I struggle with one thing, well no, all things lol. How to recognize pitches when they are released. Not recognizing them makes me swing at all kinds of crap I have no business swinging at. It sucks tbh. It makes me just dislike the game because I don't feel like I have a chance. How do you recognize them so quickly AND get the PCI in the right position that fast? I'd love an idea. I see it but trying to apply it to my game is irritating me 😂
I have been playing the show for a few years now and every year searching for good hitting tips and i normally watch a lot of people's videos but after I watched this I can honestly say this by far is the best in detail video I've ever seen in the over 3 years I've been watching. Keep it up and look forward to more vids.
I watched this whole video last night, played 3 ranked games in division series with a half gold half diamond team against kluber and Newhouser and won all 3 and scored at least 8 runs in each game. I would struggle to hit those guys but now I have so much confidence. This is such a good tip video, I really appreciate the help. Everyone try this you will get better 100%
inconsistent hitting was always the death of me.. never watched tips till now, and wow i can’t wait to apply these tips later today. thank you so much. Favorite youtuber by far. #Roadto20k
Shout out to “Bustatnut69” just played him. He whooped my ass. I asked him for advice and he sent me in the direction of “yfk” Best advice I’ve gotten from an opponent so far this year.
Connor Tripp nope. bought 20 and i’m somehow significantly better lmao. i feel like the skill gap is huge this year even with people higher level than me.
Your anticipation of where the pitch is hitting the strike zone is sick. I slowed each hit down to 0.25 just to watch, I realized that I place my PIC higher or under often which is also because I have the habit of swinging early. I think I need to settle down wait till later in the pitch to place PCI and swing
DUUUUUUUUUUUDE.... The fact that you showed how you hold the left stick with your thumb, I’m def subbing!!! All people do is talk about slightly this, slightly that, and I always wondered how people were avoiding so much tension on the PCI. You’re a real on for that!
OMG!!! that slightly up and in tip is the single greatest piece of information I have ever seen on RUclips. Subscribed brother. Keep up the solid work.
They got to fix the pitching right now is super inconsistent, even when you make perfect imput is still bad. The hitting feels kinda easy the pitch speed in all start are closely to mlb 18( Super Slow). Love your video kyle you are a killer!!
it is based on player stats. So if your pitcher has terrible control, you wont get perfect pitches even if you have perfect input. Of course it is frustrating
I felt the same way as you. I’ve been doing directional and couldn’t stand using the pci. I forced myself this year and just kept doing it. It got to points that I went back to directional and it was annoying me that the pci wasn’t moving so I just kept at it and I’ve actually gotten better and see waaaayyyy better results. Keep at, I promise you’ll get better.
Just wanted to thank you man. Seein your videos helped me get better within MLB the Show. I was taking a lot of Ls before knowing of your videos. Now I’m actually doing decent and winning.
Not gonna lie!!! I used your tips bro and my hitting instantly improved!!! I’m still nowhere near to Kyle but I’m definitely better than I was! I’m hitting the ball way better! Jacking dingers and winning games!!! Thanks brotha
Yeah, that guy's team looks like a high school team against yours. One of the main reasons I've never had any interest in online play is how unbalanced opponents are. No one stands a chance when their opponent can outspend them.
Also it goes more on your rank then how good your team is. If you got a bunch of gold cards and just started you can easily beat a all mid to high 90s team!
Bro not even 20 min after watching this and adjusting my hit settings to match yours I’ve had more perfect timing than my last 20games! Thank you! New subscriber here to stay.
Do some batting practice and set it to whatever difficulty you play online. If you play any other offline modes like RTTS or just even against the CPU It helps a lot if you make it the same difficulty as online
Theee hitting tips are fantastic! Thanks so much greatly improved my game and my sons playing as well. When will you be doing your pitching tips one ? I’m doing well with the pitching but would love to see what you do.
