happy pride, everyone! honestly what other piece of media could this song be animatic-ed to, on this channel no less
some notes:
1. "not everyone is su is gay!" look up the lyrics to the song, partner. it's not literally claiming everyone is gay, just that lgbt people exist and deserve to be happy. just let gay folks enjoy the representation they get
2. "why didn't you add (character/pairing)?" it's a two minute song. sometimes you have to prioritize. also i know i have biases toward certain ones but i made sure to make it about more than just what i prefer.
2.5. "where are yellow and blue diamond???" on homeworld, duh
3. now that those are out of the way, whew! i've had this animatic planned for a long, long time, and only once june rolled around did i decide to actually draw it out. i consider this both a fun little storyboard as well as a tribute to a show that has a special place in my heart, hence why i included as many elements as possible.
4. the little montage sections ("'cause we're all somewhere in the middle!") are intended to be people celebrating pride. interpret the humans as you will. the gems are definitely lesbians though
5. this animatic was made post 'a single pale rose' + a ton of leaks, so you'll notice that in pearl's flashback, rose has pearl's gem. also bismuth has her newer design. everything was fully intentional :D
6. while i'm loving the love from everyone, i'm really disappointed at the handful of y'all who'd rather focus on yelling 'lapidot is better!' and 'amedot sucks!' in the comments. i've always been clear that i respect lapidot but i personally prefer amedot. i'm not going to be mean about it. just please, limit the negativity. be mature.
thanks for 143k! while it's a lot of fun making big musical animatics such as this one, it takes enormous work and stops me from making other art in the process. so from now on, i'll try to upload small animatics (or big animatics with long gaps) with speedpaints in between. if you're expecting a heathers renaissance, you might just want to stick with the older stuff.

So, I am a straight person. I like boys. But a majority of my friends are LGBTQ. I don’t know if this was intentional in the song, but when they say “everyone is gay”. I believe they are referring to the old meaning of gay which means to be “happy”. Which is how I like to view it, because it makes me feel happy that others, despite their preferences and gender, can be happy. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind having a gay or lesbian or what ever they want to be child, because I believe everyone deserves love no matter who or what they are.

I really enjoy how this animation (or animatic) doesn’t focus on popular ships or fan focused ships. A really good representation of this was the Amedot and Lapidot both being in this. I really appreciate how you quite literally conveyed everyone being gay. Awesome work, even if this is an older piece.

This is the 4th pride month I've experienced being to some degree aware of my queerness. This song was a comfort song when I first started realizing I liked girls and had a crush on my friend. From the summer after 7th grade to the summer after 10th, it has been a crazy ride, going from homophobic and wanting it to be "okay" to be gay in my religion, to being proud of my identity. This animatic and song, they mean so much to me, not to mention my hyperfixation on SU I had back in 7th grade. Thank you for this, if I hadn't found it, I wouldn't be crying right now, proud of myself for not pushing it all down or ending it. Thank you. Happy Pride Month
