While bicycles are great for going to the park, maybe work if your sat down all day. They are not at all useful for a shopping trip. The biggest mistake drawn up was to make Vicar lane a two way road, after making Briggate a traffic free zone, The market carpark which no longer exists cut down the amount of visitors to Leeds Market, People couldn't afford the NCP car park, as they also can't afford to be ripped off by the direct card paying Car parks around Leeds, that charge you till 9.00pm when you only park for 1hour. Disabled people won't want to be chugging around Leeds on a mobility scooter from Merrion to Bus station or Market, so double sized bicycle/ mobility scooter lanes are a waste of money. What do the very few Market stall holders think of all this? I can honestly say I haven't supported Leeds City Centre since the major loss of our Market. Turn it into an events centre, and make the Headrow a Centre Park, very energy efficient!!