Best hitting tip video out here Me before: averaging 2 runs per game Me after: 1st game: win 14-2 2nd game: 8-0 made the guy quit in 1 and 2/3 innings...
I have been struggling recently at the plate so I found a few videos but this one is definitely the best one and has helped me get better at hitting keep it up
Great tips. The few adjustments especially playing up and in a bit helped me alot, went from being inconsistent in veteran to smashing homeruns quite frequently on HOF difficulty. Subscribed 👍
This was very helpful. I just started playing last night and I was doing well after going through the tutorial, but started sucking with the hitting afterwards. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much for the advice! The way you explain and speak to what your teaching is the best I've seen for MLB the show!! What are your thoughts on the new Juan Pierre?? Thx again.
When the pitch is coming are you looking at the pitchers hand to see where it goes and what pitch it is or do you wait for it to come towards the strike zone
Con 14 follow the ball all the way through. Lock in the pitchers pitching motion and time how long it takes from the ball to releases his hand. Don’t literally time it 1 2 3. Time it as it is
Do you have any subtle recommendations to help improve my timing? I am always getting decent pci placement and am having a lot of good good etc, but am struggling to get perfect perfect. Thanks
New subscriber here, and first year MLB Show player (haven't played a baseball video game since Ken Griffey N64, lol),. Thank you very much for this tips videos... they're very very helpful.
the trick is being able to distinguish a ball from a strike and that is best from playing and finding the batting view best for you as mentioned early in this vid.
Yeah I agree with it being a hitting video would rather see pic placement than the score but if it's just a game not a instruction type video yeah let me see that score..
I swear to god I watched this video last night... and haven’t lost a game since... I have only been driving balls and hitting tons of bombs! This was actually so helpful. My hitting is so much better no cap!
I’m an Xbox guy bought a ps4 just to play this game and I’m really suck at the game so far, but i think this video will help me get better. Please make a pitching video. I just subscribed to your channel. Great job explaining.
Is there anyway you could do a video about how you see and recognize pitches ? Maybe what your looking for as far as arm angle or what the ball might be doing ?! Please !!! Great videos !!
Nice video and explanations. I try to play every year but always struggle hitting and quit. I'm no money spent so grinding gets frustrating when you can't hit. My biggest problem is I am always EARLY and can not read a breaking ball to save my life and no idea how to fix that.
It is all easier said then done. All comes down to being able to lay off balls, and I'm sure a monitor helps but people make WS on tvs too. I enjoy playing on my 55 inch and make WS. Especially if pitch speeds are slower this year, haven't been able to play yet so idk. But good tips, good video!
Hi, I'm new to MLB 20 and all your suggestions/tips are helping me but I still don't know how to time my pitches is there any way I could get better at timing the pitches.
Do you have any monitor recommendations? From my quick research I found the MSI Optix Mag MAG271C 27 Inch and it seemed to check a lot of the boxes and is reasonably priced for someone like me just looking to improve a bit.
100K views!! Insane! Thanks guys. If you stop by here PLEASE make sure to hit subscribe.
YourFriendKyle can you update this video Kyle? Hitting is way different than it is here
In your opinion. When are good times to use contact, normal,or power?
I struggle with one thing, well no, all things lol. How to recognize pitches when they are released. Not recognizing them makes me swing at all kinds of crap I have no business swinging at. It sucks tbh. It makes me just dislike the game because I don't feel like I have a chance. How do you recognize them so quickly AND get the PCI in the right position that fast? I'd love an idea. I see it but trying to apply it to my game is irritating me 😂
YourFriendKyle what monitor do you use?
Wow, how you probably want to take back those comments about no line outs on good contact this year.
Devs: good players will only get a couple perfect perfect swings in game
Kyle: am I a joke to you
Razz Razz its so easy to get perfect perfect on all star
What button for ps4 do you swing with?
