- Hello guys and gals, it's me Mutahar again! This time we take a look at what appears to be gamers voting with their wallets and choosing not to participate in one of the worst trends in video gaming. Rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League represents some of the worst trends and thankfully gamers decided to put their money towards better games such as Palworld and Helldivers 2. Thanks for watching!

The live service idea was WB fault. The gameplay, story, lack of enemy variety, repetitive unfun activities were Rocksteady's fault. They even dropped the ball with the skill tree
Rocksteady was already working on another GaaS game after Arkham Knight. That one got cancelled and then Warner just put Suicide Squad on their laps because it was not working with whoever was trying to develop it before. They probably had no saying in that but they always wanted to do a GaaS. But probably they didn't want to do the way Warner wanted, so that's why a lot of people just got out of there.
I imagine it going down like that episode of the Simpsons where they came up with poochie.
Not true this was Rocksteady's idea. Now there was some creative clash between leading devs which led to the exodus of studio founder Sefton Hill and several others. The man whom they clashed with used to work on The Division so you can see what the problem was.
@@Death13Horseman Go read the sources again. Suicide Squad was NOT Rockesteady's idea. Their idea was to make a GaaS service game and that game didn't get traction. Then Warner put them to make SS.
gameplay and story aren't really 100% rocksteady's fault tho, they could have the best idea for a campaign but at the end of the day, WB still has to approve it, i'm sure they had better ideas but couldn't go through with them because of the executives.
Imagine working on a game for 8 years just to have less than 1k concurrent players on Steam

Gaming industry needs to focus on the quality and player experience, rather than churning out half-baked products. As gamers, we must indeed vote with our wallets to promote better games.
Sadly, some game companies didn't think so (and maybe some player, mainly some player that some people called "Whale".). They only care about sucking the consumer's money and suck some player, like "Whale", the player that will paid anything to high their ranking on the game and boast about it somewhere.
This is why I've stuck with retro gaming. Games like this are totally avoidable
@Mysticbladegod
Yeah, Superman 64, Supreme Peek Quality.
I tried doing that with Call of Duty for a while by waiting for it to be on sale but it doesn't help when tons of people still buy the game for full price at launch

The lesson to be learned here is that you can't make games for shareholders because shareholders don't play games. Shocking though it may be, entertainment products have to entertain the end user.
Shared holders are just bunch of crows eats your guts and then leave
The problem is all these big studios replaced us as the costumers, their real clients are the shareholders and the average player is just a product that comes with the game.
It hasn't even been 3 months into 2024 and we already have two high-profile AAA(A) game failures: Suicide Squad:KYS and Skull and Barebones.

Well, at least we have P3 ReLoad and SMT 5 Vengeance. Also P5 Tactica finally came out this month on the PS4 in the west. If the average gamer can only buy three or four new games a year that's me set :D

Those steam reviews were super weird. I found at least 20 of them saying "This game will be good at a discount" "wait for a discount" That shouldnt be a positive review lol
I'd say more of a mixed or nuanced take, especially since Steam reviews don't allow you to grade a game on a numeric scale.
They also nuked a lot of the negative reviews so people said what they had to say under positive reviews

Steam hides mass bad reviews to "avoid review bombing", because "the average player doesn't want hate reviews" or something like that
Because it's true. And it still doesn't work, lmao.
'Avoiding review bombing' works only if your game already had positive reviews and then gets a lot of negative ones. That's why Blizzard couldn't hide negatives from Overwatch 2 for example
Setam can hide whatever. Game dead amyway
So how do they determine what is review bombing and what is just people really shitting on a shit game? Because the way it's done now it just makes shitty games look like they're being review bombed when they're really just shitty games. Edit: speech to text errors.
*Steam* has monopoly just like *Google*. At end of day, *Steam* is much more as a live service Platform now and can take your games away if they want to.
The irony of Suicide Squad turning Muta into the Jonkler in the first 5 seconds is almost too much.
It's funny how any random person online could tell them it will be a disaster basically from the moment it was announced yet the people in charge are so high up their own asses with fingers in their ears yelling lalalalala.

People need to keep taking with their wallets, otherwise they will just see people buying shit and then make more shit
1:12 Origins is the black sheep of the series because it launched with a ton of bugs and the devs openly stated that they have no plans to fix it because they're busy making DLC.
Still a good game though, at least imo.

@@vergillives9890Sure, but that doesn't change the fact that they refused to initially fix the game because they wanted to pump out paid DLC instead. Muta wondered why it's the black sheep, and that's why.
What’s extra funny is that a lot of people were saying “hey, the base game might be lacking but there’s more to come! Stop being so negative 😡”, but if the failure is bad enough to impact the seasonal content, you just paid $70 for a live service game with post launch content WITHOUT THE POST LAUNCH 😂

@housewilma4904 I think you meant, "Developer? Never heard of her."
Something I don't understand is:
If Warner wanted to get grandiose amounts of that sweet sweet dolla', why didn't they did a bit of market research?
They had 2 big superhero live service games failing in less than 2 years. One of those failures was even published by them.
Even if that was not enough proof, people literally saw the trailer and told them: "This ain't it chief".
Like, they could have saved this game. Cancel the live service aspect, postpone the launch for a few years, and instead of a co-op experience, or keep it if you want it, you make 4 separate campaigns that highlighted each character beautifully and that's all.
It's not that hard to reach that conclusion
Because sweet baby inc was already on their payroll after they removed the ROCKSTEADY devs wanting to make a superman game
Just pointing out, the reason it has "Very Positive" is because they were caught removing negative reviews.
At that point this game deserves to fail 100%
I can't wrap my head around how this game has "very positive" tag on steam while also having a dead player base
It means people aren't even bothering shitting on it. Thats a new low if you ask me.
Steam has a history of removing negative reviews
I think its because everyone could see its bad from a mile away and didnt buy it. The only people who bought it are the ones who somehow like it

@@HoLeeFuk317 Steam doesn't remove reviews, the publisher does.
Something that is important for people to know, the original director of rocksteady (responsible for the creation of the Arkham trilogy) stepped down from the company. This is most likely because they wanted to make a Superman game/other IP but were told by the higher ups to make a live-service title :/
So this rocksteady you’re criticizing is NOT the same team that is responsible for our favorite Batman games.

Sad to know that I was spot on with this conclusion. Like WB easily could have seen how that game failed, learned from it, and tried something actually better. Nope. They just had to follow "suit".
They followed supersuit.

@@megamandrn001my theory is most people at the time only played it for the Fortnite stuff you got from playing.
Not quite "spot on". The Avengers game was a success if compared to Sushi Squad.

Part of the problem with all these live service games coming out is they really gotta fight for your attention. Too many gamers already have their select few live service games they want to stick to most, asking them to pick up another one is going to take a lot of convincing because these games demand so much of your time already.
So when a game like this or Avengers 2020 come out the way they do, it couldn’t be any more clear that whoever came up with doing this and approving it are not paying attention to why the successful live service games are where they are.

Yup this is on all of them,. They saw the backlash that happened when they initially released the trailer before delaying its release, to the point that they had to take it down irrc, but they STILL went through with this release as is and are wondering why its doing terribly. Even going so far as to suppress negative reviews on sites isn't helping them much.
They should go back to making single player games.
