Overall all this is the result of US culture being friendly towards drugs which is not a recent development. Hard to find a fellow American who hasn’t done drugs at some point and helped fuel this disaster. Don’t get me started at how little family structure matters to America this is the outcome.

There needs to be a huge rehab camp in a secluded area of the desert where it's too far to walk to a highway to get back to town. They can be court ordered such as deferred sentences to this place. Not State ran though. A private Christian rehab camp where they will also be given free online courses of whatever career field they desire. So when it's time to come back to society, they come back clean with something to look forward to and a job already lined up for them. Even help them start a business if that's what they want to succeed in life. But taking their belongings and throwing them away and forcing them out of one neighborhood to the next, and taking down or closing off any potential shelter they may have is never going to fix any of these problems that the doctors and government purposely created for you. Neither is arguing democrats vs republicans or vice versa. One side shows being fed up, the other side shows some compassion, but really, either side could care less. It's on we the people to stop pointing fingers and do our own part to give and support our fellow man who are prisoners of unfortunate circumstances and lifestyles. It's virtually impossible for most to overcome without some support and letting them know there are still people who care and want to see them do well. Everyone has been so brainwashed and fixated on what the news and social media has to say, that everyone forgot how to be decent human beings.
You can’t force or convince all addicts to permanently get clean and rehab housing, food, healthcare, counselors, therapists, education, etc per year would cost like 500k per addict

They want return customers because it's a lucrative business. Just like the medicine industry. They want to keep you sick to keep you coming back. The addicts who don't want rehab are the ones who have already been through those worthless places. They don't work any more than putting them in jail does. They've lost hope and have accepted their lives as is. But with a new hope of actual success and future promises, it might bring back an old spark in their hearts to want to make a great comeback. And everyone loves a good comeback story.