Hayden Staab X- Regular Swing; O- contact swing; Square- power swing
Hayden Staab and triangle-bunt
@Frykod, thanks but I’ve been playing the show for like 5 years. I was just curious on which one is more preferred, power or regular
I have been playing the show for a few years now and every year searching for good hitting tips and i normally watch a lot of people's videos but after I watched this I can honestly say this by far is the best in detail video I've ever seen in the over 3 years I've been watching. Keep it up and look forward to more vids.
I think the main issue with me is moving the PCI smoothly and timing the fastballs. Guess I need to get the stick addition.
Drew Rushing I use a tv. Does a monitor really help that much?
What is the stick addition?
Zach Margolick Kontrolfreek addition
hitting tips: have a team full of diamonds who slap
I watched this whole video last night, played 3 ranked games in division series with a half gold half diamond team against kluber and Newhouser and won all 3 and scored at least 8 runs in each game. I would struggle to hit those guys but now I have so much confidence. This is such a good tip video, I really appreciate the help. Everyone try this you will get better 100%

Jarred Burns How’d it go?
Shout out to “Bustatnut69” just played him. He whooped my ass. I asked him for advice and he sent me in the direction of “yfk” Best advice I’ve gotten from an opponent so far this year.
respect to bustanut 🙌🏽
well the good news is everybody is leaving 19 so maybe i can hit world series now🤣
maybe i can go 12-0 too finally 😢😂
Connor Tripp nope. bought 20 and i’m somehow significantly better lmao. i feel like the skill gap is huge this year even with people higher level than me.
GOAT right here, pumped to see what you got in store for this year man. Keep up the awesome content.
OppoTaco_ Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
kyle says get a damn monitor but i cant even get the show 20😭🤦♂️
Your anticipation of where the pitch is hitting the strike zone is sick. I slowed each hit down to 0.25 just to watch, I realized that I place my PIC higher or under often which is also because I have the habit of swinging early. I think I need to settle down wait till later in the pitch to place PCI and swing
The most important thing for me when learning is knowing why to do or not do something. You did a superb job explaining that.
Good tips my man! I used your tip on keeping the PCI up a little bit just in case for high fast ball in and it works well for me. Also sweet name
Kyle can you pls make a vid on how help recognize what pitch is being thrown and advice with timing
THIS times 1,000,000
Thank you. I can't tell the difference between breaking balls and fastballs. I'm way early on breaking balls and late on fastballs 100% of the time
This would be great!
DUUUUUUUUUUUDE.... The fact that you showed how you hold the left stick with your thumb, I’m def subbing!!! All people do is talk about slightly this, slightly that, and I always wondered how people were avoiding so much tension on the PCI. You’re a real on for that!
Thanks for the tips man, when it comes to hitting I’m really inconsistent and I really hope this helps a lot and I wish you luck on the road to 20k💯🐐
My problem is I just freeze when I get a good pitch. I also struggle at following the ball. I just push the pci to it and get awful contact every time
Ryan Craft dude same I just can’t get good contact
Jacob Vargas yea. My timing is good I just can’t seem to move the pci correctly.
Is strike zone view that much more helpful? I’ve been using directional hitting for so long I feel I’d struggle using PCI too
Yeah dude, it kinda takes awhile but keep hitting with the PCI on custom practice cause after a few tries you’ll get used to it.
OMG!!! that slightly up and in tip is the single greatest piece of information I have ever seen on RUclips.
Yep. Pitching is awful.
it is based on player stats. So if your pitcher has terrible control, you wont get perfect pitches even if you have perfect input. Of course it is frustrating
I dont know man, analog is consistent for me so far
You make this look so easy! I still hit better with directional, and watching your videos makes me feel even worse about how bad I suck with zone lol
you just gotta get through a few bad games with zone , but once you do you'll be so much better
Not gonna lie!!! I used your tips bro and my hitting instantly improved!!! I’m still nowhere near to Kyle but I’m definitely better than I was! I’m hitting the ball way better! Jacking dingers and winning games!!! Thanks brotha
Bro that slight up and in placement is already helping me. Thank you
thanks for the tips brother!!
