I'm not too bright so I plugged in the monitor ribbon cable while there was power to the board. I got a little spark and puff of smoke and figured this project was over. Not so! I guess whatever got toasted wasn't important because the lcd screen and the Chinese board are working together perfectly. Thanks!

Hi, Animiles. You need to check the model number and version number of the display, before get a controller board or something else. So, go and check the matrix information of the display, and compare if they are compatible with each other, and then get the right controller board kit for yourself. And one is 1080P, the other one is 800P, it means the resolutions are different here, the firmware is different. My suggestion is: Check compatibility first, and then choose the right one, which mean cost efficient, and easy to process here. Happy DIYing!

I use hdmi on my control board. When I press the on button: 1. The control boards led lamp turns green, the screen goes on for a couple seconds, displays "attention, no signal". 2. Turns off with the control boards led lamp showing red. Since the screen gets the message, I assume the cables connected from the screen and to the board is good. Since my pc is registerring that something is happening when I plug in the HDMI cable, I assume the connection between the PC and control board is good. My hypothesis is that either I am missing a driver for the control board, the screen I'm using is not compatible with HDMI signals, or I broke the screen by touching the "do not touch" part of the screen.
So I plan on doing this connected to my desktop computer; USB or HDMI connected. My question for anyone is: Is there a way to have the screen slave power off of the desktop computer? Or does it have to have a separate power cord?

Mine comes with a small circuit board that you plug the monitor chord into and it does not fill up all of the space needed to be plugged in!

The 12V rail on a desktop PSU has around 15A - The LCD Controller Boards uses 2 to 5A so the desktop PSU would burn out the LCD board.
