My concern with astro is can you program it to patrol at night when your sleeping and if it finds an unwanted person what happens does it have a loud alarm that can wake you up etc....
I received an invite today to buy Astro. I am concerned because Amazon just laid off a large number of people in their Alexa department. I am wondering how this will affect Astro and its development and its support. $1600 is a huge investment for something that might not be around for long.
I talked with Amazon and they said for me to remotely control the device I should be on the same wireless network. That ended my interest and I suggested for business monitoring or elder assistance they should allow people to opt-in to this outside network access accepting slightly higher security issue which I think is the concern. I am able to access blink cameras remotely, for example. Incidentally I did find drop in feature on the Amazon Show devices useful for elderly parents because they didn't have to figure out how to answer it. But I wasn't going to invest in this device unless remote access was feasible.
I will definitely get one of these. I am on the market for a security system for the new home that I am moving to. While I am at home most of the time. I still want to have a security system. I also just found out about the whole Eufy security issue of video being unlawfully accessed so that would eliminate the need for a indoor cameras. I would still get a camera as I will have a basement with full size windows and window wells. I can't help but think of how someone could just step right down the window well and break the window gaining access.
Can the bot security patrol the house continually at night or during the day, could this work in my office workplace, id like to have this patrolling during out of hours when everyone goes home, and finally does it need alexa, i just want a security bot roaming personal spaces and this looks idea if it can. Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully reply to my questions.
it's interesting as a robot fan... i'm wondering if i could use it to keep my dog from being destructive when i'm away.... like could i spy on him remotely and say, 'no, go relax.....when he starts pulling blankets and pillows off of sofas.... or let him know he's not alone

This is true.
it was for their home delivery robot 🤷🏻♂️
Is there an instant kill mode like Spider-Man’s suite?
This has to be of use in elderly home care situations.
It would really help.

@@johnleeholmes4125 I think the echoes have drop-in and are much much cheaper.

Can this be set up mainly for security patrolling, any idea how we in Singapore can get this as the link says for US only!
Thank you in advance

It will patrol while in away mode. It requires Ring security. It comes with a 30-day trial.
If a thief came in and steal Astro...are there any recoverability features?
Why would they do that if they would just get tracked?
@@orangecapy lol but the iphone is being stolen despite the tracking.
I mean the only down fall is stairs. If you have a 1 level home sure but if you have different levels it's kinda pointless
Naaa I would get this just so there is something in my place I can talk too lol
Just blocked off the staircase with cardboard as Astro maps your home.
I would like to install a mini gun in the cargo compartment
😳
This would work nicely for us to check on my grandpa! Perfect
Why is it not Oled?
Does it have edge detection so it doesn't fall down the stairs?
Yes it does. I always have the basement door open and it never drove off. It's also never clipped a corner. It's really good with spatial awareness.

Can you also not send everything to cloud storage ? So you can only see it
I'd like the answer to this question as well.
It stored it in the cloud through the Astro app and you can also view its cameras using the Ring security app. I failed to mention that in the video.
Nothing like a lack of privacy maxed out
You deserve more views and subscribers. Good content.
Im interested....Reminds me of the housekeeper from the Jetsons 😊
My wife and I made the same comment.
Is this an old video reposted? It is currently on invite beta for 1600$. The 900$ deal went out a while ago.
The early deal ended. The price went up.
@@jeradtech i understand that. Just wondering why the data in the video is outdated.
@@clashofclansshield8583 He says he got it at a beta price and then immediately says the regular price will be more like $1500.
@@mavfan1 he posted the video long after the price shot up to 1600$. That is why I wondered if this was a video that was old or reposted.
Excellent video
Very cool! I love it!
aren´t you sceptical about the information they get what they used with them?
This little dude is awesome, and i am not gonna fall for those people who say this is a government spying device. Such party poopers. Lol

This isn't really a review, it's more like an advertisement.
