Haha...😂🤣 Something not right with me! 2 videos in 10 days! I need a rest mate 😂🤣. Thanks for the loyal following of the channel. Hope to see you on the livestream tonight 👍
I'm worried, not least in keeping the small volume of water stable, but yours looks incredible already 🙌 That coral goby - what a beautiful fish 😍. It's going to be great, can't wait to see how mine pans out! Thanks for watching the channel. 🙂
Great video. Nice to have you back and sharing lots of helpful and great information on the upkeep of you tank. Which i must say is looking really good. Nice to see the ICP results aswell. Must send ours off, we have had it ages aswell. Looking forward to more frequent videos again, and of course the build & updates on the pico tank.
Honestly I really appreciate you sending me the nozzle adapter, it looks brilliant. I'm going to build the Pico this weekend, so I will be able to connect it all up. I gave you a thank you at the end of the video 💕. Hope to see you both on Friday 🙂👍
First of all, thanks for your videos. They are great. I’m planning on getting the peninsula and you do ALOT for your tank. Is it all necessary? I am aware it’s gonna be some work but holy crap! lol
Thank you for watching the channel. No, you don't need to at all. The key is just good routines around a weekly water change. The Max Nano Peninsula a lovely tank, I wish it was out when I bought mine. Keep in touch and let me know how you get on..
Absolutely loved this update mate, really informative and stunning corals 😍, ICP was very good to be fair most of the perameters in range so I don't see a issue 👍, as for that PICO challenge I'm not gonna swear 🤬🤬🤬🤬 about it hopefully I've solved my issues 😂😂. Can't wait to see yours up and running soon 👍, great to see you doing these great video's mate but stop slagging me off about the PICO and frostbite Pods 😂😂😂😂
Haha😂🤣😂 that was a genuine accident - I call it frostbite now! Tbf. I was really happy with the water parameters. I think the Spotless has done well - I've run it for 14months. The Pico is next up. I'm going to get it started this weekend. Bit worried to be fair. The nano is in cruise control, this Pico is going to be a nightmare for 3 months! 🤣😂
Great update. So much stuff I never knew about is happening. Mangrove mud, Dr timms bacteria being dosed as a regular.. your tank looks amazing so it is working!
Thank you so much mate. If the video helps one person it has been worth making. I really appreciate you watching. All of the things I've dosed or fed I've used for more than 4 months and they are having a big impact in my reef so far. Hope to see you on the live tomorrow night 👍
@@jaysrealreefukHow did you determine to use all those things? Did you put together that mix of everything you use yourself, or know someone else using it, etc.
@@RobMouritsen great question. I did my research for about 6 months and at the time 3 years ago I wanted to get the best setup based on the tank. The doser is the biggest game changer as this keeps the water parameters stable, which is hard to achieve in the small water volume of a nano. Hope the helps. Great tanks - I love my Red Sea Max Nano.
Hi. Nice Video and nice aquarium. I hope you still read it. I use the same sock in the same aquarium, but I am not sure if I'm cleaning them the right way. I usually turn them inside out, flush them with hot water until they look clean and let them dry. Changing them also every 3-5 days.
Thank you for watching the video. I've used the stock filter sock from the beginning. I'm similar to you and just rinse it using clean RO water every water change, so weekly. Seems to keep my nutrients stable doing that. I also replace my socks for new ones every 6 months or so. I hope that helps. Enjoy reefing 🙂
Great in depth vid Jay. Just about to start using the eco balance. Good result with the icp test!! I have not done one yet,bad man. Your tank as always looks great!! Also great to have you back. Good luck with the pico!!
Thanks mate. If it helps someone then the video is worth it. Yeah, super pleased with the ICP and N-Doc. That's why the corals are super happy at the moment. That means I'm happy 🤣😂. Dr Tim's Eco balance - not had cyano after dosing this every few days. Tiny doses, but very frequent. Worried about the Pico. Such a little water volume to balance - near impossible, but should be fun. The Nano will always be my focus though. Hope to see you on the live tomorrow 🤞.
Nice update jay. Parameters are excellent and vast majority are in the green zone 👏🏻👏🏻. Reefers local to me have higher silicates despite using RODI although you can buy a pod and treat the water to reduce it. At that level I would not be concerned as tank is looking great so unless it is causing problems with algae etc why change 🤷♂️
That is very true. Don't change something that's not broken. Thank you so so much for all the help and guidance with my tank. 🙌. See you on the live this Friday. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch - hope you liked your livestream plug at the end! 🙂
Very nice setup, thanks for sharing your progression. What lighting spectrum and schedule do you use on your XR15s? And how do you get your photography to work out with the blue lights they generate, or do you change the spectrum when you are filming? What UV lamp are you using? Is it just a bulb with no sleeve? Nice work.
Loving the channel, new subscriber. Have you tried spot feeding reef roids? I’ve had a lot of success with that. Zoas and Ducans of mine have been adding a head a month. I directly feed it to them once a week and dose ab+ but half the recommended dose other wise it promotes cyano (from my experience anyway)
Thank you for watching and subbing mate. I do really appreciate it. Not tried the reef roids, heard really great things, but just need to keep on top of phosphate testing I heard. Hope to see you in the next video 🙂
I do a 10% water change every week. I use ocean breeze 4 fans in the summer, but these didn't work on the extremely hot days, so this year I bought a portable air conditioning unit for the room, which was perfect. Thank you for watching and commenting 🙂.
Hi jay Great video as always As you know also have a red sea nano ,Two questions 1.do you think the upgrade to lighting has helped with your success.2 what wattage is your UV Good luck with the PICO challenge
The Radion is a brilliant light for corals (I wouldn't be without mine), but I've heard the Reef LED 50 is good too. As you know I never ran it, so it's hard to compare. Personally, I think the dosing has helped significantly to keep the parameters stable. Stable is difficult in these Nano's as you know, but corals love it. The UV is a 7w lamp. I've added a link to it in the video description. Hope it helps 🙂 Thank you for taking the time to watch.
Mangrove mud is the ultimate coral food in my opinion. I bought mine from Future Frags in Stoke on Trent 🙌. Scott has a great facebook page/group. Thank you for watching 🙂.
Unless your tank is looking bad I wouldn’t try and lower silicon, it’s only very slightly over, silicon if it was an issue can go much higher than 250.
Yeah, tank looks very happy, well the corals do. That's good to hear mate. I don't really like changing anything with the reef, so that's great news. Thanks for the help.👍🙂
Wouldn’t miss them for all the tea in china!! Going to have to find a container soon, slightly bored of manually topping up and I’ve the very nice reefloat ATO still boxed. Keep the videos coming Jay 👍🏻
Nice icp-result, always difficult to get things right with a smaller water volume. Iodine dissappears quite rapidly from the water, so if you're dosing every ten days my guess is that the last days before the dose iodine is not detectable anymore. Also interesting bit about the lights. I'm running a xr15 gen5 pro on a 25 gallon cube, at max 60% of the total power of the light (mixed reef). I see you are running yours at max 20%. Have you done any par measurements by any chance? Personally I don't have any data, but if your numbers are good than I might be cooking corals 😅 (that said everything is looking fine for now)
You must be correct in terms of iodine consumption. Maybe I need to increase the dosing to 1ml every 7 days initially. 🤔. Thank you. Yeah, I thought they were running at 70%, but another RUclipsr commented saying they are at 20% and they are! I'm going to slowly increase the intensity, but will probably max out at 40%, as you say it's a powerful light. The corals always tell you. Thank you for watching and commenting mate 👍
