I had a feeling it was pretty standard to be honest, I get there is a bit of risk of going too hot, but to me it just sounded like a) the course guy didn't want to do it or b) isn't confident in their golf tech skills at all .. or c) was salty I left and didn't renew my membership with them and went to the competing course lol @@grippinggolfpodcast

It's a pretty standard procedure. If you use too much heat or the wrong tools, it could damage the shaft.
