    Thanks for playing the incredible Crowded House, I’ve been lucky seeing the band couple of times as well as Neil Finn solo shows. Neil is also the current member with Fleetwood Mac.
    Good news Crowded House have reformed with a new lineup & Neil’s 2 sons will play guitar & drums & the band will start touring in 2022 in the UK & around Europe

    I am so glad you posted this, but if you want to see an unbelievably moving performance, watch Neil Finn's tribute to Paul Hester. He performed "Better Be Home Soon" at the Aria Awards - and I have no idea how he managed to make it all the way through to the end. RIP Hessie. 💔

  • @09penny1
    @09penny1 2 года назад +24

    There was a lot of emotion and some hurt feelings in the hearts of all of these musicians as they performed this song for the last time together as a group and they knew it would be the last time. They were all trying not to cry and the bass player and keyboardist were angry with Neil Finn, the lead singer and founder because he had made the decision to end the group after 13 yrs. of nonstop touring with both Crowded House and his former group, Split Enz. Interpersonal relationships were breaking down within the group and without the group. Neil Finn was exhausted and wanted to pursue his own solo career. The drummer didn't survive after Crowded House broke up. He committed suicide in 2005. He was Neil Finn's best friend.

    Jeez guy's, you've made my Aussie heart ache again! Ditto everything l said about Powderfinger. Just wanted to add that the Australian music industry is quite insular in a lot of ways because not a lot of our artists get recognition overseas. The band formed originally as Split Ends (an NZ band) back in the 70's and had hits like I see red (my fave), Late last night and Poor boy. They moved to Oz and became Split enz, they then broke up and later Crowded House was born with a whole pile of other history in between. I grew up with the Enz and This is a long serving australia/New Zealand band and so incredibly beloved.

    The requester put an emphasis on "Aussie Band" because they were formed in Melbourne Australia but the singer Neil Finn is a Kiwi (New Zealander) that we have adopted as our own. The Kiwis try and claim Crowded House because of that. Neil Finn cut his teeth in Kiwi band Split Enz a few years before Crowded House formed. Us Aussies are happy to claim Split Enz as out own as well because that's where they became successful but they are a New Zealand band. We have a bit of a friendly rivalry with our cousins across the ditch in the land of the long white cloud just as you guys have with Canada.

      To that smart ass Ben Dover & Phil MaCrackin who commented below, we know the band is called Crowded House mate (BUT) You can thank Neil Finn & Paul Hester for Crowded House. Finn & Hester, both from the NZ band Split Enz were the founding members of Crowded House. Finn and Hester decided to form the new band (Crowded House) during the first Split Enz farewell tour, "Enz with a Bang", in late 1984. Neil Finn and Paul Hester were former members of New Zealand band Split Enz (A Kiwi NZ band) The fact is without those two there would have been NO Crowded House. No need for being a smart ass on informative comments which gives a little history. No need for it! Darcy, keep up the good comments. You were just stating good, interesting facts which would interest most people including me. There is always one dickhead in da house. You were the bigger man and ignored his smart assed comment. The part about Australian Band a lot of New Zealand (NZ) people get popular and move to Australia as there is a much bigger audience. Tim and Neil Finn from NZ had a band formed in Auckland NZ called Split Enz from 1972 to 1984 in which Paul Hester was a member. The band was hugely successful and they move to Australia. They also did a successful tour of the US. Once Split Enz had broken up in 1985 Neil and Paul formed Crowded House in Melbourne Australia, in 1985. Tim Joined later. So there is always a rivalry between NZ and Australia who own them.
    Don't Dream it's Over was covered by Miley Cyprus performed it with Arianna Grande at a benefit concert. Fleetwood Mac Covered it as well when Neil Finn joined them. Is it a cover if the person who wrote it performs it with another band?

    Crowded House were formed in Australia in 1985 by New Zealander Neil Finn (ex Split Enz,one of New Zealand's finest bands ever),along with Australians Paul Hester (ex Split Enz) and Nick Seymour. They briefly had Neil's brother Tim Finn (ex Split Enz) in the band as well. The band has split a few times,the first time after drummer Paul Hester passed away,and have reformed a few times since with Neil Finn and bassist Nick Seymour being the nucleus of the band. Neil Finn joined Fleetwood Mac a few years back after Lindsey Buckingham was sacked,but recently reformed Crowded House with Nick and 2 of Neil's sons,thus making Crowded House more of a Kiwi band now.

I got asked by them if I would like to come and work at this concert, and I agreed( took a little string pulling on their end). It is an eight-hour drive from Adelaide, we would leave at around midday Friday, & I would put Crowded House Double CD on for the drive. We would work one venue Friday night & the other venue Saturday night & drive home Sunday(after two days away from our partners & family, we just wanted to get home to see them, so we usually left around 9 am Sunday, & of course the Crowded House CD went on for the drive)

Neil Finn the singer and primary writer had a decent set of solo albums and a further great album with his brother to add to the Crowded House albums. He eventually wound up singing with Fleetwood Mac. Great career, great songwriter.

    Paul Hester the drummer and the mist beautiful man sadly suffered from depression and took his own life in 2005. It was after an incredible free farewell gig they did on the steps of the Sydney Opera house, if you can find any of that footage its awesome. I was there, just incredible. Paul's suicide really effected the band, but the news that they are back and touring Australia this summer at festivals is wonderful.

    Neil Finn is an incredible song writer. They broke up, their drummer Paul Hester died tragically, then they reunited with Neil’s sons playing with them. Their body of work is awesome. Songs like Better be home soon, Hold in the River, Not the girl you think you are, When you come, Help is coming, all phenomenal.

    To be fair, the talent in the band, the lyricist and songwriter, Neil Finn, is a New Zealander. As already mentioned Split Enz is also worth a listen. "I see Red" is a rockin' banger I am sure you would appreciate.

    When I saw them in Portland in 2010 they closed with Better Be Home Soon. They were performing in an outdoor amphitheater and the moon was rising behind them as the performance came to a close. It was just too perfect. But zoning laws wouldn’t permit them to play on past eleven p.m.. Neil responded, “F*cking zoning laws!” I’d see them again if I got the chance.