Hitting tip #420: don’t smoke weed and play ranked seasons
Tony Galliart weed makes me better
Lmao oh man, it really depends on what strain you get. Some strong Indica is NOT what you want for this game lol
Shaun Taylor that’s all I smoke 😂
Edwin that’s what I prefer
It stops me from throwing my controller through the TV
Yeah, that guy's team looks like a high school team against yours. One of the main reasons I've never had any interest in online play is how unbalanced opponents are. No one stands a chance when their opponent can outspend them.
D Jones not really
I have a whole diamond team besides one reliever and I’ve spent no money, I’ve also been luckier in card packs this year though
Also it goes more on your rank then how good your team is. If you got a bunch of gold cards and just started you can easily beat a all mid to high 90s team!
I haven’t spent anything and I still have an insane team
Bro not even 20 min after watching this and adjusting my hit settings to match yours I’ve had more perfect timing than my last 20games! Thank you! New subscriber here to stay.
When you are swinging are you using square for power or X for a normal swing with these settings?
Very good video bud. Couldn’t have explained it any better. Subbed and liked.
any tips on seeing the fastball quicker cause i’m still late
Levi Turner get a monitor
Do some batting practice and set it to whatever difficulty you play online. If you play any other offline modes like RTTS or just even against the CPU It helps a lot if you make it the same difficulty as online
People who complain online about “they need to fix the hitting, etc” should watch a video like this and then hopefully realize they just suck.
Theee hitting tips are fantastic! Thanks so much greatly improved my game and my sons playing as well.
When will you be doing your pitching tips one ? I’m doing well with the pitching but would love to see what you do.
Bro This helped me so much man I really appreciate it man keep up the good work
Great Video. Coming from an old guy that has played video games in a long while this really helped. TY! and be safe
Kyle can you please tell me how you track the ball out of the pitchers hand when hitting?
Thanks Kyle, these tips have really helped me and I'm off to a good start in Ranked Seasons
Best hitting tip video out here
Me before: averaging 2 runs per game
Me after:
1st game: win 14-2
2nd game: 8-0 made the guy quit in 1 and 2/3 innings...
I need the answer to your name as well
@@zachmargolick5835 Yeah, idk how to have a one word username either
I hate it when people ask for likes, if I like your video I will like it
Thanks, Kyle. I wasn’t expecting this video to be so informative. Subbed.
I have been struggling recently at the plate so I found a few videos but this one is definitely the best one and has helped me get better at hitting keep it up
Great vid! But what swing r u using? Normal or power?
WHAT THE FRICK IS UP KYLE! Your tip to move the PCI slightly up and in just helped me cause a rage quit in the first inning! Love the vids bro ❤️
Great tips. The few adjustments especially playing up and in a bit helped me alot, went from being inconsistent in veteran to smashing homeruns quite frequently on HOF difficulty. Subscribed 👍
What do you use for a timing mechanism/pitch recognition?
Well forgot about every other mlb the show RUclipsr.... can’t wait put these pearls of wisdom to practice⚾️⚾️⚾️
Thx again.
You the man bro. Just watch your video n im getting way better. Thank u
Does anyone have tips on timing up fastballs? My pci is always on the ball but I’m ages late
Thank you bro I’ve been having problems with batting thanks bro !!
Love you video keep up the good work and you can put your self in the top left coner
Time it as it is
Kyle I have a Gaming computer and monitor so should I use the PS4 on my monitor and switch between my pc and my PS4?
