngest is me yesterday. Walks, talks, sounds like me. You grow up in a heartbeat, you realise what matters in life. My dad is no longer here, my mother 82. I miss those days. I guess most of us do.
A beautiful video.
They look like they have been through a lot in life in the last 40 years. God knows what they have lost, how many times people have betrayed their trust, how many times they had to face apathetic people, how many times they had to hold on firmly to whatever little they had, how many times they had been insulted for no fault of their own, how many times they had to bear someone else's burden and responsibilities, how many times their advice have been thrown out of the window by people they try to help, how many times they had taken it on the chin and still carried on...the list may be endless.
That’s a very negative list. What about all the good stuff?
Lighten up, Sappy.
Beautiful. . .how lucky they were to still have one another across all that time
They looked like happiness had eluded them for most of that 40 years. At least they had each other.
I am so amazed with the pictures. I wish I had those kind of pictures with my siblings.
I’m 52 and life hasn’t turned out well. I miss being a kid living at home with my big brother and my parents. Life goes by so fast.
It is curious how they seem to catch up with each other, to see each other overcome with their ages. Their aging is not linear. But what is certain is that they all seem to be beautiful people.
There is no other way to age other than linear
Some years were more painful than others...ah, bittersweet life
Never blame anyone in life
The good people give u happiness
The worst people give u lessons and
The best people give u memories ❤️
That was pretty cool. It almost looks like they should be in band the way their posing.
Lol I can see that.
Even being just 16 years old sometimes i miss my childhood.
Lol wtf 😂 what do you miss you were born in like 2005 kiddo.
Don't stress it out
16 is old what the heck do u mean
LOL..I've got socks older than you.
Watching this brought me such joy and clarity. It's never too late to abandon your family.
so sad what old age does to us , thanks for pictures to remember
Beautiful ladies, this was very interesting to see how they matured. 💗 You can even see from the photos when each of them were having a good or bad/stressful time or year. We can see stress in faces, that is temporary through tough times or even just lack of sleep.
I wish I had a close sibling, makes me sad at times. 😔
These ladies are beautiful, natural beauties no makeup..WOW
Beautiful, in every possible way. God Bless.
So beautiful. Made me cry. We're all, EVERYone of us, getting older every year. I yearn for paradise to come, Jehovah's promise. What's not to like, and, in the meanwhile, we can have hope and faith and dreams.
That was so beautiful and obviously they continued to always get along with one another - really enjoyed the transition over the years - cheers
I'm 104 years old and soon to be 98. One thing I've learned from all these years, and counting is not one of them
🗿
This thing all things devours: birds, beasts, trees, flowers; Gnaws iron, bites steel; grinds hard stones to meal; Slays king, ruins town, And beats high mountain down.
Time.
This is beautiful and poignant. I'm grateful they were willing to share the pictures 💓💓💓
...😅, that was heart touching, brought tears to me eyes. They started out as beautiful young ladies, and are still beautiful in their latter years...🌹🌷🌺
this, as i'm sure everyone knows is just claptrap. if you mean physically then you're just lying and full of shit. if you mean spiritually then how do you know. do you know these girls? did you know then when they were young? people who say this kind of stuff just make me ill. just don't say anything!
@@theID2 you know what???? You're absolutely right! I'm sure you won't mind if I get ill with you....????
@@theID2 damn you're good, spotted a fake right off the bat...
@@theID2 standards of what people find beautiful are different. i personally think they all were and are beautiful people. to think that if everyone doesn’t have the same personal opinion as you they’re a liar is so unbelievably conceited that it’s funny haha. like, you literally said people sharing a different opinion makes you sick. that’s hilarious.
@@emmy-v4x what's hilarious is you have no clue what you're talking about. you think someone should be allowed an unfettered opinion based on complete ignorance? being open-minded is one thing but being so open-minded that your brain falls out is something else. maybe you're just a big ray stevens fan and 'everything is beautiful in its own way'? this is where the claptrap comes in. if everything is beautiful then beauty has lost all meaning! everything then also becomes ugly! ' everything is ugly in its own way'! your dumbassedness is part of what's wrong with society. you don't know the difference between up and down but it doesn't stop you from jumping into conversations you know nothing about, does it?
They were so beautiful.
Love that they took the videos together.
Beautiful sisters!!
