    This is a great video. For the nand gate example, I'm wondering whats stopping the current at the top from flowing to the LED when both switches are closed?
    I understand that current is able to flow into the Q1 collector and so forth, but doesn't the electricity also still have a path to the LED?

    I needed an XOR gate on a project I'm working on. I built it from 4 NAND gates and it worked perfectly. Imagine how disappointed I was when I modified the circuit and no longer needed the XOR in it LOL

    I get most of it but confused on the diagram vs the schemtatics and didnt see where you mentioned the switch(not the 2 buttons) on the main board. The diagrams 5:00 arent clear on what connects to what.

    Is the base resistor supposed to be 10kΩ regardless of which NPN transistor i use? If not, how do I calculate that value?

    • @max3d_0ut
      @max3d_0ut 3 года назад +1

      You calculate that value by taking the collector current and dividing it by the max gain. This gives you base current which you then can use to get the resistor value since the voltage is known.

    I`m so confused. In the AND gate circuit You are using NPN transistor but on the collector and on the emitter there is positive charge?!

  • @HannTheftAudio
    @HannTheftAudio 3 года назад

    I've been wondering if there was a way to make an AND THEN gate. I remember wanting to do a project awhile back that had 2 outputs. But i only wanted this to work based on the sequence of inputs.
    If Input 1 was true AND THEN input 2 (and then 3,4 and so on), do this. Otherwise do that.
    I figured i COULD use an AND gate for that, but i wouldn't get the desired effect because the inputs would need to go in a sequence, not at the exact same time. And I couldn't use an OR gate because it would trigger the event if either input had a value, and all inputs would need to be active.... just in a sequence, kinda like a checklist. I ended up forgetting the project because no matter what i did i couldn't get the desired effect. it was always either all or nothing.

      Sounds like you need a latch or flip flop to serve as memory. What you're describing would be formalized as a "Moore machine". Give that a search and you'll find some good resources.

    Can someone tell me, why doesn't the LED light up in the NAND gate when the switches are closed? Wouldn't there be electricity passing through every path? Why does it move away from the LED? This is some basic thing that I am missing so I would really appreciate any help.

    • @max3d_0ut
      @max3d_0ut 3 года назад

      My guess is the transistor literally pulls charge down the emitter path and since an LED is a diode it won't light up with charge going the opposite way.
