Just picked up 2 of these dosing pumps, I’ve been eyeing them and now you have one. I finally pulled the trigger. I’ve been doing it by hand for months
Love your videos! Just starting out in the hobby and am buying equipment. You recommended the Hannah alkaline checker. What other checkers do you recommend for someone just getting started?
Just started using the All for Reef and this might be right up my alley to get a more consistent level instead of it spiking as I dose but liking the results so far.
So far so good on my end. I hand dosed it for awhile about 3 months ago and my alk shot up to 10 so I stopped. Decided to be more methodical this time.
Great video! I’ve been working on a long term X1 doser revew video for awhile now and along the way I have been nothing but impressed with it! The app is so much better than the much more expensive GHL dosers I use for my other tanks.
Awesome video! I already have the X1 Bluetooth doser sitting in my closet for a while lol. However, I am planning to get All For Reef soon to dose as I’m starting to have a lot of acros and other types of corals in my 75G. For Black Friday, I got some nice high end corals. I got Peng’s Heart of the Ocean Acro (very rare), JF Homewrecker, RRU Angry Birds Acro (ultra rare), NY Knicks Torch, SBB Hephaestus Zoa, and Grand Master Krakatoa Zoa! I also got a camera tube to take some clear pictures!
Just for clarity's sake for other viewers, the X1 doesn't lose the scheduling you programmed in the app, it just starts the day over until you reconnect the pump to the app. As you mentioned, Kamoer addressed this in the new version. The X1 PRO has a clock onboard with a battery backup. So when power is restored, it does not need to be synced with the app to know what time it is. You can administer more doses throughout the day for increased stability. Last but not least, the PRO version uses WiFi rather than Bluetooth. The benefit of that is you can remotely control it and connect and control other Kamoer dosers using the same app, such as the FX-STP WiFi and F4 PRO WiFi.
Been using the X1 for all for reef on my frag system for a year. Flawless, and just as accurate as my dosing pumps that are 4-5x the cost on my larger systems.
I'm getting my first tank started and thinking of all the things I need or eventually will need and dosing was one of them and your video and breakdown and presentation of the information has made me feel a lot better about it all. It can all be quite overwhelming to think about but this video helped a lot. Thanks!
Pick your salt brand based on the levels it mixes to, then maintain those levels. Too many people out there chasing levels their salt doesnt even mix to
I bought the BRS 2 part setup last year, with their dosers and multiple 1 gallon packs but after watching some of the depth videos Ryan did on what Alkalinity is, and how ph can affect the water and corals intake, it made me realize I really didn't know enough to start a 2 part(although I'm sure if I gave it my 100% attention I could figure it out). I just so happened to come across one of Devons livestreams that same week with Lou from Tropic Marin, and he went in depth on how it worked. Told myself I couldn't mess that up, or atleast by to much so I started and saw good results. I've seen other YTErs like Billy Pipes as well as many others try out the X1 dosing pump and was planning on getting it as well, however with the sales going on and finding out power outages affects the X1, I ended up getting the X1 Pro. Excited to have 1 less tank to manually dose....1 down, 2 to go.
Sounds like you went with the right choice! Thankfully this pump won't be doing a ton right now so if power did go out I'd be able to reprogram easy. I need to take the power outage thing way more seriously and get a generator. Might try and look for one on Black Friday.
So helpful!! I got a bio cube and am trying to get a understanding of things that might come down the road! Also, what kind of corals could I grow with the bio cube light?
Simplicity 240dc protein skimmer was my buy for the reef tank upgrade. I also use Fritz RPM salt and planning on using their part 1alkalinity part 2 calcium buffer system with Fritz liquid magnesium.
Hey man! I have the same doser. One thing to note is to calibrate every month. I let mine drift for a few months and I found I had to keep upping the dose, as my alk was so low, thinking my corals were going crazy, but it was just that the dosing was off. When I then calibrated I then had a massive alk swing, from 6-9 dKH and lost a few zoas and some clove polyps. Could have been worse, but moral of the story: set a reminder to calibrate monthly!
Remy question I have fluval Evo 13.5.... I just bought an AI prime 16hd.. Got to change lid so what should I use glass or acrylic or screen?????? Also how should I set the light up...it's a mixed reef . Mostly frags everything is growing great pavona Duncan zoa's ... I'm scared to change it and hurt my corals
I watch these videos all the time. I can say this was very helpful. I only wish I can find a step by step, or perhaps a video on phases of testing to dosing. Overall a great video, keep em coming
Managed to get some stuff from the Top Shelf Aquatics "Beat the Rush sale" I got a peppermint shrimp (for aptasia) and some dragons breath macro. Stuff from the sale though, I got 3 zoas. A Daisy Cutters, a Blood Suckers, and a Pain Killers. Good Video Remy! Hoping you hit 10K by the end of the year as well!
Kinda a weird question but i want to buy these but not old enough to work (job). I already have a tank and setup but what corals make the most profit. Fast grower and fast seller. thank you
Just bought a 100 gallon Innovative Marine tank and the Sicce return pump with WiFi. I’m upgrading from my 37 gallon tank. Hoping for a good sale for a new sump and protein skimmer. 😊
I ran all for reef on a im 10g mixed reef. The tank was consuming 1.5dkh of alk daily so the all for reef was great. Corals all looked great for months till I tore down the tank
Man your torches are looking great! For some reason my torch isn’t extending and I run two primes 16hds and it’s sitting midway in the tank..everything else is growing with no issue
Have you checked the par where your eughelia are? I bought a clear torch colony from somebody and they had the torch in like 300 par and I put it in low light and now it is bright gold! I would definitely make sure it is not getting blasted with light
I haven't...that was one of my adjustments though. The radion is only at 40% overall. Still possible it's getting too much light. I've tried target feeding too.
@@BahamaLlamaCoral I only calibrated them twice. The initial set up and when I moved the tank and ran new lines and all I did for that was to prime the lines again
only thing i’m confused about if i decide to dose and do a 5 gallon change every two weeks in a 40 gallon would that cause the levels to be too high after the water change?
be wary with the Kamoer pumps, got one a few weeks ago and the programme auto dosing cannot go down to lower than 0.7ml. So everytime it says you are dosing 0.3ml it is actually dosing 0.7ml or more. It is strange as you can dose 0.1ml manually using the pump but auto programme it can't.
@@BahamaLlamaCoral yep ! Using Red Sea coral pro salt instead of aqua forest reef salt slowly transitioning mixing both together and doing 5 gallon water changes over the next month or two for a slow transition , love aqua forest but really don’t want to start dosing figured would be worth a shot and heard a lot of good with Red Sea .

Yes, Bluetooth. I interchanged those in this video and noticed too late. If the power goes out, yes, they would stop dosing. If you have a generator and can power your tanks you'd be ok. My thought is that if your power is out, you've got bigger problems than worrying about your doser.
@@BahamaLlamaCoral true but I meant more if the power goes out briefly and then comes back on and you aren’t home, it seems like the light just blinks it has no way of saving the dosing schedule for ‘offline’ use. I’m not sure if it will matter in the end they should be super low draw so i will likely put them on a battery backup just in case
@@Jnvd3b Gotcha. Yeah, I think the bluetooth keeps the schedule in tact. I'd have to test that but I think it's one of the benefits. My AI Primes do this with power outage. I have them saved in the cloud though so it's easy to get them back on track.
@@BahamaLlamaCoral I would test it out. I am not trying to bash the doser heck I just got it but I ran two ‘simulations’ where I disconnected bluetooth to pretend I wasn’t at home, and unplugged and then plugged the doser back in.