Your video makes more sense then most out there. Your not doin some gimmick thing. Awesome advise 👍
Do you have any subtle recommendations to help improve my timing? I am always getting decent pci placement and am having a lot of good good etc, but am struggling to get perfect perfect. Thanks
Thanks brother for the tips and thanks for being such a good teacher.⚾
This was a big help man. I’m subscribed
Thanks for uploading this, super chill, very helpful
I could not hit when i started playing this years game watched this and now im hitting really well. THANK YOU 🙏🏻
New subscriber here, and first year MLB Show player (haven't played a baseball video game since Ken Griffey N64, lol),. Thank you very much for this tips videos... they're very very helpful.
the trick is being able to distinguish a ball from a strike and that is best from playing and finding the batting view best for you as mentioned early in this vid.
I would rather see your hitting review on the left instead of the scoreboard, I can learn more watching it than I can a scoreboard.
B K yeah I know mean but it's tough because most people want to see the score
Yeah I agree with it being a hitting video would rather see pic placement than the score but if it's just a game not a instruction type video yeah let me see that score..
What kind of monitor do you guys recommend?
Great video, it helped a lot. Your easy to listen to thanks. What pitching settings do you use?
Great video Kyle thanks for the tips and I’m loving the game so far
Hey man nice vid but I wanna know which control freaks you use
I am new to this game and I don’t know if I should use normal or power swings? Could u give me a tip?
do you only use normal swing or do you use power swing
I just saw your hitting video. The tips were awesome. Im already hitting bombs like crazy
I swear to god I watched this video last night... and haven’t lost a game since... I have only been driving balls and hitting tons of bombs! This was actually so helpful. My hitting is so much better no cap!
Can’t say I ever comment on RUclips videos but literally instant improvement after watching this video
New sub, great video bro! You explain things very good. Tomorrow I will be putting these new tools into the chest. Thank you!
This helped me out a lot! Haven’t played the Show since 2013 so I’m pretty terrible right now. But these tips helped at ton.
So what do you hit with? Contact, Normal, or Power? Or is it up to who the batter is?
I’m an Xbox guy bought a ps4 just to play this game and I’m really suck at the game so far, but i think this video will help me get better. Please make a pitching video. I just subscribed to your channel. Great job explaining.
Thanks Kyle! Very helpful for a newb. That 3-handed pitcher rule tho!
@yourfriendkyle do you ever use power swing or always normal? i can get hits for days, but struggle in the power department.
My mans wearing a white Sox cap 🔥💯 subbed 💯
Do you have a timing mechanism that you use?
thank you so much, my pitching has been great lately but ive had trouble scoring and i just put up 7+ runs in my last 3 games
Is there anyway you could do a video about how you see and recognize pitches ? Maybe what your looking for as far as arm angle or what the ball might be doing ?! Please !!! Great videos !!
I listened to these tips and scored 5 runs in 3 innings, these really helped, thanks :)
Can I ask what software you use to make your videos so that you are in front of the mlb screen? That is a really great effect.
EXCELLENT video. Total noob here sorry. Should I swing square, x or circle? Do you mess with contact/normal/strong swings?
Where are you looking when a pitch comes? Pitchers hand, head?
Bro this made me so much better overnight thank you
Nice video and explanations. I try to play every year but always struggle hitting and quit. I'm no money spent so grinding gets frustrating when you can't hit.
My biggest problem is I am always EARLY and can not read a breaking ball to save my life and no idea how to fix that.
Hello Kyle where do you picking up the ball when pitched and reading the breaks.
Definitely going to try these new setting thanks!
This video helped me out! Thanks man!
What are some tips on discipline at the plate and swinging at everything 😀😀
thanks for the huge tips on hitting! what are the best collections to do first?
wow i did your tips and i’m wayyyyyy better at hitting now thank you
the fact he’s already level 40
SluggerTV he did collections
beastmode226609 word
SluggerTV yeah that’s how he got piazza and stargell
beastmode226609 lemme do the collections then🤣
SluggerTV it’s a joke. It’s been out one day and he already has a level 40. Not all of us can buy 11 $75.00 ps4 cards. Fuckin ridiculous
Wow. Had no idea of any of this. Legit info and video.
One big question I have is what swings do you normally use? Normal, power or contact? And how should I know when to use which
