The petty officer PTI, ended up warrant officer PTI at HMS CAMBRIDGE ( missile/gunnery) school in wembury, devon. Sadly now gone, one of my best drafts in the mob (part 3 training for seacat aimer) during the summer of 1985. Was there for six months due to fuck up at hms centurion drafting and was given the job of pool attendant for the outside pool. Basically I checked in with the pti in the mornings and went back to bed for a few hours, then up for lunch and down to beach which was 2 mins away. Was even given a green card ( no duty watches). Thought this was the navy until the August when I joined my first ship HMS INTREPID. Boy was I in for a sick , FORENOON, FIRST........AFTERNOOON,MIDDLE.......FIRSTDOG,MORNING.......LASTDOG, ALL NIGHT IN. But after a few months and into Gibraltar, Naples,Djibouti,Laspalmas,Cyprus ect as we were the Dartmouth training squadron along with HIS FIFE I loved it. Wish I had never met my wife who persuaded me that the grass was greener on the other side. The mob isn't the one I joined but we still would kick balls as required. I'm only 52 and would remain in a flash if given the chance.
What an excellent video. Thank you for showing it. I lived not far away at the time. The RNC always looked so imposing and stunning nestling on that Devon hillside. I’d love an update as to what the subsequent careers were of these great cadets. It’s scary to think that the little baby referred to will be in their mid forties now, and no doubt all the officers are long since retired. However just 5 years later, in 1982, came the Falklands war, and presumably some served in the RN through that. It would be great to track some of these participants down and do a follow up.
Served at BRNC Dartmouth in The Royal Marines Band from '78-'80, had a trip out to Hong Kong with the band during that time 😊

My right ear is really enjoying this
Streuth! I was there in 2002 and it was pretty much exactly the same as this. Even the ruddy furniture was still the same!

Fantastic video! I wonder what these young officers went on to do? Guess many will be heading into retirement now..
"...though Nelson might spin in his tomb, they even have women here." How times have changed :')
What mystical creatures they are! 😂
Was there from 1971 to 1972, looking for anyone who might have any type of film from Lord High Admirals Division.
No the PTI was in his 'real' accent (I remember!!!!!) From the front row of the 'leadership lecture' (Colin Hamilton as speaker).....
Well, well, well.... long time no see/speak Nigel. How you doing? I am in regular touch with a few of our intake, but mostly my SL brothers.
20:00 That boy is now in his early/mid 60s. Would be interesting to know what he made out of himself.
This was the intake after mine
Sadly the WRENS are no more.. once played football there...
that PTI is brilliant. hed give an aspirin a sore head lol
PTI Wesley. "It's only pain" was his catchphrase. Remember him well!
I thought he sounded a little like Frank Spencer
Was that PTI putting that accent on?

Sounds like Frank Spencer. I reckon he was doing it for a laugh on telly.
Cant be too scary for the fat lasses.
I was there nearly 56 years ago. Who knew Frank Trickey ?
